Polynomials are widely used in scientific computing and engineering. In this paper, we present an accurate and fast compensated algorithm to evaluate bivariate polynomials with floating-point coefficients. this algorithm is applying error free transformations to the bivariate Horner scheme and sum the final decomposition accurately. We also prove the proposed algorithm's accuracy with forward error analysis that the accuracy of the computed result is similar to the result computed by the bivariate Horner scheme in twice the working precision. Numerical experiments illustrate the behavior and it has higher efficiency than the bivariate Horner scheme implemented in double-double library.

Designing fast singular value decomposition (SVD) is significantly interesting in applications. the random direct SVD (RSVD) has provided a fast scheme to compute the well approximate SVD by unilateral randomized sampling. In this paper, we present an efficient random algorithm in a bilateral sampling way. We also prove that the proposed algorithms can be bounded well and have less computational complexity compared to RSVD when the objective matrix is approximately square. Numerical experiments on graph Laplacian and Hilbert matrix demonstrate the efficiency and stability of the proposed methods.

We introduce Cloud4IoT, a platform offering automatic deployment, orchestration and dynamic configuration of IoT support software components and data-intensive applications for data processing and analytics, thus enabling plug-andplay integration of new sensor objects and dynamic workload scalability. Cloud4IoT enables the concept of Infrastructure as Code in the IoT context: it empowers IoT operations with the flexibility and elasticity of Cloud services. Furthermore it shifts traditionally centralized Cloud architectures towards a more distributed and decentralized computation paradigm, as required by IoT technologies, bridging the gap between Cloud computing and IoT ecosystems. thus, Cloud4IoT is playing a role similar to the one covered by solutions like Fog computing, Cloudlets or Mobile Edge Cloud. the hierarchical architecture of Cloud4Iothosts a central Cloud platform and multiple remote edge Cloud modules supporting dedicated devices, namely the IoT Gateways, through which new sensor objects are made accessible to the platform. Overall, the platform is designed in order to support systems where IoT-based and data intensive applications may pose specific requirements for low latency, restricted available bandwidth, or data locality. Cloud4IoT is built on several Open Source technologies for containerisation and implementations of standards, protocols and services for the IoT. We present the implementation of the platform and demonstrate it in two different use cases.

Renewables are key enablers in the plight to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and cope with anthropogenic global warming. the intermittent nature and limited storage capabilities of renewables culminate in new challenges that power system operators have to deal with in order to regulate power quality and ensure security of supply. At the same time, the increased availability of advanced automation and communication technologies provides new opportunities for the derivation of intelligent solutions to tackle the challenges. Previous work has shown various new methods of operating highly interconnected power grids, and their corresponding components, in a more effective way. As a consequence of these developments, the traditional power system is being transformed into a cyber-physical energy system, a smart grid. Previous and ongoing research have tended to mainly focus on how specific aspects of smart grids can be validated, but until there exists no integrated approach for the analysis and evaluation of complex cyber-physical systems configurations. this paper introduces integrated research infrastructure that provides methods and tools for validating smart grid systems in a holistic, cyber-physical manner. the corresponding concepts are currently being developed further in the European project ERIGrid.

Huge energy consumption of large-scale cloud data centers damages the environment with excessive carbon emission. More and more data center operators are seeking to reduce carbon footprint via various types of renewable energy sources. However, the intermittent availability of renewable energy source makes it quite challenging to cooperate the dynamic workload arrivals. In this paper, we investigate how to coordinate multi type renewable energy (e.g. wind power and solar power) in order to reduce the long-term energy cost with spatio-temporal diversity of electricity price for geo-distributed cloud data centers under the constraints of service level agreement (SLA) and carbon footprints. To tackle the randomness of workload arrival, dynamic electricity price change and renewable energy generation, we first formulate the minimizing energy cost problem into a constrained stochastic optimization problem. then, based on Lyapunov optimization technique, we design an online control algorithm which can work without long-term future system information for solving the problem. Finally, we evaluate the effectiveness of the algorithm with extensive simulations based on real-world workload traces, electricity price and historic climate data.

