Flowcharts serve as integral visual aids, encapsulating both logical flows and specific component-level information in a manner easily interpretable by humans. However, automated parsing of these diagrams poses a significant challenge due to their intricate logical structure and text-rich nature. In this paper, we introduce GenFlowchart, a novel framework that employs generative AI to enhance the parsing and understanding of flowcharts. First, a cutting-edge segmentation model is deployed to delineate the various components and geometrical shapes within the flowchart using the Segment Anything Model (SAM). Second, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is utilized to extract the text residing in each component for deeper functional comprehension. Finally, we formulate prompts using prompt engineering for the generative AI to integrate the segmented results and extracted text, thereby reconstructing the flowchart's workflows. To validate the effectiveness of GenFlowchart, we evaluate its performance across multiple flowcharts and benchmark it against several baseline approaches. As the computing world "goes multicore", high performance library development finally becomes a nightmare. Optimal programs, and their underlying algorithms, have to be adapted to take full advantage of the platform's parallelism, memory hierarchy, and available instruction set. To make things worse, the best implementations are often platform-dependent and platforms are constantly evolving, which quickly renders libraries obsolete. As a consequence, developers are forced to permanently re-implement and re-optimize the same functionality and often even revert to assembly coding just as 50 years ago. A number of research efforts have started to address this problem in a new area called Automatic Performance Tuning with the common goal to rethink the way libraries are created. In this talk we present Spiral (***), a program generation system for linear transforms. Spiral generates highly optimized, platform-tuned implementations of transforms directly from a problem specification. For a user-specified transform, Spiral generates alternative algorithms, optimizes them, compiles them into programs, and "intelligently" searches for the best match to the computing platform. the main idea behind Spiral is a mathematical, declarative framework to represent algorithms and the use of rewriting systems to generate and optimize algorithms at a high level of abstraction. Optimization includes parallelization for vector architectures, shared and distributed memory platforms, GPUs, and even FPGAs. Experimental results show that the code generated by Spiral competes with, and sometimes outperforms, the best available human-written library code. Further, recent research shows that it may be possible to extend Spiral into other domains such as coding or linear algebra. As for the question in the title: Spiral shows that, at least for well-understood problem domains, a positive answer may be in reach.

Domain-specific languages aim to present software in the notations of domain experts and allow a straightforward mapping of application concepts to software solutions. In this paper, we present a domain-specific language for programming reactive control programs. the language differs from other approaches mainly by its hierarchical component approach, in which lower-level components provide elementary operations and upper components rely on the operations of their subordinates to implement higher control tasks. Moreover, the hierarchical component approach is leveraged in a hierarchical verification technique in which component implementations are verified against dynamic contracts of their subcomponents. We present the principles of the verification technique and discuss how it can be applied in a multi-stage development process. © 2010 IEEE.

Software development in systems integration projects is still reliant on craftsmanship of highly skilled workers. To make such projects more profitable, an industrialized production, characterized by high efficiency, quality, and automation seems inevitable. While first milestones of software industrialization have recently been achieved, it is questionable if these can be applied to the field of systems integration as well. Besides specialization, standardization and systematic reuse, automation represents the final and most sophisticated key concept of industrialization, represented by Model Driven engineering (MDE). the present work discusses the most prominent MDE approaches, while considering the particularities of systems integration. It identifies generative programming as being most suitable and integrates it into previous works on Software Product Lines and component Based Development in Systems Integration.

We define a method to modularize crosscutting concerns in the Behavior Interaction Priority (BIP) component-based framework. Our method is inspired from the Aspect Oriented programming (AOP) paradigm which was initially conceived to support the separation of concerns during the development of monolithic systems. BIP has a formal operational semantics and makes a clear separation between architecture and behavior to allow for compositional and incremental design and analysis of systems. We thus distinguish local from global aspects. Local aspects model concerns at the component level and are used to refine the behavior of components. Global aspects model concerns at the architecture level, and hence refine communications (synchronization and data transfer) between components. We formalize global aspects as well as their integration into a BIP system through rigorous transformation primitives and overview local aspects. We present AOP-BIP, a tool for Aspect-Oriented programming of BIP systems, and demonstrate its use to modularize logging, security, and fault-tolerance in a network protocol.

Today's Internet is long past static web pages filled with HTML-formatted text sprinkled with an occasional image or animation. We have entered an era of Rich Internet Applications executed locally on Internet clients such as web browsers: games, physics engines, image rendering, photo editing, etc. Yet today's languages used to program Internet clients have limited ability to tap to the computational capabilities of the underlying, often heterogeneous, platforms. In this paper we present how a Domain Specific Language (DSL) can be integrated into ActionScript, one of the most popular scripting languages used to program Internet clients and a close cousin of JavaScript. We demonstrate how our DSL, called ASDP (ActionScript Data Parallel), can be used to enable data parallelism for existing sequential programs. We also present a prototype of a system where data parallel workloads can be executed on either CPU or a GPU, with the runtime system transparently selecting the best processing unit, depending on the type of workload as well as the architecture and current load of the execution platform. We evaluate performance of our system on a variety of benchmarks, representing different types of workloads: physics, image processing, scientific computing and cryptography.

this paper describes two innovations that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of a genetic programming approach to object detection problems. the first innovation is to break the GP search into two phases with the first phase applied to a selected subset of the training data, and a simplified fitness function. the second phase is initialised with the programs from the first phase, and uses the full set of training data to construct the final detection programs. the second innovation is to add a program size component to the fitness function. Application of this approach to three object detection problems indicated that the innovations increased both the effectiveness and the efficiency of the genetic programming search. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2004.

component reuse is inhibited by two factors: Lack of an adequate modeling representation of components and lack of a method to predict properties of a composition of application components. In this paper, we propose a framework for conflict identification. the framework is primarily based on a taxonomy describing communication and technology related properties. Conflict identification is based on inference rules. Furthermore, we aim to integrate conflict reasoning in the software development process. We will show that the Unified Modeling Language and the Resource Description Framework can be combined to provide a solution to the representation problems, without resorting to extension mechanisms, and without limiting to a specific component platform. As a real life example, we model the connection of an .Net Serviced component to an Enterprise Java Bean as part of a mortgage bank's enterprise architecture and prove its viability. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.

Since most of the current Low Light Image Enhancement(LLIE) models are trained under RGB channel, it has problems such as training process difficulties and color deviation of enhancement results. We propose an unsupervised low illumination enhancement model based on YCbCr color space. this model maps the input low illuminance original image based on RGB space to YCbCr space, and then carries out feature learning on the brightness channel Y in YCbCr. First, extract low-level features through standard convolution dimension elevation, and then divide the network into light-enhancement module and detail-recovery module. In the light-enhancement module, conduct deep-global feature extraction and shallow-local feature extraction respectively , to obtain the feature map after light enhancement. then the feature map is connected and fused with low-level features in the detail-recover module to restore the texture and details lost in the light enhancement process. After obtaining the feature map after detail-recovery module, the new Y connect the feature map with Cb and Cr channels after dimensionality reduction to obtain the final enhanced image. In the process of model training, a new comprehensive loss function is used to realize the constraints on each component of the model. At the same time, the unsupervised learning process is realized by using the generative adversarial network, and the channel attention mechanism is introduced to achieve a better denoising effect. through experimental comparison, the average NIQE and LOE values of the new model on the test dataset reach 3.88 and 146.2, which has a competitive enhancement effect. © 2023 IEEE.
