this research provides insight into applying self-service checkout kiosks in supermarkets to create innovative service experiences based on gender. A self-service checkout kiosk is essentially a device that allows consumers to interact directly with a supermarket, receive service at their convenience, increase revenues and streamline all purchasing processes. this innovative technology allows customers to have a better user experience without queues. To know the gender difference of self-service checkout kiosks' innovative service, this study began with the user-centered process that integrates emotional design and user experience design to analyze the supermarket's application scenarios of self-service checkout kiosks. then we proposed eighteen innovative functions to create better service experiences for customers. We use Kano's Model method to design a questionnaire and invite candidate users to evaluate the proposed innovative functions by converting each respondent's answer to a score of "satisfaction potential." the Kano's Model evaluation results are then classified the proposed innovative functions into must-be, one-dimensional, attractive, and indifference categories and show gender differences. the results of this research show that gender does affect system performance and users' satisfaction classification, priority, and user experience to the proposed self-service checkout kiosk innovative functions. the results also show a comprehensive analysis of the gender difference in the innovative function design of supermarket self-service checkout kiosks. the contributions of this research can not only be used by the stakeholders of supermarkets to draw their strategies for deploying self-service checkout kiosks but also provide a better user experience design to the supermarket customers. thus, in future designs, designers can refer to the results of this study to design self-checkout kiosks for offline retail shops based on brands with different positioning.

Aiming at the problem that interactive design teaching system is difficult to express interactive information intuitively, a reliability analysis method of three-dimensional light rail landscape interactive design teaching system based on virtual reality is proposed. the reliability analysis framework of the system hardware structure is built with ARM chip as the core, and 3D production software is used to create a virtual display of 3D scene. the scene combines 2D design and 3D representation closely to realize OpenGL dynamic browsing of the scene. In order to improve the effectiveness of landscape interactive design teaching, a reliability analysis framework for the cooperation relationship of structural modules is designed based on real-time state-driven data. through the reliability analysis module of subsystem state synchronization control, the data synchronization transmission is optimized, and the state data synchronization between multi-level subsystems is realized. the framework difference method is introduced to further optimize the reliability analysis method of three-dimensional light rail landscape interaction design teaching system, perceive abnormal interaction information, and analyze the reliability of three-dimensional light rail landscape information interaction process and interaction behavior between teachers and students in teaching. the experimental results show that this method can successfully realize the information exchange under all interaction nodes. © ICST Institute for computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering 2024.

In this age of technology, the higher demand of renewable energy has become the main factor that contributes to the increasing power consumption. the electrical power generated needs to match with the load demand or the power consumption of the consumers, or else it will lead to the mismatch of supply and demand problem. However, the spike in the load demand will impact the electricity cost of the consumers. therefore, the purpose of this research is to find an optimal solution to shave the peak load to reduce the electricity bills of the consumers. there are a lot of controllers that can be used to control the scheduling of the battery, and this research will focus on battery scheduling by using Model Predictive Controller (MPC). the MPC technique is able to control the battery energy storage system (BESS) to discharge during the peak hours and also charge during the off-peak hours. However, the MPC has a complex and high optimization algorithm due to its dynamic model, but MPC technique ensures that it is environment-friendly compared to the traditional method of peak-shaving. this research proposed the battery logic control to schedule the charge-discharge of the battery and for the MPC to optimize and get the best output for the peak shaving. the MPC design will be done by using MATLAB as the main software as it is very ideal to simulate the peak shaving by using MPC optimization © 2023 IEEE.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, signs and barriers were used to guide people through spaces in accordance with social distancing mandates. Such measures were unable to accommodate for fluctuating traffic and complexities of human behavior – leading to inconsistent effectiveness and a diminishing of social life in once-active public spaces. Toward a more flexible and engaging means of guidance, this research brings together computer vision, human behavioral modeling, and light projection to create an installation that suggests paths to pedestrians in real-time. through the processing of positional data, it predicts optimal trajectories for each pedestrian that accounts for the movement of others and the environment around them. the projected visuals then present these animated paths as part of a fluid and open-ended spatial interface that aims to improve pedestrian efficiency while sparking social interactions. In a month-long installation of the system in a frequently trafficked space, we observed individuals serendipitously connect through the projections. though limitations in the scale of the installation constrained its depth, Social Signals has the potential to improve the built environment not through material interventions but rather through highlighting human interactions. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

this paper highlights the design, analytical modelling and studies on a cylindrical levitation system for magnetic bearing applications. the full levitation system has been designed with spirit level accuracy. the paper also presents the mathematical force derivation in both the x and y directions to achieve a better system performance and stability. the velocity and position during sustained oscillation has also been observed. Magnetic Bearings provide a no contact levitation method for bearings and are advantageous over conventional mechanical bearings in the fact that the absence of contact frictional forces helps in greatly increasing the rotational speed and reducing mechanical losses for the running machines. Moreover, magnetic bearings are more efficient in suspending shafts of high-output motors running at high speeds as compared to mechanical bearings. © 2022 IEEE.

