Architecture description languages deal with the description, analysis and reuse of software architectures. this paper describes DAOP-ADL, a component- and aspect-based language to specify the architecture of an application in terms of components, aspects and a set of plug-compatibility rules between them. With the aim of connecting the specification of the application architecture to the implementation, we describe our language using XML and XML Schemas. the DAOP-ADL language was designed to be interpreted by DAOP, our own dynamic component- and aspect-oriented platform. DAOP provides a composition mechanism that plugs aspects into components dynamically at runtime. the software architect will use the DAOP-ADL language at design time to describe the architecture of the application. Later this architectural information is loaded into the DAOP platform, which needs it to establish the dynamic connections between autonomous components and aspects. therefore, the use of DAOP-ADL closes the gap between design and implementation of component- and aspect-based applications. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2003.

there is only that much space in the CS curriculum, and there are always new subjects that should be accommodated by the curriculum. For instance, in our community, we would want all graduates to leave university with a modest background in technical spaces, software languages, and meta-programming;also, with conceptually informed and reasonably timeless skills to efficiently master related programming techniques and technologies. In reality, the curricula of few CS departments meet this expectation. In this talk, I will discuss such curricula-related expectations of our community and the suboptimal situation at CS departments-as I perceive them. More importantly, I will allude to a revision of the CS curriculum that could optimize matters and may stand a chance for mid-term adoption.

Model-driven engineering (MDE) techniques are increasingly being used to address many of the development and operational lifecycle concerns of large-scale component-based systems. One such concern lacking significant research deals with the validation of quality-of-service (QoS) properties of component-based systems throughout their development lifecycle instead of waiting until system integration time, which is very late and can be detrimental to project schedules and costs. this paper describes our novel MDE-based solution to address this challenge. At the core of our solution approach are (1) a set of domain-specific modeling languages that allow us to mimic component "business logic," and (2) a generative programming framework that synthesizes empirical benchmarking code for system emulation and continuous QoS evaluation

We propose a novel approach to program a robot by demonstrating the task multiple number of times in front of a vision system. the system analyzes the visual data captured during the demonstration of the task by a human operator and produces manipulator level commands, so that the robot can replicate the task. Here we integrate human dexterity with sensory data using computer vision techniques in a single platform. this paper describes a fast and efficient algorithm for the vision system to process a binocular video sequence to obtain the trajectories of each component of the end-effector. the concept of trajectory bundle is introduced to avoid singularity and to obtain an optimal path.

Software systems based on service oriented architecture principles, which manage critical infrastructures, are typical environments where proper parallel data processing is one of the essential goals to achieve. Designers of such systems are normally expected to optimize the system performance and/or introduce new functionalities by evolving the existing system architecture. Our aim of this paper was to optimize system performance of a SOA-based control system by evolving the architecture of the particular service component within the system, which is responsible for complex calculations on large-scale graph models, under near to real-time restrictions. this service component transforms system models into task trees, which are then executed by the runtime library that is referred to as the Task Tree Executor (TTE). the goal of this paper was to introduce finer grained parallelism, thus better multicore CPU utilization, by evolving TTE architecture in such a way that novel architecture executes TTE tasks as Intel TBB tasks rather than Win32/Linux threads, which was the case for the previous TTE architecture. the experimental evaluation based on measuring time needed for TTE reliability estimation, by statistical usage tests, shows that novel TTE architecture provides the speedup of around 8 times, on average, over the previous one. Although the focus of the paper is on a particular component, of a particular system, the approach that we took should be applicable on a broader class of SOA-based systems.

In this paper, we study the problem of multi-party horizontal split high-dimensional related data publishing that satisfies differential privacy. the dataset held by each party contains sensitive personal information, directly aggregating and publishing the local dataset from multiple parties will leak personal privacy. Usually, high-dimensional data are correlated, adding noise directly to the data will cause repeated noise addition and reduce the utility of the released data. To solve this problem, we proposed a method that horizontally split data publishing via probabilistic principal component analysis and differential privacy, the data owners add noise to low-dimensional data to reduce noise intake, and collaborate with a semi-trusted curator to reduce the dimensionality, finally, the data owners use the generative model of probabilistic principal component analysis to generate a synthetic dataset for publishing. the experimental results show that the synthetic dataset can maintain more efficient under the guarantee of differential privacy. © 2022, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications engineering.

In this paper, we propose a new approach to solve the maximal constraint satisfaction problems (Max-CSP) using the continuous Hopfield network. this approach is divided into two steps: the first step involves modeling the maximal constraint satisfaction problem as 0-1 quadratic programming subject to linear constraints (QP). the second step concerns applying the continuous Hopfield network (CHN) to solve the QP problem. therefore, the generalized energy function associated to the CHN and an appropriate parameter-setting procedure about Max-CSP problems are given in detail. Finally, the proposed algorithm and some computational experiments solving the Max-CSP are shown.

Current autonomous robots are not sophisticated enough to complete many mobile tasks, so human-in-the-loop control - including teleoperation - remains the only way to accomplish these tasks. However, most teleoperated tasks cannot be performed at a reasonable *** evaluating design choices, it is not always clear which designs will yield the greatest speed increase at the lowest cost. this paper introduces a optimization-based approach for evaluating multiple design options that weighs robot speed against costs such as component price and size. An example is presented to illustrate the methodology.

Despite their drawbacks, paper-based questionnaires are still used to collect data in many application domains. In the QuestionSys project, we develop an advanced framework that enables domain experts to transform paper-based instruments to mobile data collection applications, which then run on smart mobile devices. the framework empowers domain experts to develop robust mobile data collection applications on their own without the need to involve programmers. To realize this vision, a configurator component applying a model-driven approach is developed. As this component shall relieve domain experts from technical issues, it has to be proven that domain experts are actually able to use the configurator properly. the experiment presented in this paper investigates the mental efforts for creating such data collection applications by comparing novices and experts. Results reveal that even novices are able to model instruments with an acceptable number of errors. Altogether, the QuestionSys framework empowers domain experts to develop sophisticated mobile data collection applications by orders of magnitude faster compared to current mobile application development practices.
