Morphological operations like erosion and dilation are important operations in various video and image processing applications. this research presents a configurable Quantum-dot Cellular Automata (QCA) nano circuit for morphological applications in image processing. QCA is a field-coupled emerging nano-technology which can be applied in various image processing operations. the implemented QCA design utilizes two cascaded 5-input majority voters where dilation and erosion can be performed with the help of a control line. the proposed design is compared with the previous results which demonstrate substantial improvement in terms of area, delay and cell count. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In a previous work we proposed a new model that predicts the execution time of a regular application on a heterogeneous parallel environment. the model considers that a heterogeneous cluster is composed by distinct types of processors, accelerators and networks. this work further details and proposes some modifications to the original model, as well as evaluate it on a heterogeneous cluster environment. the results have show that the worst error in the estimations of the parallel execution time was about 12.7%, and, in many cases, the estimated execution time is equal to or very close to the actual one.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry has allowed to monitor crop growth/health and remotely estimate biomass through calculation of Vegetation Indices (VI). However, some of the indices require costly sensors, and the process of generating VI maps from UAV images also requires commercial off-the-shelf software packages. this study uses existing open-source tools and methods to develop an algorithm for a web-service that can create orthophotos, canopy height model and VI's for red-green-blue (RGB) images collected from UAV. We also discuss on ways to balance between the processing speed and quality of outputs, and further compare them to the outputs of an existing state-of-the-art commercial service.

Attributed to the rapid development in I-Commerce with sensing devices, sudden increase of numerous services from a diversity of service providers has ensued. I-Commerce services offer several varieties of developing services. Correspondingly, dissimilar qualitative conditions are made available with a like functionality, thus automatically combining the service flow with other services. While the I-Commerce stakeholders are ambient and dynamic in nature, it entails using efficient approaches to enhance the output. Main apprehension here is to select an ant optimization method or protocol in order to give a numeric set of services along with the dynamicity. In this paper parallel Clustering optimization methods are developed by implementing a amalgamation of MapReduce with Ant Bee Colony Optimization Technique to enhance the effectiveness and performance of the system in I-Commerce. Further, by employing Map Reduce algorithm, associated running services are predicted on a Hadoop platform. parallel processing services decrease the time factor that is contemplated as an imperative aspect for processing the large quantity of unstructured data in a I-Commerce. Relevance and ability to correct in this system would be analyzed and evaluated by means of simulation and modeling on real-time existing data sets. Paper will explore the performance evaluation and results executed by finding the Recall, Precision and Prediction Accuracy. © 2018 IEEE.

Intravascular optical coherence tomography can be applied for high-resolution imaging in the coronary arteries with ischemic heart disease. the differentiation of the healthy and diseased vessel wall can be used to assess the extent and severity of coronary artery disease, and to guide therapeutic interventions. the aim of this study is to develop a recognition framework that can be potentially used for real-time intraoperative application. Structures in an image were labeled into five categories: diseased, healthy, luminal, guide-wire, and others. A U-net was implemented to directly take Cartesian images as input without any additional processing steps. A sigmoid activation and binary cross-entropy loss were applied to perform multi-labeling segmentation. three transformations were specifically proposed in the polar domain for data augmentation. For evaluation of the proposed framework, 200 images from 20 patients were used and a triple-leave-2-out cross validation was carried out. Performance was evaluated using the average loss in the validation dataset, and the Dice scores were reported as well. Results showed that the proposed framework can perform the segmentation generally with an average performance of 0.88 ± 0.02 in Dice scores. these preliminary results suggest that the proposed framework can be potentially applied for assisting diagnosis in real-time. In the future, we intend to include more data, also take into consideration artifacts such as bad flushing, more deformed lumen, and side-branches. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Huher regression is a robust linear regression, which can learn appropriate model on the noisy data scenario. In the era of big data, the training data contains many normal data. In order to solve the Huber regression model in large-scale data, we transform the Huber regression problem into a global consensus problem and a sharing problem. Two different parallel solutions to the Huber regression problem are implemented based on Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM) algorithm in Spark distributed computing framework. the experimental results show that the Huher regression can be solved quickly and maintain high precision by choosing appropriate parallelism.

the collapse of the local community makes communication between the government and citizens difficult. In particular, opportunities for human resources in adolescence and later to participate in local communities that has functioned as places of lifelong learning are diminishing, and various educational opportunities are being lost. In order to revitalize the local community, we propose a flexible and decentralized community-based implementation function and management method that makes it easy for people in youth to participate. In this study, we conducted a trial and social experiment on 13 students and local community participants using the web platform to examine the plans of regional community event. As a result, we could be confirmed our proposed platform was effective in enhancing the sense of satisfaction and contribution of the members.

the optimal polygon triangulation problem for a convex polygon is an optimization problem to find a triangulation with minimum total weight. It is known that this problem can be solved using the dynamic programming technique in O(n(3)) time. the main contribution of this paper is to present an efficient parallel implementation of this O(n(3))-time algorithm for a lot of instances on the GPU (Graphics processing Unit). In our proposed GPU implementation, we focused on the computation for a lot of instances and considered programming issues of the GPU architecture such as coalesced access of the global memory, warp divergence. Our implementation solves the optimal polygon triangulation problem for 1024 convex 1024-gons in 4.77 s on the NVIDIA TITAN X, while a conventional CPU implementation runs in 241.53 s. thus, our GPU implementation attains a speedup factor of 50.6.

With the increase on the use of mobile devices in children below the ages of seven and the expansion of app stores, efforts to produce different mathematic learning mobile applications have been made. Children that age, however, are not always able to effectively use and commit with such application due to interaction barriers with them. In this paper, we present the design process and description of a mathematics learning application meant to overcome these barriers. Applying HCI techniques, a mobile application that implements the Doman Method for early development was designed. Using non-traditional interactions and augmented reality technologies, the system presents an intuitive interface that helps breaking the understanding barrier with children. Finally, we discuss an evaluation carried out by several experts to assess the achievement of a friendly-user and intuitive application design to enhance the engagement of children to the application and as such to the Doman Method.
