Biometric techniques are methods for recognizing a person based on physiological or behavioral characteristics. the advantage of biometric techniques is difficult to modify. Many recent studies have started to develop bio signal-based biometrics such as the biometric electroencephalogram (EEG). this study proposes a biometric identification system based on EEG signals with photo stimuli. the EEG data is collected from five participants with five recording sections by using the Muse Headband EEG Monitor. the EEG characterization of each individual is calculated using the Hjorth Descriptor method. Validation of the proposed system is done by using K-fold crossvalidation and Backpropagation neural network. A total of 25 validated data, consisting of 10 test data and 15 training data. the system achieves 100% accuracy.

Compressed sensing (CS) in parallel magnetic resonance imaging (pMRI) has the potential to reduce the MRI scan time by many folds. Due to the application of CS, conventional linear reconstruction techniques would not work. To reconstruct MR images from under-sampled measurements one needs to solve highly nonlinear optimization problems. Practical implementation of CS in pMRI involves reconstruction quality or accuracy and computational time as its major trade-offs. Since clinical multi-dimensional pMRI requires significant amount of raw data, sequential implementation of complex optimization algorithms would not meet the time constraints set for clinically feasible reconstructions. In this paper, we propose a CS based parallel MRI reconstruction method using wavelet forest sparsity and joint total variation as sparsity inducing regularization constraints. the model is applied to multi-slice multi-channel MRI data. Simulations are carried out in the hybrid CPU-GPU environment for reconstruction of complex valued multi-slice multi-coil MR data within a clinically feasible reconstruction time.

Aiming at the fine-grained sentiment classification that distinguishes the emotional intensity, the commonly used dataset SST-1 is analyzed in depth. through the analysis, it is found that the dataset has serious problems such as data imbalance and small overall scale, which seriously restricts the classification effect. In order to solve the related problems, data augmentation method is adopted to realize the optimization of the dataset. the IMDB and other data which are relatively homologous to the original dataset are annotated, and the focus is to expand the categories with fewer numbers. By this way, the problem of data imbalance is effectively alleviated and the original data scale is expanded. then, based on the Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) model, which has good overall performance on natural language processing, the benchmark classification model is built. through multiple comparison experiments on the original dataset and the enhanced data, the influence of the deficiency of the original dataset on the classification effect is verified. And, it is fully demonstrated that the enhanced data can effectively improve the test results and solve the problem of large differences in performance between different categories well. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Ozone that was generated by using dielectric barrier discharge plasma (DBDP) reactor has been investigated. In this study, we compared ozone production with reactor series and parallelled at atmospheric pressure. the reactor used models of a wire mesh- A luminum foil configuration. the first reactor uses a series circuit with two reactors and the second reactor uses a parallel circuit with two reactors. Ozone was produced by DBDP reactor using AC high Voltage. Oxygen that source of ozone has been taken from the pure oxygen and natural gas. Some analysis conducted including the variation of voltage, the flow rate of gas and type of source gas which affect produced concentration. Some parameters varied including voltage from 0-10 kV and the flow rate of gas 4-12 L/min. the results showed that ozone concentration in the series reactor is higher than that of the parallel reactor. the series reactor could produce ozone with a concentration of 348 ppm at a voltage of 10 kV. then the parallel reactor of ozone could produce with a concentration of 240 ppm at a voltage of 10 kV. We found that series reactor could produce more high ozone concentration at the same voltage. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In the context of human-robot social interactions, the ability of interpreting the emotional value of objects and actions is critical for robots to achieve truly meaningful interchanges with human partners. We review here the most significant findings related to reward management and value assignment in the primate brain, with particular regard to the prefrontal cortex. Based on such findings, we propose a novel model of vision-based grasping in which the context-dependent emotional value of available options (e.g. damageable or dangerous items) is taken into account when interacting with objects in the real world. the model is both biologically plausible and suitable for being applied to a robotic setup. We provide a testing framework along with implementation guidelines.

