In the era of mobile Internet and cloud computing, the rise of big data has profoundly impacted diverse industries and sectors, drawing significant scholarly attention. the objective of this paper is to delineate an overview of the international research landscape of big data, identifying key research hotspots and emerging trends. To gain a comprehensive overview of the current state of research in the field of big data, we employed a range of analytical techniques, including co-word analysis, clustering analysis, social network analysis, and dynamic strategy coordinate mapping. Our review encompassed articles published between 2017 and 2019, spanning a three-year period. the data were sourced from the SCI, SSCI, SPCI, and CPCI-SSH databases. the literature was subjected to a sysytematic analysis using Bibexcel, SPSS, and Gephi software, with the objective of uncovering distinct patterns and trends. the findings reveal 11 thematic clusters within international big data research. these are text mining, data fusion, distributed computing, Industry 4.0, data privacy, business intelligence, precision medicine, bioinformatics, and data mining techniques such as classification and clustering. It is noteworthy that Industry 4.0, data privacy, and text mining emerged as significant research hotspots. Furthermore, the fields of artificial intelligence, natural language processing, smart grids, energy big data, and wireless sensor networks are regarded as emerging areas of interest. It is anticipated that the convergence of bioinformatics and other pivotal areas of big data research, will serve as the impetus for future research hotspots, necessitating sustained scholarly investigation and discourse.

the power IoT terminal environment is complex, and current smart sensor sensors have problems such as poor networking capabilities and large processing delays, and few specific edge-side automatic networking capabilities. this paper analyzes and elaborates the distributed intelligent sensor computing framework from the perspective of edge intelligent networking, designs a computing model for intelligent sensors of power Internet of things terminals, and gives the edge-based deployment of convolutional neural network architecture, data aggregation, model training, and intelligent reasoning. Finally, the validity of the proposed framework model is verified by public sample data. © 2020 ieee.

the development of power systems has called higher requirements for sensor information platforms, and sensor information platforms have become one key supporting technology for efficient and stable operation of power grids. this article first analyzes the current IoT reference architecture and the development trend of IoT platforms. then, a distributed sustainable integrated architecture sensor information platform is proposed to cater to the sensor requirements of the current power grid. Specifically, for the architecture, the distributed design and continuous integration design of the platform are introduced in detail. Finally, based on the designed architecture in this article, the practical work carried out by the information platform is introduced. this platform can be used for partial discharge detection of power equipment, providing edge intelligent computing support for the detection and analysis of radio frequency pulse signals. © 2020 ieee.

Analysis of people trajectories is key for implementing effective urban computing applications. Nowadays, social media represent one of the main sources of information concerning human dynamics within urban context, allowing to enhance the comprehension of people behaviour, including human mobility regularities. the paper presents an approach to predict human mobility by exploiting Twitter data. the prediction method is based on a hybrid approach combining frequent pattern mining, trajectory similarity and supervised classification. the trajectory pattern similarity allows to identify the more suitable historic patterns to exploit for the prediction of the user next location. If none of the patterns satisfies the similarity threshold, a set of spatio-temporal features characterizing locations and movements among them are combined into a supervised learning approach based on M5 model trees. the experimental results obtained by using a real-world dataset show that the proposed method is effective in predicting the user's next places achieving a remarkable accuracy and prediction rate.

In this article, we develop a comprehensive framework to characterize the performance of a drone assisted backscatter communication-based Internet of things (IoT) sensor network. We consider a scenario where the drone transmits an RF carrier that is modulated by IoT sensor node (SN) to transmit its data. the SN implements load modulation which results in amplitude shift keying (ASK) type modulation for the impinging R F carrier. In order to quantify the performance of the considered network, we characterize the coverage probability for the ground based SN node. the statistical framework developed to quantify the coverage probability explicitly accommodates a dyadic backscatter channel which experiences deeper fades than that of the one-way Rayleigh channel. Our model also incorporates Line of Sight (LoS) and Non-LoS (NLoS) propagation states for accurately modelling large-scale path- loss between drone and SN. We consider spatially distributed SNs which can be modelled using a spatial Binomial Point Process (BPP). We practically implement the proposed system using Software Defined Radio (SDR) and a custom designed SN tag. the measurements of parameters such as noise figure, tag reflection coefficient etc., are used to parametrize the developed framework. Lastly, we demonstrate that there exists an optimal set of parameters which maximizes the coverage probability for the SN.

Recent technological advances, such as Wireless sensor and Ad-hoc Networks, Internet of things (IoT), Cloud computing, multi-agent systems, etc. led to the emergence of control paradigms and architectures, where information processing and decision making are distributed/decentralized over several smart production objects (machines, robots, products, etc.). Indeed, a growing research effort focused on developing distributed control architectures, where production equipment (machines, robots, etc.) are endowed with some kind of intelligence to carry production planning, control, and maintenance engineering tasks. However, only a limited number of works focused on developing smart/intelligent product approaches, where products play an active role in the decision processes. Within the smart/intelligent product community, only a few works are interested in endowing products with capabilities that make them able to deal with disturbances and problems related to maintenance engineering, and to influence maintenance decisions and strategies in an autonomous, adaptive and resilient way. this position paper investigates literature to shed light on maintenance distribution possibilities. Important questions are addressed, such as: What kinds of information and decisions are distributed in maintenance engineering problems? How is such distribution achieved so far? What active roles do smart/intelligent production objects, especially products, endorse in such architectures? What are the benefits of such distribution, and how does it impact maintenance tasks in smart factories of the future? And finally, what are the challenges and future research perspectives that are still worth investigating to foster developments in this field? Due to climate change and scarcity of water reservoirs, monitoring and control of irrigation systems is now becoming a major focal area for researchers in Cyber-hysical systems (CPS). Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs) are rapidly finding their way in the field of irrigation and play the key role as data gathering technology in the domain of IoT and CPS. they are efficient for reliable monitoring, giving farmers an edge to take precautionary measures. However, designing an energy-efficient WSN system requires a cross-layer effort and energy-aware routing protocols play a vital role in the overall energy optimization of a WSN. In this paper, we propose a new hierarchical routing protocol suitable for large area environmental monitoring such as large-scale irrigation network existing in the Punjab province of Pakistan. the proposed protocol resolves the issues faced by traditional multi-hop routing protocols such as LEACH, M-LEACH and I-LEACH, and enhances the lifespan of each WSN node that results in an increased lifespan of the whole network. We used the open-source NS3 simulator for simulation purposes and results indicate that our proposed modifications result in an average 27.8% increase in lifespan of the overall WSN when compared to the existing protocols.
