this paper proposes a framework for the monitoring of olive oil production chain (OLEA management system). the deployment of the system initiates at the olive tree fields, where NFC technology is used as part of OLEA system capability for both pesticides and fertilizers control, fungicides use and olive oil traceability. Additionally, OLEA system uses sensors for the procurement of quantitative and qualitative olive oil characteristics at the extraction industrial process. Such characteristics are pertained to the depth of olive cluster geographical location as initial system’s kick off and up to the identifiable tree point when the OLEA system will fully deploy. the paper presents also OLEA technical characteristics as well as the structure of its integrated database and middle-ware communication protocol, which will positively affect Greek olive oil industry product marketing and exports. Furthermore, an ongoing case study of the OLEA system used for olive oil quality monitoring and traceability purposes is presented. Copyright © 2017 for this paper by its author

Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS), as an alternative process for producing liquid fuels from bio-syngas, is receiving renewed interest for both industrial and academic applications. A novel carbon-encapsulated Fe3O4 nanocatalyst is designed to optimize the product distribution of hydrocarbons. Several techniques such as XRD, H-2-TPR, BET, XPS, LRS, SEM and TEM are used to characterize the catalyst samples. the characterization results indicated that combination of glucose and iron species led to the formation of carbon-encapsulated Fe3O4 nanoparticles (Fe3O4@C), and the increasing glucose content in the catalysts resulted in the decrease of Fe3O4@C nanoparticle sizes. Fe3O4@C with smaller particle sizes provided more surface amounts of iron species, which facilitated the reduction of iron oxides and formation of active iron sites. However, the excess addition of glucose resulted easily in the formation of more carbon deposition on the surface of Fe3O4@C. Compared to the traditional Fe2O3 catalyst, the Fe3O4@C catalyst showed excellent catalytic activity and higher selectivity of gasoline products. Especially, decreasing nanoparticle sizes for the carbon-encapsulated Fe3O4 catalysts improved obviously the catalytic activity and increased the selectivity of C2-4 hydrocarbons.

SATCOM on the move with electrical beam scanning capabilities has found great interest recently due to its low profile and low maintenance cost for both civilian and military applications. Uniformly distributed array elements have been widely used for phased array antennas. However, a growing number of research on non-uniform distributed array has been published. In contrast to uniformly distributed elements, non-uniformly distributed phased arrays provide the designer with a degree of freedom of additional element spacing through their wide-angle scanning property that mitigates mutual coupling between antenna elements and allows placement of microwave circuits beneath the antenna elements. this paper presents the design of a non-uniformly spaced dual-linearly polarized phased array antenna with a wide-angle scanning feature for Ku-band mobile direct broadcasting satellite reception systems. the proposed array is formed using 64 multilayer microstrip antenna elements. this array structure could be a promising candidate for future low-cost microwave and millimeter-wave applications in the mobile satellite communications systems not only for military use but also for civilian applications.

Improved FCM algorithm based on genetic algorithm is used to extract user needs in mobile cloud computing. By using its characteristics of fast clustering, users can be divided into the same category with similar attributes and behavior patterns, and then use the similarity recommendation algorithm, which makes the similar user requests can be quickly responded. this algorithm (GAFCM-CF) is proposed in this paper to solve the problem of mobile cloud user attribute collection and user request processing in small and medium network. At the same time, this paper compares the simulation experiment with the traditional MIN-MIN scheduling algorithm, and verifies the effectiveness and efficiency of the algorithm.

Frequent items in high-speed streaming data are important to many applications like network monitoring and anomaly detecting. To deal with high arrival rate of streaming data, it is desirable that such systems be capable of supporting high processing throughput with tight guarantees on errors. In this paper, we address the problem of finding frequent and top-k items, and present a parallel version of the Space Saving algorithm in the context of the open source distributed computing system. Based on the theoretical analysis, the errors are restrictively bounded in our algorithm, and our parallel design could achieve high throughput. Taking advantage of the distributed computing resources, our evaluation reveals that such design delivers linear speedup with remarkable scalability.

