this work presents medicine powder inspection by image processing techniques using RGB camera acquisition. the light intensity in the environment and the angle of incident light make judgment difficult. the defect particles are buried in the medicine powder making detection impossible to clearly distinguish. Several images are applied to obtain the size and location of foreign matter inside the medicine bottle by the image operators of machine vision and from the equipment design to image acquisition.

Particle filtering is a Bayesian technique used for tracking moving targets in nonlinear dynamic systems. However, the resampling step in this filter is computationally intensive, limiting its application in real-time tracking. this paper introduces a methodology that eliminates the need for resampling while effectively parallelizing the particle filter. the approach involves iteratively sampling multiple heading disturbances for each particle until unbiasedness is achieved. this method is highly suitable for parallel processing since all particles are handled in batches, rather than sequentially as in the resampling process. the benefits of the proposed technique are demonstrated through a simulated study.

It is a promising solution to connect distributed generators (DGs) units to the grid via synchronverter. However, the differences between the parallel system composed of two synchronverters will affect the transient stability of the system, the fixed parameters cannot be applied to both steady state and dynamic state, which could threaten the stable operation of the system. Variable parameters using frequency or rate of change of frequency (ROCOF) are affected by grid voltage unbalance and harmonics. To solve this problem, a centralized virtual electromagnetic torque compensation control is proposed. In this paper, the reason of power oscillation of multi-VSG system is analyzed by taking the parallel system as an example. Based on this, a centralized virtual electromagnetic torque compensation control is proposed, and compared with the traditional control mode, the results show that the proposed control strategy can effectively reduce the oscillation frequency and attenuation coefficient of the system. A simulation model is built in Matlab/Simulink to verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed control strategy over the traditional control.

the large amount of unstructured educational data is an important data source of educational big data analysis. However, there is a lack of efficient and simple distributed solutions to process these unstructured documents. To address this problem, this study proposes a Spark-based parallel processing framework of large-scale rich text documents (mainly as MS Word documents), which can seamlessly to extend the serial open-source algorithm to distributed computing algorithm to accomplish parallel processing of large-scale rich text documents. We focus on how to achieve non-intrusive deployment of clusters and how Python codes access to HDFS files. the experimental results show that by using 8 physical nodes (with 128 cores all together), the speedup reaches 48 times compared to the standalone Python-docx in the experiments of extracting 232 GB docx files. the experiments also analyze the Spark parameters and explore how to optimize the parameter settings. © 2021 IEEE.

During a manufacturing process, hard disk drive (HDD) might be contaminated by some materials such as Quartz and Silica Gel. these contaminations induce a major failure in the HDD. Identifying them is a necessary approach to track back to the sources and prevent this issue to happen again in the future. In this work, we are interested in identifying Quartz and Silica Gel by analyzing their spectra obtained from using an Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX) instrument. A challenge is that these two materials are from the same functional group (Silicon Dioxide) and have quite similar EDX spectra which cause a classifying problem to experts. In this work, we proposed a parallel ensemble learning approach based on EDX spectra to improve the classification between Quartz and Silica Gel. Four ensemble methods were studied and compared: Hard Voting, Soft Voting, Weighted Hard Voting, and Weighted Soft Voting. We applied and chose the base models of the ensemble methods from 12 well-known machine learning (ML) models. Experimental results show that the Soft Voting and Weighted Soft Voting techniques achieved a maximum accuracy of 82.5% and significantly outperformed individual ML models in classifying Quartz and Silica Gel. © 2025 IEEE.

Free-Space Optical (FSO) communication is a promising solution for high-speed data transmission, yet its performance can be significantly affected by atmospheric conditions. this study investigates the impact of Return to Zero-Differential Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (RZ-DQPSK) modulation generation methods on FSO link performance under turbulent environments. Two distinct RZ-QDPSK transmitter schemes, one employing a serial configuration and the other utilizing a parallel configuration, are rigorously analyzed. through the simulations under OptiSystem 14, the performance of these transmitters has been assessed, providing insights into their efficacy and suitability in challenging FSO scenarios. the study demonstrates the superiority of the parallel configuration in maintaining lower Bit Error Rates (BER) ensuring resilient communication and extending the operational range of the system. the findings underscore the significance of strategic modulation scheme selection for optimizing FSO system performance in challenging environmental conditions.

Docker image storage systems, like Docker registry, often employ deduplication to reduce storage overhead. Existing deduplication methods for these systems detect redundancy at either layer or file level, each with its own advantages and limitations. Layer-level deduplication offers much faster restoration but lower deduplication ratio, as it eliminates duplicate layers while ignoring duplicate files across layers. Conversely, file-level deduplication offers a higher deduplication ratio but slower restoration, as removing duplicate files scatters the files of a layer, leading to multiple disk read I/O during restoration. Our analysis reveals that the slow restoration in file-level deduplication partly stems from ignoring file-layer relationships. In this paper, we propose MiDedup, a new Docker deduplication method. MiDedup detects redundancy at file-level and organizes files into a restore-friendly layout by considering file-layer relationships to enhance restore speed. Our studies also show that duplicated files of one layer are not uniformly distributed across different layers. MiDedup uses this insight to skip deduplicating scattered files to further optimize the file layout for faster restoration. Evaluations indicate that MiDedup achieves restore speeds that are 8–19× faster than file-level deduplication (slightly slower than layer-level one), while maintaining 9–47% higher deduplication ratios than layer-level deduplication. © IFIP international Federation for Information processing 2025.

the array signal processing technology provides support for the localization of the sound source, obtains the sound signal through the acoustic sensor array, and determines the position of the sound source through the sound source positioning algorithm. However, in complex environments such as confined spaces, where noise and reverberation interference are large, and the positioning error of traditional algorithms is large, it is a major challenge to achieve efficient, real-time, and accurate sound source positioning. In this paper, on the basis of the cross-correlation delay estimation algorithm, the three-dimensional cross-correlation is carried out, the weighted function is optimized into SCOT/PHAT, and the generalized cubic cross-correlation algorithm based on SCOT/PHAT weighting is improved, and the three-dimensional seven-element acoustic sensor array structure is built for position solving. Comparative experiments show that the improved positioning system can effectively complete the localization of sound sources, and the positioning error is smaller.

With the development of the sixth Generation (6G) mobile communication, big data and deep learning, new requirements for latency and computational complexity have been put forward. therefore, in this paper, we propose a new floating-point storage called extended block floating-point (eBFP). this article first briefly introduces the storage method of the IEEE Standard for Floating-point Arithmetic (IEEE-754) floating-point numbers and its shortcomings, and then details the storage method of the eBFP operator and its specific operation logic. Finally, a simulation comparison with IEEE-754 floating-point number shows the advantage of eBFP to better trade-off accuracy and complexity.

Large language models (LLMs) have shown excellent performance in natural language processing tasks, but their autoregressive text generation incurs significant computational overhead. Speculative decoding (SD) improves generation efficiency by generating candidate tokens from a draft model and validating them in parallel with the target model. However, the distributional difference between the draft and target models limits the acceptance rate of the tokens. this paper, based on the Multi-Candidate Speculative Decoding (MCSD) method, proposes two innovations: first, dynamically adjusting the probability distribution of the draft model's tokens using KL divergence to reduce the distribution gap with the target model; second, smoothing the mixed distribution into a normal distribution to further enhance generation stability. Experimental results demonstrate that, compared to the standard MCSD method, the proposed approach significantly improves the acceptance rate between multiple data sets. Ablation experiments also validate the effectiveness of the two innovations.
