Many software development methodology support systems (M. Light, 2003) have emerged with fundamental features such as, process definition, and process publication including organizational process manuals and online documentation. However, the major tools are lacking features such as the enactment of multiple methodologies in one project, the reuse of project assets for project performance, and the quantitative project management with the purpose of development process improvement in both project and organization level. For this reason, we have built the PRiME system, which is software process & project management system based on SPEM (software process engineering metamodel) (http://***/technology/documents/formal/***) compliant software development methodologies. It basically supports the effective definition, reference, implementation, and enhancement of methodology providing the integrated functionalities in software development project. Also its primary sub-systems have been built as a pluggable component type, called eclipse plug-in within the eclipse PDE (plug-in development environment) for compatibility with CASE or software development tools

Domain-specific Language Integration with Compile-time Parser Generator Library

Smooth integration of domain-specific languages into a general purpose host language requires absorbing of domain code written in arbitrary syntax. the integration should cause minimal syntactical and semantic overhead and introduce minimal dependency on external tools. In this paper we discuss a DSL integration technique for the C++ programming language. the solution is based on compile-time parsing of the DSL code. the parser generator is a C++ template metaprogram reimplementation of a runtime Haskell parser generator library. the full parsing phase is executed when the host program is compiled. the library uses only standard C++ language features, thus our solution is highly portable. As a demonstration of the power of this approach, we present a highly efficient and type-safe version of printf and the way it can be constructed using our library. Despite the well known syntactical difficulties of C++ template metaprograms, building embedded languages using our library leads to self-documenting C++ source code.

Software product line engineering (SPLE) [5] seeks to exploit the commonalities among systems from a given problem domain while managing the variabilities among them in a systematic way. In SPLE, new system variants can be rapidly created based on a set of reusable assets, such as a common architecture, components, and models. generative software development [6] aims at modeling and implementing product lines in such a way that a given system can be automatically generated from a specification written in one or more textual or graphical domain-specific languages (DSLs) [13, 4, 15, 8, 3, 1, 12, 14].

Portable and embedded devices form an increasingly large group of computers, often referred to as ambient intelligence (AmI). this new variety in computing platforms cause a corresponding diversity in software/hardware platforms and other context factors. component-based middleware platforms offer a uniform environment for software, but they do not take away specific context differences, such as hardware resources, user identity/role and logical/physical location. Specialised component versions and/or configurations have to be made for each computing context if that computing context is to be used to its full extent. this is because the fine differences between component versions cannot be separated into finer components with the current component models. Aspect-oriented programming and generative programming technologies can be used to provide the fine-grained modularity that is necessary. In addition, the diversity of component-based platforms themselves form an extra reason for different component versions. We propose using a context-driven framework for the development of AmI components, which is based upon a gradual refinement mechanism. this refinement mechanism can cope with the course-grained differences between component models as well as the fine-grained differences between computing configurations.

Many modern applications result in a significant operating system (OS) component. the OS component has several implications including affecting the control flow transfer in the execution environment. this paper focuses on understanding the operating system effects on control flow transfer and prediction, and designing architectural support to alleviate the bottlenecks. We characterize the control flow transfer of several emerging applications on a commercial operating system. We find that the exception-driven, intermittent invocation of OS code and the user/OS branch history interference increase the misprediction in both user and kernel code. We propose two simple OS-aware control flow prediction techniques to alleviate the destructive impact of user/OS branch interference. the first one consists of capturing separate branch correlation information for user and kernel code. the second one involves using separate branch prediction tables for user and kernel code. We study the improvement contributed by the OSaware prediction to various branch predictors ranging from simple Gshare to more elegant Agree, Multi-Hybrid and Bi-Mode predictors. On 32K entries predictors, incorporating OS-aware techniques yields up to 34% 23% 27% and 9% prediction accuracy improvement in Gshare, Multi-Hybrid, Agree and Bi- Mode predictors, resulting in up to 8% execution speedup.

