Powerful computer algorithms have been developed for many of these tasks. Often these modules are rigid allowing for little intervention by the designer, and the management of the interactions of these tasks mostly relies on human intelligence. Better user interfaces are required to integrate more fully human ingenuity and the assistance of the computer into the overall design process. the most powerful cad systems should combine the power of programming, graphical visualization, and interactive adjustment of crucial design parameters.

Nowadays, many commercial cad systems support history-based, constraint-based and feature-based modeling. Unfortunately, most systems fail during the re-evaluation phase when various kind of topological changes occur. this issue is known as ''persistent naming" which refers to the problem of identifying entities in an initial parametric model and matching them in the re-evaluated model. Most works in this domain focus on the persistent naming of atomic entities such as vertices, edges or faces. But very few of them consider the persistent naming of aggregates like shells (connected set of faces). We propose in this paper a complete ftamework for extending a persistent naming model of atomic entities in order to identify and match any kind of shells based on their underlying topology.

this paper presents a new method for computer-aided molecular design (CAMD) and molecular assembly. A lab-built 5-DOF (degree of freedom) haptic device and the driving computational engine have been developed to provide force-torque feedback to the users for computer-aided molecular design (CAMD). An energy minimization method is proposed for finding collision-free molecular configurations in real-time for molecular docking and assembly. the proposed haptic force-torque feedback provides the users an intuitive tool for understanding the interactions among molecules. the presented techniques can be used in the computer-aided molecular design to provide the scientists or the designers a real-time intuitive guide for manipulating the ligand and understanding of the ligand's behavior towards the binding site of a receptor. computer implementation and illustrative examples are also presented in this paper.

Image inpainting technique has been widely used for reconstructing damaged old photographs and removing unwanted objects from images. In this paper, we present an image inpainting method based on the existing exemplar-based image inpainting idea. Our method improves the robustness and effectiveness by rational confidence computing method, matching strategy and filling scheme. therefore, our method effectively prevents "growing garbage", which is a common problem in other methods. With our method, we can obtain preferable results to those obtained by other similar methods.

the paper describes a set of strategies for mapping irregular codes onto commodity graphics hardware. We start identifying the resources that current GPUs contain for solving indirect array accesses entirely on hardware, like vertices, textures and color tables. We then show how multiple indirections can be mapped onto the graphics pipeline, basically taking advantage of its streaming architecture for sequencing the indirections through subsequent pipeline stages. Our techniques are applied over typical irregular kernels like the sparse matrix-vector multiply and the Euler solver Execution times on the GeForce Series consistently outperform the Pentium 4 and Athlon 64 processors, with performance depending on floating-point precision.

Geometric property estimation of the scattered point data is a key task in reverse engineering. A common approach is to estimate the local surface geometric properties, such as normal vectors and curvatures, at each point by locally fitting a low order parametric polynomial surface to a neighborhood of its nearest points. However existing parametric surface methods do not always achieve satisfactory estimates because of theoretical and practical reasons. Motivated by improving geometric properties estimation we propose a novel approach based on local quadric surface fitting. Experimental results are presented to verify the feasibility of the proposed method.
