Photovoltaic (PV) panels can encounter various issues due to an aggressive working environment and malfunctions caused by environmental or human factors. these issues, known as faults, can significantly reduce PV system performance and increase the risk of fire. To address this, numerous diagnostic methods have been developed, with fault classification being a principal part of diagnosing faults in PV panels. this article proposes a fault classification approach using two machine learning algorithms, with I(V) characteristics as input parameters. these algorithms are designed to identify three specific faults in the series-parallel configuration of solar panels: partial shading, bypass diode short circuits, and ground fault. these faults are commonly found in photovoltaic fields. Data preprocessing techniques are employed to enhance the quality of the fault dataset. A comparison is made between two algorithms, considering factors such as accuracy, Standard deviation of scores, root mean square error (RMSE). Experimental results show that the diagnostic algorithm based on random forest (RF) exhibits higher precision and generalization capability compared to k-Nearest Neighbors (kNN) for classifying faults in photovoltaic modules within a solar field. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Currently, the landscape of computer hardware architecture presents the characteristics of heterogeneity and diversity, prompting widespread attention to cross-platform portable parallel programming techniques. Most existing portable programming approaches adopt the "MPI+X" strategy, focusing mainly on node-level "X" parallelism, while inter-node parallelization still relies on manual MPI programming. OP2 is a domain-specific language-based portable parallel programming framework for unstructured mesh applications that supports the automatic generation of MPI parallel code. However, programmers must manually write pre-processing code during code refactoring, such as handling the mapping relationship between global and process-local variables and the initial distribution of process-local data. In this paper, we propose MARO (MPI Automatic Refactoring for OP2), an automatic refactoring method for generating pre-processing code targeting MPI code generation within the OP2 programming framework for unstructured mesh applications. this method automatically generates the pre-processing code required for MPI parallelism through the source-to-source translator, enabling OP2 to generate MPI parallel code without requiring users to write MPI-related code manually. We compare the automatically refactored OP2 applications using the proposed method with those manually refactored to validate its effectiveness. the proposed method enhances OP2’s automatic parallel code generation capability, enabling it to achieve fully automatic MPI parallelization. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Dataflow architectures can achieve much better performance and higher efficiency than general-purpose core, approaching the performance of a specialized design while retaining programmability. However, dataflow architectures often face challenges of low utilization of computational resources if the application algorithms are irregular. In this paper, we propose a software and hardware co-design technique that makes both regular and irregular applications efficient on dataflow architectures. First, we dispatch instructions between dataflow graph (DFG) nodes to ensure load balance. Second, we decouple threads within the DFG nodes into consecutive pipeline stages and provide architectural support. By time-multiplexing these stages on each PE, dataflow hardware can achieve much higher utilization and performance. We show that our method improves performance by gmean 2.55x (and up to 3.71x) over a conventional dataflow architecture (and by gmean 1.80x over Plasticine) on a variety of challenging applications.

Online storage and use of digital assets and applications are both aspects of cloud computing. through a computer network, distributed information systems store and transmit data. Data and effort have both grown for studying and keeping track of outcomes. Cloud-based parallel processing techniques must be improved. Our research hastens the resolution of interactive composite jobs. In this innovative architecture, cell phones act as servers for distributed parallel processing and cloud computing. Users with restricted availability could find the update useful for completing challenging jobs. the recommended strategy is supported by cloud computing, which may expand to infinity servers (webserver). Servers between clients and servers are automatically registered by web servers. Cloud storage and client-side matrices (web server). To ensure timely completion, the server distributes matrix algebra assignments to all subscribed workstations. Before transmitting results to the user, the server uploads them to the cloud. A large number of sets of two-dimensional matrices were requested from the user, and the responses were compared to the total number of servers that were available. © 2023 IEEE.

the breadth-first search (BFS) algorithm is a fundamental algorithm in graph theory, and it’s parallelization can significantly improve performance. therefore, there have been numerous efforts to leverage the powerful parallel computing capabilities of hardware like GPGPU to implement high-performance BFS algorithms. However, the energy efficiency is relatively low due to the high power consumption of the platforms on which the algorithm is adapted to. To deal with these challenges, this paper introduces PEbfs that is a high-performance BFS algorithm based on the PEZY-SC3s efficient processor. We integrated three search algorithms, two algorithm optimization strategies, and a directional optimization scheme into PEbfs. through multiple evaluations of the performance of PEbfs on the public SNAP dataset, the results demonstrate that the average energy efficiency ratio of PEbfs is higher than that of Enterprise and Tigr, the two most advanced implementations on Nvidia’s GPGPU: It achieves 3.08× the average energy efficiency ratio of Enterprise and 4.53× that of Tigr. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is widely used today for both positioning and timing purposes. Many distinct receiver chips are available off-the-shelf, each tailored to match various applications' requirements. Being implemented as Application-Specific Integrated Circuits, these chips provide good performance and low energy consumption but must be treated as "black boxes" by customers. this prevents modification, research in GNSS processing chain enhancement (e.g., application of Approximate Computing techniques), and design-space exploration for finding the optimal receiver implementation per each use case. In this paper, we review the development of SyDR, an open-source Software-Defined Radio oriented towards benchmarking of GNSS algorithms. Specifically, our goal is to integrate certain components of the GNSS processing chain in a Field-Programmable Gate Array and manage their operation with a Python program using the Xilinx PYNQ flow. We present the early steps of converting parts of SyDR to C, which will be later converted to Hardware Description Language descriptions using High-Level Synthesis. We demonstrate successful conversion of the tracking process and discuss benefits and drawbacks arising thereof, before outlining next steps in preparation for hardware implementation.

Innovations in powerful high-performance computing (HPC) architecture are enabling high-fidelity whole-core neutron transport simulations at reasonable time. Especially, the currently fashionable heterogeneous architectures make the cost of such simulations at very low level. Neutron distribution of a reactor core is governed by the Boltzmann neutron transport equation (BTE), first viable solutions of which need tremendous computer resources. Among of the high-fidelity numerical methods, the discrete ordinates method (SN) is becoming popular in the reaction design community by taking a good balance between computational cost and accuracy. Recently, MT-3000, which is a multizone heterogeneous architecture with a peak double precision performance of 11.6 TFLOPS, is proposed. In this work, the BTE is solved by the SN with heterogenous Koch-Baker-Alcouffe (KBA) parallel algorithms based on the MT-3000 architecture. A communication mechanism has been established to efficiently transmit data among the acceleration cores and the CPU cores. the kernel computation procedure is largely accelerated by the vectorization and instruction pipelining techniques. Numerical experiments show that our formulation could achieve 1.37 TFLOPs with single MT-3000, that is 11.8% of its peak performance. © 2023 IEEE.
