this study introduces a secure and scalable hybrid trust management system for Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs), designed to detect and mitigate diverse malicious activities, including Sybil attacks, Denial of Service (DoS), and data forgery. Integrating entropy-based anomaly detection, Bayesian reputation updating, and the IOTA Tangle as a distributed ledger, the system ensures robust, real-time trust evaluation in dynamic vehicular environments. Rigorous testing against adversarial scenarios demonstrated high detection accuracy, low latency, and resilience under varied attack conditions. Key contributions include enhanced scalability through edge computing, secure reputation storage using distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), and real-time anomaly detection. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.

With the emergence of AI for good, there has been an increasing interest in building computer vision data-driven deep learning inclusive AI solutions. Sign language Recognition (SLR) has gained attention recently. It is an essential component of a sign-to-text translation system to support the deaf and hard-of-hearing population. this paper presents a computer VISIOn data-driven deep learning framework for Sign Language video Recognition (VisoSLR). VisioSLR provides a precise measurement of translating signs for developing an end-to-end computational translation system. Considering the scarcity of sign language datasets, which hinders the development of an accurate recognition model, we evaluate the performance of our framework by fine-tuning the very well-known YOLO models, which are built from a signs-unrelated collection of images and videos, using a small-sized sign language dataset. Gathering a sign language dataset for signs training would involve an enormous amount of time to collect and annotate videos in different environmental setups and multiple signers, in addition to the training time of a model. Numerical evaluations of VisioSLR show that our framework recognizes signs with a mean average precision of 97.4%, 97.1%, and 95.5% and 11, 12, and 12 milliseconds of recognition time on YOLOv8m, YOLOv9m, and YOLOv11m, respectively. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.. Task scheduling in multi-cluster systems is challenging, especially when it comes to meeting strict deadlines and efficiently utilising resources. the complexity increases with the introduction of new applications, which can create unpredictable workloads, resource over-utilisation, and potential task conflicts. Adaptive and efficient scheduling solutions are crucial for addressing these challenges. Hence, we propose the Incremental Concurrent Scheduling Algorithm, which combines graph partitioning with a Genetic Algorithm (GA) featuring dynamic chromosomes. Graph partitioning allows for effective task allocation and workload balancing, while the GA's dynamic genome length adapts to environmental changes, optimising schedules iteratively without requiring full recalculations. this reduces scheduling time and maximises resource utilisation. Our experimental results comparing the proposed method with a classical GA show that the proposed method significantly improves energy efficiency, deadline adherence, and overall system performance. this demonstrates the effectiveness of our approach in overcoming the limitations of static scheduling methods and enhancing task scheduling in multi-cluster environments. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.. Task scheduling in distributed real-time systems (DRTS) is a complex problem due to the heterogeneous nature of processors and the need for efficient resource utilization. this paper presents a novel hybrid model combining Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) to address the task scheduling problem. the proposed model aims to minimize system cost and response time while maximizing system reliability by leveraging the exploration capabilities of ACO and the solution refinement strength of GA. the hybrid algorithm operates in two phases: the first phase uses ACO to generate initial task assignments by dynamically exploring the search space based on pheromone trails and heuristic information. In the second phase, GA refines these solutions through crossover and mutation operators optimizing the task allocation further. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed ACO-GA hybrid model significantly improves task scheduling performance compared to standalone algorithms by achieving better resource utilization, by reducing execution time, and by enhancing the system reliability. this approach is especially effective for real-time applications where optimal task assignment is critical to system performance. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Formal specification are indispensable for computer-aided verification and testing of communication protocols. However, a large number of the practical protocols have only informal specifications, mostly in English. there are no general procedures to derive formal specifications from such informal specification. In this paper we model Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) by parameterized extended finite state machines. We also provide insights gained in the derivation of the formal specification.