Day after day, cloud technologies are more and more adopted by very diverse types of stakeholders, and this success creates a side-effect problem: the energy spent by this kind of infrastructures is growing bigger every day. With the objective of reducing energy consumption when programming applications for cloud infrastructures, we have implemented energy-aware mechanisms in the COMPSs Programming Model, inside the context of the ASCETiC Project. In this paper, we demonstrate that application-level scheduling can have a big impact on the energy consumed by an application when executed in a heterogeneous cloud. We have implemented an energy-aware scheduling mechanism in COMPSs, together with a versioning technique, and we have run experiments with a use case coming from the real estate sector that proves our hypotheses.

Nowadays sequence data tends to be multidimensional sequence over data stream, it has a large state space and arrives at unprecedented speed. It is a big challenge to design a multi-dimensional sequence outlier detection method to meet the accurate and high speed requirements. the traditional methods can't handle multi-dimensional sequence effectively as they have poor abilities for multi-dimensional sequence modeling, and can't detect outlier timely as they have high computational complexity. In this paper we propose a variable Markovian based outlier detection method for multi-dimensional sequence over data stream, VMOD, which consists of two algorithms: mutual information based feature selection algorithm (MIFS), variable Markovian based sequential analysis algorithm (VMSA). It uses MIFS algorithm to reduce the state space and redundant features, and uses VMSA algorithm to accelerate the outlier detection. through VMOD method, we can improve the detection rate and detection speed. the MIFS algorithm uses mutual information as similarity measures and adopt clustering based strategy to select features, it can improve the abilities for sequence modeling through reducing the state space and redundant features, consequently, to improve the detection rate. the VMSA algorithm use random sample and index structure to accelerate the variable Markovian model construction and reduce the model complexity, consequently, to quicken the outlier detection. the experiments show that VMOD can detect outlier effectively, and reduce the detection time by at least 50% compared with the traditional methods.

Resource allocation and the associated deadlock prevention problem originated in the design and the implementation of the operating systems, comprising distributed computing, parallel computing and grid computing. this paper presents an improving deadlock prevention algorithm used to schedule the policies of resource supply for resource allocation on heterogeneous distributed platform. In the current scenario, deadlock prevention algorithm using two way search method has created the problem of taking higher time complexity of O (root m) arc traversal as the edge (v,w) is added to the graph. this paper proposes the algorithms for allocating multiple resources to competing services running in virtual machines on a heterogeneous distributed platform. We have implemented and performed our algorithm proposed by using CloudSim simulator. the experiments results show that our algorithm can quickly prevent deadlock and then resolve the situation of approximately orders of magnitude in practical cases.

Data encryption is gaining much attention these days from the research community and industry for transmitting secure information over access networks, i.e. `fiber-to-the-home (FTth)' networks and data centers. It is important that the newly designed encrypted networks are fully functional, reconfigurable, compatible, flexible and scalable with the existing deployed optical fiber networks around the globe. the prime benefit of having FTth networks is the optical end-to-end data encryption that can best be implemented by quantum-keydistribution (QKD) protocols using state-of-the-art telecommunication components, i.e. continuous-variable quantum key distribution (CV-QKD). In this paper, we numerically investigate the quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) based CV-QKD network that is compatible with the next generation (NG) services such as point-to-point (P2P) transmission and multicast overlay (MCO) traffic for audio/video signalling. We have further investigated the performance of quantum signals on multi-user fibers by emulating 7-, 12- and 19-core multi-core fibers (MCF). 100 Mbits/s secure key rates (SKRs) can be generated for inter-core crosstalk (XT) values of

RDF datasets have increased rapidly over the last few years. In order to process SPARQL queries on these large datasets, much effort has been spent on developing horizontally scalable techniques, which involve data partitioning and parallel query processing. While distribution may provide storage scalability, it may also incur high communication costs for processing queries. In this paper, we present a parallel and distributed query processing approach that explores the existence of data allocation patterns, provided by a controlled data distribution, that determine how RDF triples should be grouped and stored on the same server. Fragments of the RDF datastore follow a given allocation pattern and correspond also to units of communication among servers. Based on this distribution model, we define two communication strategies for query processing: get-frag, which requests remote servers to send fragments that contain data required by a query, and send-result, which forwards intermediate results. these strategies are combined on a method, called 2ways, that chooses the adequate communication strategy whenever queries traverse fragment boundaries. We provide a cost function used to determine this choice and present experimental results. they show that our proposed technique effectively reduces the communication cost and improves the response time for processing SPARQL queries on a distributed RDF datastore.
