In post-disaster scenario, the irregular and scattered distribution of obstacles usually poses challenges to emergency communications. As a promising technology, reconfigurable intelligence surfaces (RISs) can reduce the impact of obstacles and expand the coverage of the base station (BS) by optimizing their phase-shift and deployment. However, the existing work has only applied RISs to barrier-free or simple-barrier scenarios. In this paper, multi-RIS-aided emergency communications are studied under the complex-barrier scenario after disasters, where strong coupling between RISs is introduced. Specifically, we jointly optimize the phase-shift and deployment of multiple RISs to maximize the weight sum-rate (WSR) with ensuring communications fairness for post-disaster users. An alternating iterative algorithm for this multi-RIS-aided complex-barrier scenario (AI-MRCB) is proposed, which is based on the successive convex approximation (SCA) and the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM). Simulation results show that the proposed AI-MRCB method can deploy RISs appropriately and improve users’ WSR than the existing work.

the rapid population growth and urbanization in Indonesia have escalated the demand for affordable and habitable housing. Subsidized housing development has been posited as a solution to this burgeoning need. However, conventional construction methods grapple with challenges such as limited land availability, elevated costs, extended durations, subpar building quality, adverse environmental impacts, and associated social issues. Consequently, this research aims to design prefabricated building component modules for subsidized housing as an alternative construction methodology that is swift, environmentally friendly, and reduces construction waste. the adopted method was experimental, focusing on the design of building component modules, which were subsequently simulated using a computeraideddesign (CAD) application. this study endeavors to elucidate the requirements for affordable and habitable housing in Indonesia. It has produced prefabricated building component modules for subsidized housing as a reference for application. the anticipated outcomes of this research are expected to significantly contribute to the evolution of a more rapid, eco friendly subsidized housing construction methodology that minimizes construction waste. this would pave the way for more efficient and effective subsidized housing development, catering to societal housing needs without compromising environmental integrity during construction.

Watching animals use digital technology is known to affect our attitudes towards them, but there has been little empirical study of this topic. there is a need for greater understanding of how technology can shape people's perceptions of other species, since human attitudes are a significant factor in animal welfare. We studied the effects of a digital installation, created as enrichment for zoo-housed orangutans. It was hypothesised that seeing the installation in use would strengthen zoo visitors' perceptions of orangutans' intellect and strengthen support for their conservation. Effects were investigated through visitor interviews (n=39) and surveys (n=101), comparing responses of people who saw the installation withthose who did not. Seeing primates use the digital installation was found to be associated with stronger attribution of cognitive abilities. Watching animals comprehend game rules, and seeing their human-like patterns of interaction seemed to contribute to this effect. However, no overall impact was found on attitudes to orangutan conservation. this research provides insights into the potential effects of animal-computer interaction on the attitudes of human observers, and suggests avenues for technology design to strengthen people's understanding of animal minds.

User-centric network is regarded as a promising technology for future mobile networks to achieve high quality-of-service (QoS) requirements. However, withthe massive deployment of access points (APs), power consumption and interference management have become challenging tasks. To address the problem, we explore an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) aided downlink user-centric network, utilizing IRSs to reduce power consumption and improve system performance. Considering user mobility and the effect of IRSs on the channel, we formulate a time-varying sum rate maximization problem and propose an effective alternating optimization algorithm that jointly optimizes the passive beamforming at IRSs, active beamforming at APs, and AP clustering. As for the proposed algorithm, AP clustering is solved using the discrete particle swarm optimization and beamforming is optimized based on the fractional programming method. Our simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve significant sum rate improvement compared with baseline algorithms.