Embedding virtual network requests in an underlying physical infrastructure, the so-called virtual network embedding (VNE) problem, has attracted significant research interests already. A realistic scenario might entail embedding multiple VN requests (MVNE) that arrive simultaneously (batch arrivals). the existing heuristic MVNE approaches neither consider the coordination among multiple VNR embeddings nor embed all the arriving VNRs simultaneously considering the available physical resources. this paper considers the MVNE problem in the scenario where the available physical resources may not be sufficient to satisfy the physical resource demands of all the VNRs in the batch. We explore applying genetic algorithm (GA) to handle the MVNE problem. We propose an algorithm to decide which VNRs could be mapped together. Extensive simulations are carried out to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithms in terms of the VN acceptance ratio and the long-term revenue of the service provider.

Exploiting temporal and spatial locality is a way to improve the performance of data compression and deduplication in a storage system. through our evaluation, we find that content level similarity measures such as similar tags of photos have a certain correlation to data compressibility. Raw images with similar tags can be compressed together to get better storage space savings. Furthermore, storing similar raw images together enables rapid data sorting, searching, and retrieval if the images are stored in a distributed and large-scale environment with reduced fragmentation. In this paper, we present the correlation results between content similarity and data compressibility using a dataset built from Flickr. the system design we proposed has been based on the evaluation and it optimizes storage efficiency for Top-N relevant images with the same tag. On one hand, the storage space is saved. On the other hand, the design may accelerate the query performance for Top-N relevance search.

With the rapid development of information technology, the security of massive amounts of digital data has attracted huge attention in recent years. In this paper, we provide an efficient parallel implementation of the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm, a widely used symmetrical block encryption algorithm, based on the Sunway TaihuLight. the Sunway TaihuLight is a China's independently developed heterogeneous supercomputer with peak performance over 100 PFlops. We also optimize the parallel implementation of the AES algorithm based on the Sunway TaihuLight to achieve more optimized performance. the optimization of the parallel AES algorithm in a single SW26010 node is provided. Specifically, we expand the scale to 1024 nodes and achieve the throughput of about 63.91 GB/s (511.28 Gbits/s). Our parallel implementation of the AES algorithm has great parallel scalability and the speedup ratio can be very high with the number of nodes increasing.

Word alignment is a basic task in natural language processing and it usually serves as the starting point when building a modern statistical machine translation system. However, the state-of-art parallel algorithm for word alignment is still time-consuming. In this work, we explore a parallel implementation of word alignment algorithm on Graphics Processor Unit (GPU), which has been widely available in the field of high performance computing. We use the Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) programming model to re-implement a state-of-the-art word alignment algorithm, called IBM Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm. A Tesla K40M card with 2880 cores is used for experiments and execution times obtained with the proposed algorithm are compared with a sequential algorithm and a multi-threads algorithm on an IBM X3850 server, which has two Intel Xeon E7 CPUs (2.0GHz * 10 cores). the best experimental results show a 16.8-fold speedup compared to the multi-threads algorithm and a 234.7-fold speedup compared to the sequential algorithm.

How to design a low-latency and accurate approach for user behavior anomaly detection over data streams has become a great challenge. However, existing studies cannot meet low-latency and accurate requirements, due to a large number of subsequences and sequential relationship in behaviors. this paper presents BADSM, a user behavior anomaly detection approach based on sequence milling over data streams that seeks to address such challenge. BADSM uses self-adaptive behavior pruning algorithm to adaptively divide data stream into behaviors and decrease the number of subsequences to improve the efficiency of sequence mining. Meanwhile, the top-k abnormal scoring algorithm is used to reduce the complexity of traversal and obtain quantitative detection result to improve accuracy. We design and implement a streaming anomaly detection system based on BADSM to perform online detection. Extensive experiments confirm that BADSM significantly reduces processing delay by at least 36.8% and false positive rate by 6.4% compared with the classic sequence mining approach PrefixSpan.
