Compressive sensing (CS) techniques enable new reduced-complexity designs for sensor nodes and help reduce overall transmission power in wireless sensor network. However, for real-time physiological signals monitoring, the orthogonal matching pursuit that applied prior CS reconstruction chip designs is sensitive to measurement noise and suffers from a low convergence rate. In this paper, we present a robust 232-1996-kS/s CS reconstruction engine fabricated in 40-nm CMOS. With combination sparsity estimation (SE) and robust subspace pursuit (SP), more than 8-dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) gain is achieved under the same success rate for robust reconstruction. For hardware implementation, a flexible indices-updating VLSI architecture inspired by the gradient descent method can support arbitrary signal dimension of CS reconstruction without matrix decomposition. parallel searching, indices bypassing, and processing elements (PEs) grouping are designed to reduce the total CS reconstruction cycle latency, thus enhancing the throughput rate by approximately 6.3 for CS reconstruction. the 8.66-mm CS reconstruction engine can provide real-time physiological signal reconstruction for data collected from CS-based wireless biosensors under noisy conditions, making low-power patient monitoring a reality.

Cyclic calcium release and uptake in heart cells has an important role in heart rhythm and contraction, and it is known that the malregulation of calcium release is a predictor for cardiac arrhythmia. A model of this calcium release process was proposed, which consists of a large number of discrete calcium release sites, each involving stiff, stochastic, and non-linear systems. In this paper we have developed a simulation of this calcium release model, which is parallel across the problem. the simulation is developed in a CUDA framework to be solved using GPUs. Computational efficiency is enhanced by using a DIIRK solver and taking advantage of the sparsity of the Jacobian. the output is shown to display behaviour similar to empirical observations, in particular displaying behaviour known as calcium waves. Nowadays, cryptography plays an important role in the field of information security. the most common symmetric cryptographic algorithm is Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), which is based on the well-known Rijndael algorithm and is used worldwide in every domain. In this document, we present the implementation of the AES algorithm in two parallel modes of operation (CTR and XTS) with the OpenCL programming language. We used OpenCL because it is designed for parallel computing on heterogeneous platforms and ensures portability. Furthermore, we applied 128, 192 and 256 bit cryptographic key size and a file size ranging from 512B to 8MB to evaluate the performance of the kernel runtime and throughput (Gbps). the results have shown that, the performance of the CTR mode is better than the XTS mode. CTR mode speeds up the process of encryption with 128 bit key over 10.15%, 192 bit key over 10.09% and 256 bit key over 10.05%. the decryption process shows 128 bit key acceleration over 10.11%, 192 bit key over 10.05% and 256 bit key over 10.02%. Finally, comparing the results of our implementation to other similar parallel models, we have achieved better throughput performance.

Multishot echo-planar imaging is a common strategy in diffusion Magnetic Resonance Imaging to reduce the artifacts caused by the long echo-trains in single-shot acquisitions. However, it suffers from shot-to-shot phase discrepancies associated to subject motion, which can notably degrade the quality of the reconstructed image. Consequently, some type of motion-induced phases error correction needs to be incorporated into the reconstruction process. In this paper we focus on ridig motion induced errors, which have proved to corrupt the shots with linear phase maps. By incorporating this prior knowledge, we propose a maximum likelihood formulation that estimates both the parameters that characterize the linear phase maps and the reconstructed image. In order to make the problem tractable, we follow a greedy iterative procedure that alternates between the estimation of each of them. Simulation data are used to illustrate the performance of the method against state-of-the-art alternatives.