In last years the use of multicore processors has been increased. this tendency to develop processors with several cores obeys to look for better performance in parallel programs with a lower consumption of energy. Currently, the analysis of performance of speedup and energy consumption has taken a key role for applications executed in multicore systems. For this reason, it is important to analyze the performance based on new characteristics of modern processors, such as Intel’s turbo boost technology. this technology allows to increase the frequency of Intel multicore processors. In this work, we present an extension of Amdahl’s law to analyze the performance of parallel programs running in multicore processors with Intel turbo boost technology. We conclude that for cases when the sequential portion of a program is small, it is possible to overcome the upper limit of the traditional Amdahl’s law. Furthermore, we show that for parallel programs running with turbo boost the performance is better compare to programs running in processors that does not have this technology on. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

Production programming consists of assigning, sequencing and timing tasks leading to the acquisition of physical assets in productive resources. Normally, we talk about "jobs" to be sequenced in "machines" so that the result of the production programming is shown in the form of a Gantt chart where each job is divided into as many tasks as necessary and each task is executed in the machines of the factory as technologically necessary. In the productive reality several machines are observed in each stage of the production process, which suggests a problem of hybrid flow workshop type (HFS). However, in some companies a machine of each stage is joined by conveyor belts. All these machines would behave like a single virtual machine since the works enter in order in the first machine and that order is maintained until the last machine, without allowing neither stops nor changes in the sequence. then in a modelling approach, it is suggested to reduce the problem of (HFS) to a problem with several production lines in parallel where each line would behave would be basically like a virtual machine. the problem is that since the line is so long, once the last element of a job leaves the first stage, it can start the processing of a new job while the first sequenced work moves through the production line. Effectively, the "parallel machine" modelling the line would be processing more than one job at the same time, that is, overlaps between the processed jobs are evident. the model is evaluated with the help of two of the commercial solvers and to be able to evaluate it, it was necessary to create a set of instances that would represent the situation under study. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

the human brain-inspired design and analysis of Soft Tensor Processor (STP) for massively-parallel implementation of multi-layer Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) which are currently the core of Deep Learning are presented. Unlike existing CNN accelerators, the proposed STP implements a required convolution by massively-parallel fine-grained execution of four-dimensional multiply-accumulate (MAC) operations with a systolic-like tensor data movement. this approach sufficiently reduces the number of needed time-steps to compute convolution. Under existing real-time constrains to implement a given application, such reduction of the time-steps can be used for lowering the working frequency in a physical implementation and, as a consequence, power consumption. An algorithm/architecture co-design of STP has been implemented under influence of the human brain as a system composed of the practically unlimited number of tightly interconnected low-frequency operational-and-storage elements (neurons) with a very low power consumption.

Algorithms for refinement/coarsening of octree-based grids entirely on GPU are proposed. Corresponding CUDA/OpenMP implementations demonstrate good performance results which are comparable with p4est library execution times. Proposed algorithms permit to perform all dynamic AMR procedures on octree-based grids entirely in GPU as well as solver kernels without exploiting CPU resourses and pci-e bus for grid data transfers. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Civil Aviation's Radiotelephony Communication (CARC) in hina involves Chinese and English. Due to the particular grammatical structure and pronunciation of CARC, the universal cross-lingual acoustic model isn't applicable. For the purpose of achieving the Chinese-English speech recognition of CARC, this paper proposes a cross-lingual acoustic model using a sharedhidden- layer Convolution Depth Neural Network (CDNN) with hidden Markov model. It introduces the Convolution Neural Network (CNN) to overcome the diversity of speech signals. In order to shorten the training and decoding time, the Low Frame Rate (LFR) is added in the feature extraction stage. the experimental results show that the acoustic model based on CDNN is better applied to the domain of CARC. the introduction of CNN can further improve recognition performance. Adding the LFR effectively reduces the training time and the word error rate. © 2019 Association for Computing Machinery.
