Modular multilevel converter (MMC) has gained a huge research interest for high voltage direct current (HVDC) applications. Recently significant research has been carried out to develop hybrid MMC to address the technical constraints of the MMC. parallel hybrid converter (PHC) is the most promising topology for high power applications due to its series connected chain-links on dc side and smaller sub module capacitors. Moreover in PHC, the chain-link SMs are not in the main conduction path and the H-bridges are switched at fundamental frequency, which leads to lower semiconductor losses. However, the dc and ac side of the PHC are strongly coupled which lead to a fixed output voltage without using a dedicated control to tackle this issue. Moreover, PHC loses controls during dc fault. Various methods have been proposed in literature to decouple the dc and ac side of the converter and to make it tolerant to dc fault. In this paper, a review of these state of art control strategies are presented. this paper contributes in summarizing key benefits and limitations of various existing control methods through extensive analyses and simulation studies.

Information security research has been a highly active and widely studied research direction. In the domain of Enterprise Social Networks (ESNs), the security challenges are amplified as they aim to incorporate the social technologies in an enterprise setup and thus asserting greater control on information security. Further, the security challenges may not be limited to the boundaries of a single enterprise and need to be catered for a federated environment where users from different ESNs can collaborate. In this paper, we address the problem of federated authorization for the ESNs and present an approach for combining user level policies with the enterprise policies. We present the formal verification technique for ESNs and how it can be used to identify the conflicts in the policies. It allows us to bridge the gap between user-centric or enterprise-centric approaches as required by the domain of ESN. We apply our specification of ESNs on a scenario and discuss the model checking results.

A design process and accepted solutions made during this process, often base on non-formalized knowledge, obtained from designer (expert) intuition and practice. there are no formalized rules assuring the correctness of design solutions. the analysis of design process of ship automation, including ship power system, shows that this process can be supported by application of the artificial intelligence elements. the article presents two artificial intelligence technologies of computer-aided design regarding ship's power subsystems automation (expert system and the multi-agent environment). the paper discusses applications developed using both approaches and presents their performance comparison concerning requests processing efficiency.

there is a problem of choosing the optimal configuration of the necessary computer and network equipment for the storage and processing system of BM@N and MPD experiments that the NICA complex part. A macro-modeling scheme is proposed and implemented to solve this problem. the process of data movements is considered as a byte stream that has a statistical nature, without analyzing individual parts of this stream. A probabilistic approach is used to assess the different equipment configurations: the losses probability of information coming from the detectors for each of these configurations are defined, and one configuration is selected for which this probability does not exceed a predetermined limit and the price is minimal. the structure of the simulation program, the proposed statistical criteria for the system quality and simulation algorithms are described. the results of preliminary calculations for the selection of the optimal data storage system for the BM@N experiment are presented. © 2018 Vladimir V. the questions of constructing optimal logical structure of a distributed database (DDB) are considered. Solving these issues will make it possible to increase the speed of processing requests in DDB in comparison with a traditional database. Optimal logical structure of DDB will ensure the efficiency of the information system on computational resources. the problem of constructing an optimal logical structure of DDB is reduced to the problem of quadratic integer programming. As a result of its solution, the local network of the DDB is decomposed into a number of clusters that have minimal information connectivity with each other. In particular, such tasks arise for the organization of systems for processing huge amounts of information from the Large Hadron Collider. In these systems various DDBs are used to store information about: 1) the system of triggers of data collection from physical experimental installations (ATLAS, CMS, LHCb, Alice), 2) the geometry and the operating conditions of the detector while collecting experimental data. © 2018 Elena V. ATLAS experiment at the CERN LHC is one of the most data-intensive modern scientific apparatus. To manage all the experimental and modelling data, multiple information systems were created during the experiment's lifetime (more than 25 years). Each such system addresses one or several tasks of data and workload management, as well as information lookup, using specific sets of metadata (data about data). Growing data volumes and the computing infrastructure complexity require from researchers more and more complicated integration of different bits of metadata from different systems using different conditions. A common problem is multi-system join queries, which are not easy to implement in a timely manner and, obviously, are less efficient than a query to a single system with integrated and pre-processed information would be. To address this issue, ajoint team of researchers and developers from Kurchatov Institute and Tomsk Polytechnic University has initiated the Data Knowledge Base (DKB) R&D project in 2016. this project is aimed at knowledge acquisition and metadata integration, providing fast response for a variety of complicated queries, such as finding articles based on same or similar data samples (search by links between objects), summary reports and monitoring tasks (aggregation queries), etc. In this paper we will discuss main features and applications of the DKB prototype implemented by now, its integration with the ATLAS Workflow Management, and future perspectives of the project. © 2018 Marina Golosova, Vasily Aulov, Maria Grigorieva, Anastasiia Kaida.

Online searching is one of the most frequently performed actions and search engines need to provide relevant results, while maintaining scalability. In this paper we introduce a novel approach grounded in Cohesion Network Analysis in the form of a semantic search engine incorporated in our Hub-Tech platform. Our aim is to help researchers and people unfamiliar with a domain find meaningful articles online, relevant for their project scope. In addition, we integrate state-of-the-art technologies to ensure scalability and low response time, namely SOLR - for data storage and full-text search functionalities - and Akka - for parallel and distributed processing. Preliminary validations denote promising search results, the software being capable to suggest articles in approximately the same way as humans consider them most appropriate - 75% are close results and top 20% are identical to user recommendations. Moreover, Hub-Tech recommended more suitable articles than Google Scholar for our specific task of searching for articles related to a detailed description given as input query (50 + words).

the distribution systems and microgrids in remote and rural areas are often of single-phase in nature due to economic viability. However, three-phase induction generators (IG) is a popular machine even in such applications due to the large utility and its competitive price features. this paper proposes a control approach for injecting power to a single-phase grid from an active phase converter (APC) assisted three-phase IG. the presented approach ensures balanced operation of the IG even with variable generation. A method is proposed that reduces the loading on the APC and improves operating power factor at the single-phase grid. Closed form expression of the grid current for a given operating point of the IG is derived. Simulation and experimental results are provided to validate the theoretical framework and APC control approach. the experimental results with a 3 kW IG substantiate the proposed APC control approach injecting 2.6 kW real power into the single-phase grid at near unity power factor.

this article presents a task of the recovery of the spectral density of sea waves in the linear case. Creation of the onboard ship system giving the current information about sea state and weather forecast in the navigation area is one of the most urgent problem. Weather forecast can be based on the analysis of the sea waves spectral density change. Evaluation of the sea wave spectral density is solved on the basis of indirect dynamic measurements of vibrational motion of the marine dynamic object in a seaway. the first researcher to raise the wave parameter identification problem on the basis of object behavior was Y. Nechayev. Over the past fifteen years, this problem has become rather popular and the works of Nielsen U.D., Simons A.N., Pascoal R. and others are of the most significance. Nevertheless, despite of researches large number it is still impossible to speak of an acceptable effective solution to this problem. the recovery of the sea waves on the basis of the behavior of the marine dynamic object requires the analysis and processing of large amounts of information. To improve the accuracy of identification requires using different algorithm of recovery and a large number of test calculations. the calculations should be made in real time. the system should also store processed data and provide access at any time. the software should have the fault-tolerance property, i.e. the software should continue to work in the case of failure of one of the parts. All these requirements and features make us to use distributed computing system for developing software of the solution of the problem. © 2018 Ilya Busko.
