the optimal polygon triangulation problem for a convex polygon is an optimization problem to find a triangulation with minimum total weight. It is known that this problem can be solved using the dynamic programming technique in O(n(3)) time. the main contribution of this paper is to present an efficient parallel implementation of this O(n(3))-time algorithm for a lot of instances on the GPU (Graphics processing Unit). In our proposed GPU implementation, we focused on the computation for a lot of instances and considered programming issues of the GPU architecture such as coalesced access of the global memory, warp divergence. Our implementation solves the optimal polygon triangulation problem for 1024 convex 1024-gons in 4.77 s on the NVIDIA TITAN X, while a conventional CPU implementation runs in 241.53 s. thus, our GPU implementation attains a speedup factor of 50.6.

With the spread of the internet as social infrastructure, more and more people are shopping online. Online sites that formerly dealt with such specific products as books and clothing have also expanded to mall-type shopping sites by incorporating various kinds of stores. As a result, searching for products has become more complicated and prolonged. In this paper, we propose a method that models product-searching behavior based on the transition of the search words input by users. Since a query is generally composed of one or more search words, their information content is calculated in advance from query logs. thus, varying the information content of the user's query sequences can be classified as a model of user searching behaviors. From analysis results using actual data, we confirmed that our proposed method effectively models product-searching behavior.

In this paper, we present performance and scalability of the Java codes parallelized on the Intel KNL platform using Java and PCJ Library. the parallelization is performed using PGAS programming model with no modification to Java language nor Java Virtual Machine. the obtained results show good overall performance, especially for parallel applications. the microbenchmark results, compared to the C/MPI, show that PCJ communication efficiency should be improved.

the paper presents an approach containing a package of several integrated programs, each of them being devoted to one of the principal problems regarding 3RRR planar parallel mechanisms: workspace, forward and direct kinematics and singularities problem. In order to perform workspaces coordinates and forward kinematics was used classical procedures, widespread and known in technical literature. For direct kinematics and singularities study, we used classical procedures also, but applied in a particular ways, related to each of them. thereby, the proposed programs package represents a useful instrument in practical goals, one of them being didactical process of students' instruction in engineering, but also for research and design purposes. the paper is a refined and a extended research of an older one [24].

the reduction of a general dense square matrix to Hessenberg form is a well known first step in many standard eigenvalue solvers. Although parallel algorithms exist, the Hessenberg reduction is one of the bottlenecks in AED, a main part in state-of-the-art software for the distributed multishift QR algorithm. We propose a new NUMA-aware algorithm that fits the context of the QR algorithm and evaluate the sensitivity of its algorithmic parameters. the proposed algorithm is faster than LAPACK for all problem sizes and faster than ScaLAPACK for the relatively small problem sizes typical for AED.

this research examines the role of satisfaction within the relationship among electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) receiving and customer satisfaction and eWOM sharing in accommodation services. this article uses the variance-based partial least square to estimate the structural model, showing results that receiving reliable eWOM is positively associated with satisfaction, whereas receiving rich eWOM is not. Moreover, the results present that satisfaction positively affects the sharing of eWOM. the social benefit motivation moderates the relationship between satisfaction and providing eWOM. the findings provide valuable insights for practitioners in the management of word-of-mouth.

In the past twenty years, the internet has changed how governments interact with their citizens. However, there are disparities among different groups of countries when it comes to e-government and e-services. the current article aims to examine the current situation of e-services provided by local government units in thailand. A purposive sampling technique was used, and a sample of 90 municipal websites was analyzed. the findings show that municipalities in thailand provide a relatively limited e-services on their websites, implying that the implementation of e-government in the country has not much changed since the dawn of information age.

Accurate prediction of financial markets is considered one of the most difficult problems due to the nature of its complexity, influenceability, and nonstationarity. Recent financial forecasting applications using neural networks typically have not taken the predictive uncertainty into consideration. Without proper consideration of predictive uncertainty, such approaches may lead to unintended investment losses. therefore, consideration of predictive uncertainty in neural network-based financial forecasting should lead to improved investment decision-making. In this study, the effectiveness of uncertainty consideration in neural network-based financial forecasting was verified through a simulated investment portfolio. We show that ensemble and Bayesian neural network models are effective in realizing more stable investment outcomes.

parallel and distributed programming involve substantial amounts of boilerplate code for process management and data synchronisation. this leads to increased bug potential and often results in unintended non-deterministic program behaviour. Moreover, algorithmic details are mixed with technical details concerning parallelisation and distribution. Process calculi are formal models for parallel and distributed programming but often leave details open, causing a gap between formal model and implementation. We propose a fully deterministic process calculus for parallel and distributed programming and implement it as a domain specific language in Haskell to address these problems. We eliminate boilerplate code by abstracting from the exact notion of parallelisation and encapsulating it in the implementation of our process combinators. Furthermore, we achieve correctness guarantees regarding process composition at compile time through Haskell's type system. Our result can be used as a high-level tool to implement parallel and distributed programs.

the algorithm detailed below extends previous work on inversion of block tridiagonal matrices from the Hermitian/symmetric case to the general case and allows for varying sub-block sizes. the blocks of the matrix are evenly distributed across p processes. Local sub-blocks are combined to form a matrix on each process. these matrices are inverted locally and the inverses are combined in a pairwise manner. At each combination step, the updates to the global inverse are represented by updating "matrix maps" on each process. the matrix maps are finally applied to the original local inverse to retrieve the block tridiagonal elements of the global inverse. this algorithm has been implemented in Fortran with MPI. Calculated inverses are compared with inverses obtained using the well known libraries ScaLAPACK and MUMPS. Results are given for matrices arising from DFT applications.
