this paper describes work in progress to develop a standard for interoperability among high-performance scientific components. this research stems from growing recognition that the scientific community needs to better manage the complexity of multidisciplinary simulations and better address scalable performance issues on parallel and distributed architectures. Driving forces are the need for fast connections among components that perform numerically intensive work and for parallel collective interactions among components that use multiple processes or threads. this paper focuses on the areas we believe are most crucial in this context, namely, an interface definition language that supports scientific abstractions for specifying component interfaces and a ports connection model for specifying component interactions.

Tycho was conceived in 2003 in response to a need by the GridRM [1] resource-monitoring project for a "light-weight", scalable and easy to use wide-area distributed registry and messaging system. Since Tycho's first release in 2006 a number of modifications have been made to the system to make it easier to use and more flexible. Since its inception, Tycho has been utilised across a number of application domains including wide-area resource monitoring, distributed queries across archival databases, providing services for the nodes of a Cray supercomputer, and as a system for transferring multi-terabyte scientific datasets across the Internet. this paper provides an overview of the initial Tycho system, describes a number of applications that utilise Tycho, discusses a number of new utilities, and how the Tycho infrastructure has evolved in response to experience of building applications with it.

this paper proposes a self-diagnosable multi-agent system. A self-diagnosable algorithm has been proposed for multi-agent systems. this conventional algorithm makes every agent diagnose all other agents, but it has a problem that the more agents are included in a system, the more communications traffic increases. To solve the problem, this paper proposes a framework of multi-agent system that divides and deals with in parallel domains for mutual diagnosis to mitigate the communications between agents. Our approach introduces middle agents that do not interaction with basic client agents and we have developed a dynamic highly structured system that dynamically reconstitutes system configuration. the proposed method has been applied to a multi-agent system that forms a circle autonomously. Numerical experiments show that the proposed method needs much less communications than the conventional one.

A significant disadvantage of fully homomorphic encryption is the long periods of time needed to process encrypted data, due to its complex and CPU-intensive arithmetic techniques. In this paper, a communication protocol is developed to ensure authenticity, integrity and privacy of measurement data across a distributed measuring system. the fully homomorphic encryption library LibScarab was extended by integer arithmetics, comparisons, decisions and multithreading to secure data processing. Furthermore, it enhances 32 and 64-bit arithmetic operations, improving them by a higher factor. this extension is integrated into a cloud computing architecture establishing privacy by design. the resulting parallelized algorithm solved the time constraint issues for smart meter gateway tariffs. Several tests were performed, fulfilling tariff specifications, where preserving privacy of accumulated data was necessary. It was concluded that this extension of the fully homomorphic encryption library meets the requirements of real world applications.

We show how this can be done while allowing organizations to keep their legacy databases and maintain ownership of the data that they currently store. Without sending or mirroring data to any trusted, centralized entity, we demonstrate how queries can be answered in a distributed manner that preserves the privacy of the original data. this paper explains our distributed query execution engine, outlines how to bootstrap the system when only real world identifiers such as a name and date-of-birth are initially known, and offers details on the tradeoff between privacy and performance. We evaluate the scalability of this approach through simulation.

To be competitive, Enterprises are collecting and analyzing increasingly large amount of data in order to derive business insights. However, there are at least two challenges to meet the increasing demand. First, the growth in the amount of data far outpaces the computation power growth of a uniprocessor. the growing gap between the supply and demand of computation power forces Enterprises to parallelize their application code. Unfortunately, parallel programming is both time-consuming and error-prone. Second, the emerging Cloud computing paradigm imposes constraints on the underlying infrastructure, which forces Enterprises to rethink their application architecture. We propose the GridBatch system, which aims at solving large-scale data-intensive batch problems under the Cloud infrastructure constraints. GridBatch is a programming model and associated library that hides the complexity of parallel programming, yet it gives the users complete control on how data are partitioned and how computation is distributed so that applications can have the highest performance possible. through a real client example, we show that GridBatch achieves high performance in Amazon's EC2 computing Cloud.

A previously developed software composed of parallel implementations of eight direct integration methods has been integrated on this application, in order to perform structural simulations on a Grid deployment. the GMarte software abstraction layer has been employed to couple the parallel simulator withthe Grid infrastructure. Performing distributed executions has enabled a considerable reduction in the global execution time of structural dynamic studies composed of different design alternatives. As one recently developed technology, cloud computing is differ in various aspects withdistributedcomputing and grid computing. Traditional monitoring system designed for the gird computing or distributed system is not suitable for the platform of cloud computing. And we have proposed a bionic autonomic nervous system (BANS)-based cloud resource monitoring model to deals withthe common issues of scalability and flexibility with monitoring system as well as support autonomy. the autonomy provides an efficient design that enables our monitoring system to both disperse pressure of primary monitoring node on data processing and reduce the network traffic load. Experimental evidence is presented that the BANS-based cloud resource monitoring system has a good performance. And it has been successfully deployed in Collaborative Autonomic computing Laboratory cloud platform.