Some limitations of object-oriented mechanisms are known to cause code clones (e. g., extension using inheritance). Novel programming paradigms such as feature-oriented programming (FOP) aim at alleviating these limitations. However, it is an open issue whether FOP is really able to avoid code clones or whether it even facilitates (FOP-related) clones. To address this issue, we conduct an empirical analysis on ten feature-oriented software product lines with respect to code cloning. We found that there is a considerable number of clones in feature-oriented software product lines and that a large fraction of these clones is FOP-related (i.e., caused by limitations of feature-oriented mechanisms). Based on our results, we initiate a discussion on the reasons for FOP-related clones and on how to cope with them. We show by means of examples how such clones can be removed by applying refactorings.

Anomaly detection based on generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) has been demonstrated its superiority on in imaging area. However, most existing GAN-based methods require noise-free datasets to accurately train the network, whereas neither collecting an absolute clean dataset or labeling the anomalies in the dataset are quite difficult for Internet of things (IoT) applications due to the harsh environment and the high dimensionality of the data. In this paper, we propose a robust GAN-based model for anomaly detection in IoT, which can accurately learn the data pattern unsupervisedly even with polluted training data. the new model adopts the framework of Bidirectional GAN (BiGAN) to enable an efficient representation mapping, and integrates the mechanism of Robust Principal component Analysis (RPCA) to rule out the noises of data from the training set. To improve its performance, a new objective function and scoring function are elaborately designed, while a proximal method and Alternating Direction Method of Multiplier (ADMM) are incorporated into the training process. Comparing our method with four state-of-the-art anomaly detection methods, the experimental results strongly confirm the superiority of our method with polluted IoT datasets.

this project focuses on developing a low-cost Multi-Parameter Tester that aims to support farmers in growing their plants and raising their animals. this prototype is built to measure five main parameters, relative humidity, ambient temperature, moisture, soil temperature, and pH. these parameters are selected because they are necessary parameters for the farmer to determine good living conditions for the plant and the animal. this project research is divided into three main parts. Hardware design is the first part. the hardware consists of the main microcontroller (STM32F103C8TX), a touch screen display (Nextion Enhanced Series 3.5), a pH sensor (GEC-PH485), a soil temperature and moisture sensor (SM3002V), and an ambient temperature with the relative humidity sensor (Si7021). With this configuration, the Multi-Parameter Tester expects to be able to measure the pH value in a range from 0 to 14 pH with an accuracy of ±0.02 pH. It is also capable of detecting soil moisture in a range from 0 to 50% and -30°C to 70°C for soil temperature. Moreover, the device can capture the temperature and humidity of the surrounding environment in a range from 0% to 100% for humidity, and -40°C to 85°C for temperature with the accuracy of ±3%, and ± 0.4°C respectively. the second is the firmware design. the firmware is designed to manage and control each component within the hardware. this programming typically provides an accurate acquisition time for each sensor via scheduling/interrupt and handles various standard communication protocols (I2C, UART, and Modbus), which embed in each component (sensor and display). the last part of the design is user interface design. the Multi-Parameter Tester uses a touch screen display that designs with a custom control interface. this interface enables the user to configure and monitor all the parameters measured by the device in real-time. © 2022 IEEE.

the fundamental problem that confronts Pakistani software industry is that they have very limited experience in software process improvement strategies. We hardly find any Capability Maturity Model (CMM) level 3, 4 or 5 certified company in our software industry. It is therefore, necessary to find out the problems that are faced by companies in adopting CMM or its components. As a first step software configuration management (SCM), which is one component or key process area of CMM level 2, is focused in this research for evaluation. this paper is based on an auditor-based survey of 38 Islamabad based software companies. the goal was to find our adherence of these companies to SCM strategies. Some issues are identified, that need to be resolved for successful implementation of SCM. this paper also highlights where Islamabad based software companies rank them with respect to CMM.
