Recently, some researchers have argued that generative design patterns (GDPs) can leverage the obvious design re-use that characterizes traditional design patterns into code re-use. this paper provides additional evidence that GDPs are both useful and productive. Specifically, the current state-of-the-art in the domain of computer games is to script individual game objects to provide the desired interactions for each game adventure. We use BioWare Corp.'s popular Neverwinter Nights computer role-playing game to show how GDPs can be used to generate game scripts. this is a particularly good domain for GDPs, since game designers often have little or no programming skills. We demonstrate our approach using a new GDP tool called ScriptEase.

GenVoca is a powerful model for component-based product-line architectures (PLAs) advocating stepwise refinement as a composition principle. this paper introduces a refinement-oriented generative language - ReGaL - to implement statically configurable GenVoca PLAs. Whereas components are programmed in Java, refinements are programmed in ReGaL by the means of generic aspects. Applications are themselves specified in ReGaL as type equations. ReGaL compiles type equations by instantiating and weaving refinement aspects with components to synthesize the requested (Java) application. As opposed to template-based generative implementations, ReGaL promotes a clean separation of components and refinements, hence eliminating code tangling and related issues. It also defers the choice of component class composition structures until configuration time, which provides added flexibility to adapt applications. Besides, its architecture model enforces a clear role-based design of components and supports useful architectural patterns.

Multiple dispatch - the selection of a function to be invoked based on the dynamic type of two or more arguments - is a solution to several classical problems in object-oriented programming. Open multi-methods generalize multiple dispatch towards open-class extensions, which improve separation of concerns and provisions for retroactive design. We present the rationale, design, implementation, and performance of a language feature, called open multi-methods, for C++. Our open multi-methods support both repeated and virtual inheritance. Our call resolution rules generalize both virtual function dispatch and overload resolution semantics. After using all information from argument types, these rules can resolve further ambiguities by using covariant return types. Great care was taken to integrate open multi-methods with existing C++ language features and rules. We describe a model implementation and compare its performance and space requirements to existing open multi-method extensions and workaround techniques for C++. Compared to these techniques, our approach is simpler to use, catches more user mistakes, and resolves more ambiguities through link-time analysis, runs significantly faster, and requires less memory. In particular, the runtime cost of calling an open multi method is constant and less than the cost of a double dispatch (two virtual function calls). Finally, we provide a sketch of a design for open multi-methods in the presence of dynamic loading and linking of libraries. Copyright © 2007 ACM.

the rapid change of requirements has made software more complex and harder to maintain. Software testing tools play an important role in the Software Development Life Cycle. However, many technology companies have employed fast paced development of software to meet the demands of their markets. Early released software tends to contain serious bugs and errors because they have not been tested properly during the testing process. Many current available testing tools are capable of detecting these faults;however, some of which are either outdated or cannot catch up with the constantly changing demands. Also, these testing tools concentrate more on generating efficient test sets while ignoring their effectiveness. this paper introduces an algorithm called T-SXM which is developed using the Java programming language based on the stream X-Machines theory which is an intuitive and powerful technique for modelling real world problems formally. the T-SXM algorithm is designed to provide developers with a tool to test the correctness of their implemented systems which can potentially resolve the problem of effectiveness that the other testing tools are facing.

this paper presents the development of a universal system designed for creating web applications that function as components of an automated equipment control system. the user interface development component of the system is implemented using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and the React library. the backend, written in JavaScript as a *** application, manages server operations and facilitates communication through the MQTT protocol. Based on the system, a fully functional web application was developed for managing the equipment block at station 1-3 "High-speed processes"at the center for collective use "SKIF". © 2024 IEEE.

Currently, the large amount of data collected from grid-connected photovoltaic(PV) is mainly unstructured, the processing, storage, and representation of which are different in various application systems. the characteristics of the data arc dispersive and heterogeneous. Serious 'data island' problem is caused since the data directly connected to large data centers does not obey unified standard, whose value, therefore, cannot be fully excavated. In the light of the facts above, this paper developed efficient management platform and data interface module software system for PV power station based on B/S architecture of Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition(J2EE), designed hierarchical architecture of system with the method of component-based service-oriented architecture(SOA), and built components and services through object-oriented approach based on JAVA. Effectiveness of developed software system has been verified in the construction of large data center for clean energy in State Grid Qinghai Electric Power Company. the system has a uniform and concise user interface, offers a strong extensibility, reusability, and performance, which can enhance efficiency of applying and sharing level of data resources.