Classifying temporal relations between events is an important step of understanding natural language, and a significant subsequent study of event extraction. With the development of deep learning, various neural network frameworks have been applied to the task of event temporal relation classification. However, current studies only consider semantic information in local contexts of two events and ignore the syntactic structure information. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a neural architecture combining LSTM and GCN. this method can automatically extract features from word sequences and dependency syntax. A series of experiments on the Timebank-Dense corpus also show the superiority of the model presented in this paper. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Gathering and processing data is essential as it concerns (road) traffic surveillance and management. Nevertheless, most of the current solutions concerning this are either insufficiently aligned with the corresponding real-life business processes, or are too expensive, or are not enough "interdisciplinary". We propose an approach that is claimed to be not only easy-to-implement but also not expensive to facilitate. the approach allows for clustering the "observed" moving vehicles and the data gathering is essentially based on a Forward Scattering (FS) radar. Such a solution offers a number of features such as: relatively simple hardware, an enhanced target radar cross section (compared to traditional radar), a long coherent interval of the receiving signal, robustness to stealth technology, and possible operation using non-cooperative transmitters. Further, a FS-based vehicle detection would not pollute the radio distribution with additional radio signals. Finally, the presence of GPS signals anywhere allows for a worldwide use. the data-analytics-related tasks (that are essentially driven by Machine Learning) are realized using tools, such as IBM SPSS Statistics and K-Means Cluster Analysis. the strengths of the proposed approach are partially justified by experimental data that is however only limited to the approach itself Said otherwise, broader validation studies have not yet been conducted, such that the proposed approach is "compared" to other existing solutions. this is planned as future research. Still, the initial results obtained inspire us already to expect that the proposed signal processing of GPS signal shadows combined with Machine Learning can be successfully applied in practice for clustering moving objects in general, and in particular for clustering vehicles in the context of road traffic.

the purpose of this study is to use survival analysis method to discuss the factors that affect student attendance duration. In this study, 182 dropouts, most of the suspension of the school occurred in the freshman year. We analysis the student backgrounds of suspension of study, such as their "college", "school loan", " type of higher school ", "indigenous peoples", those reasons are more than 20%. Use Kaplan-Meier curve, we find that the attendance duration will be significantly different by the different background factors, such as "college", "school loan", "early alert", and "half of the credits failed".

In this research, we aim to construct a completely new PD monitoring system that applies inexpensive power line communication (PLC). So far, we have proposed a PD detection method and monitoring system PDMS-PLC (PD monitoring system using PLC) on the principle that PLC causes an error due to disturbance. We verified the principle of PD measurement by PLC and tried to detect PD signal using the system. this paper describes the principle and construction of a new PD monitoring system that uses a power line communication (PLC) and a ferrite core as a PD detection sensor, and discusses noise and PD discrimination. In addition, an attempt is made to detect PD and identify PD source from the quadrant dependence of number distribution of information transmission rate (hereinafter referred to as PHY rate [Mbps]) by selecting a pair of quadrants of applied voltage phase; i.e. 1st and 3rd quadrants, or 2nd and 4th ones. As a result, it was found that the PHY rate number distribution for the different pair of applied voltage phase quadrants reflects the PD characteristics obtained by the phase resolved PD (PRPD) pattern detected with a conventional PD sensor. Consequently, the applicability of PDMS-PLC to PD signal detection and defect type identification is suggested.

there are a lot of scientists who investigate the problem of information accessibility for visually impaired and totally blind people. Considerable contribution to the creation of information technologies for blind people was made in Sweden, Japan, Germany, USA, France, Canada, Denmark, Great Britain and other leading countries. Unlike the leading countries in Ukraine the information accessibility for blind remains problematic and painful. Solving this problem will help blind people to realize themselves in everyday life. the paper is devoted to solving the actual scientific problem of information availability for people with visual impairments by developing new methods and tools for computer processing and data presentation. the authors presented the developed software system for adapting Ukrainian-language technical texts to people with visual impairments. this system consists of a set of processing and conversion methods for automatic reading mathematical formulas and symbols written in a variety of formats in Ukrainian. As a result, a program of dubbing mathematical formulas "MathPlay" was developed, which showed overall good results of user understanding at the hearing voiced formulas of different complexity that estimates near 92.5%. the obtained results can provide the basis for the development of various training programs, practical courses and workouts of blind people working with the computer, as well as for university education.