Reversible logic gates are universally adopted to replace the classical gates in various circuits to avail the advantages of power reduction and speed maximization. the application of reversible gates includes various fields like Quantum computing, Nano technology, low power CMOS, optical computing etc. Reversible gates are the key components for the quantum circuits. Here reversible gates are used to design a dynamic light weight S-box. the S-box is the key circuit component for cryptographic algorithm. the combination of Controlled NOT(CNOT), Peres and Selim Al Mamun (SAM) gates are used to achieve the dynamic nature of the S-Box. the simulation analysis is made to evaluate the cryptographic properties such as Avalanche Criteria (AC), Strict Avalanche Criteria (SAC), Bit Independence Criteria (BIC) and Nonlinearity to measure the strength and reliability of the proposed S-box. the comparative performance investigation is done with the Rijndael S-box used in popular AES algorithm as it was widely accepted by NISTIR and still shows that the proposed S-Box outperform with respect to the existing S-box. Use of input dependant reversible logic gate combination enhances the performance of the S-box in both classical and quantum computer. © 2022 IEEE.

Medical image classification plays a key role in computer-aided detection and diagnosis systems. Conventional machine learning, neural network-based approaches strongly depends on the type of features i.e. texture, edge, shape, and/or blob along with their amalgamations, extracted from the medical image. Since most of the feature extraction algorithms are specific to the modalities and problem. the machine learning or neural network-based model built using these features lack- of generalization and high-level problem representation ability. Deep Learning (DL) methods based on deep features deliver an active way to build an edge-to-edge model which has the ability to reckon the classification labels with the input raw pixels of medical domain images. Due to the unavailability of massive medical data, high noise rate, and resolution of medical images, DL approaches grieve in terms of classification rate. To improve the classification rate, we propose to fuse the contemporary features (high-level features) extracted from a deep convolution neural network (DCNN) and conventional texture features. the building of the planned model comprises the subsequent steps. Firstly, DCNNs (MobileNet, GoogelNet, and Resnet.) are trained as feature extractors, and the feature vectors are extracted. Second, we extract the traditional texture features of medical images. Lastly, we fuse the deep features and texture features which represent robust high-level features for medical image classification. We assess the proposed method on standard medical image benchmark datasets: MEDMNIST We attain classification accuracy of 99.1%, experimental results confirm that fusing texture features and deep learning features results in the increase of accuracy of medical image classification. © 2022 Bharati Vidyapeeth, New Delhi.

Architectural design is strongly based on visual and spatial reasoning, which is not easy to translate into algorithmic descriptions and, eventually, running programs, making it difficult for architects to use computational approaches, such as Algorithmic design (AD). One of the most pressing problems is program comprehension. To overcome it, we propose an automatic illustration system for AD programs that produces annotated schemes of the program’s meaning. the illustration system focuses on a basic set of geometric elements used in most calculations to place geometry in space (points, distances, angles, vectors, etc.), and on the way they are manipulated to create more complex geometric entities. the proposed system automatically extracts the information from the AD program and the resulting illustrations can then be integrated into the AD program itself, intertwined with the instructions they intend to explain. this article presents the implementation of this solution using an AD tool to generate the illustrations and a computational notebook to intertwine the program and the illustrations. It discusses the choices made on the system’s implementation, the expected workflow for such a system, and potential future developments. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

With the rise of the gig economy, online language tutoring platforms are becoming increasingly popular. these platforms provide temporary and flexible jobs for native speakers as tutors and allow language learners to have one-on-one speaking practices on demand, on which learners occasionally practice the language with different tutors. With such distributed tutorship, learners can hold flexible schedules and receive diverse feedback. However, learners face challenges in consistently tracking their learning progress because different tutors provide feedback from diverse standards and perspectives, and hardly refer to learners' previous experiences with other tutors. We present RLens, a visualization system for facilitating learners' learning progress reflection by grouping different tutors' feedback, tracking how each feedback type has been addressed across learning sessions, and visualizing the learning progress. We validate our design through a between-subjects study with 40 real-world learners. Results show that learners can successfully analyze their progress and common language issues under distributed tutorship with RLens, while most learners using the baseline interface had difficulty achieving reflection tasks. We further discuss design considerations of computer-aided systems for supporting learning under distributed tutorship. © 2022 ACM.

In order to protect and inherit the non-legacy resources of Huangmei flower picking and promote the digital development and innovation of traditional culture, this paper, based on the study of the artistic characteristics of Huangmei flower picking, digitises and innovates the Huangmei flower picking through the VGG-19 optimisation model in the computer deep learning technology, and based on the style migration algorithm, it can quickly derive the innovative texture that meets the social and popular aesthetic needs and inherits the traditional Huangmei pattern characteristics. graphics, thus promoting the inheritance and development of Huangmei picket patterns. this study organically combines computer technology with the innovation and redesign of Huangmei flower picking pattern, which not only improves the design efficiency of the new pattern, but also broadens the dissemination channels and media of Huangmei flower picking, and promotes the digital protection and development of traditional culture.