Code generators based on template expansion techniques are easier to build than purely deductive systems but do not guarantee the same level of assurance: instead of providing "coffectness-by-construction", the correctness of the generated code depends on the correctness of the generator itself. We present an alternative assurance approach, in which the generator is extended to enable Hoare-style safety proofs for each individual generated program. the proofs ensure that the generated code does not "go wrong", i.e., does not violate certain conditions during its execution. the crucial step in this approach is to extend the generator in such way that it produces all required annotations (i.e., pre-/postconditions and loop invariants) without compromising the assurance provided by the subsequent verification phase. this is achieved by embedding annotation templates into the code templates, which are then instantiated in parallel by the generator. this is feasible because the structure of the generated code and the possible safety properties are known when the generator is developed. It does not compromise the provided assurance because the annotations only serve as auxiliary lemmas and errors in the annotation templates ultimately lead to unprovable safety obligations. We have implemented this approach and integrated it into the AUTOBAYES and AUToFILTER program generators. We have then used it to, fully automatically prove that code generated by the two systems satisfies both language-specific properties such as array-bounds safety or proper variable initialization-before-use and domain-specific properties such as vector normalization, matrix symmetry, or correct sensor input usage.

Most software applications use a relational database for data management and storage. Interaction with such a database is often done by letting the program construct strings with valid SQL statements, which are then sent for execution to the database engine. the fact that these statements are only checked for correctness at runtime is a source for many potential problems such as type and syntax errors and vulnerability to injection attacks. the ARARAT system presented here offers a method for dealing with these predicaments, by coercing the host C++ compiler to do the necessary checks of the generated strings. A library of templates and preprocessor directives effectively extends C++ with a little language representing an augmented relational algebra formalism. Type checking of this language extension, carried out by our template library, assures, at compile-time, the correctness and safety of the generated SQL strings. that is to say that all SQL statements constructed by the system are syntactically correct, legal with respect to the database schema, and immune to injection attacks. Standard techniques (e.g., "expression templates") for compile time representation of symbolic structures, are enhanced in our system to support a type system (featuring structural equivalence) and a symbol table lookup of the symbolic structure. Our work may also open the way for embedding other domain specific languages in C++. the system provides also initial support for the task of defining C++ data structures required for storing the results returned by database queries. An optional pre-processor can be used to define the database scheme to the C++ program. Copyright © 2007 ACM.

Collaborative development is critical to improve the productivity. Multiple contributors work simultaneously on the same project and might make changes to the same code locations. this can cause conflicts and require manual intervention from developers to resolve them. To alleviate the human efforts of manual conflict resolution, researchers have proposed various automatic techniques. More recently, deep learning models have been adopted to solve this problem and achieved state-of-the-art performance. However, these techniques leverage classification to combine the existing elements of input. the classification-based models cannot generate new tokens or produce flexible combinations, and have a wrong hypothesis that fine-grained conflicts of one single coarse-grained conflict are independent. In this work, we propose to generate the resolutions of merge conflicts from a totally new perspective, that is, generation, and we present a conflict resolution technique, MergeGen. First, we design a structural and fine-grained conflict-aware representation for the merge conflicts. then, we propose to leverage an encoder-decoder-based generative model to process the designed conflict representation and generate the resolutions auto-regressively. We further perform a comprehensive study to evaluate the effectiveness of MergeGen. the quantitative results show that MergeGen outperforms the state-of-the-art (SOTA) techniques from both precision and accuracy. Our evaluation on multiple programming languages verifies the good generalization ability of MergeGen. In addition, the ablation study shows that the major component of our technique makes a positive contribution to the performance of MergeGen, and the granularity analysis reveals the high tolerance of MergeGen to coarse-grained conflicts. Moreover, the analysis on generating new tokens further proves the advance of generative models.
