the advancements in communication technology enable learners to use mobile technology anytime and anywhere to access up-to-date educational resources tailored to their individual needs. thus, mobile learning offers the potential for personalised, informal and ubiquitous learning processes, which is particularly important for language learning. Mobile-Assisted Language Learning leveraged by accessible mobile apps is an ideal setup for time and location independent language learning at an individual learning speed. this paper analyses the effectiveness of three of the highest-trending language learning mobile apps of 2021/2022 by comparing their most current efficacy studies. Babbel, Busuu and Duolingo have been selected for this purpose. Although limiting the ranking of the apps' language teaching effectiveness to the studies discussed is not advised, a critical analysis of the three efficacy studies showed Busuu to be in the lead. Its research provided the most comprehensive and outstanding results for reading/grammar and oral proficiency based on its design and the variables considered. Duolingo achieved even higher results for the receptive skills reading and listening, but it was considered second in line due its study design and the lack of control over various influencing factors (e.g. study time and prior proficiency). Finally, Babbel was considered the least effective, as most learners did not exceed the beginner level even though the duration of the study exceeded Busuu's by four weeks. © 2023 ACM.

Common path pessimism removal (CPPR) is a key step to eliminating unwanted pessimism during static timing analysis (STA). Unwanted pessimism will force designers and optimization algorithms to waste a significant yet unnecessary amount of effort on fixing paths that meet the intended timing constraints. However, CPPR is extremely time-consuming and can incur 10-100x runtime overheads to complete. Existing solutions for speeding up CPPR are architecturally constrained by CPU-only parallelism, and their runtimes do not scale beyond 8-16 cores. In this paper, we introduce HeteroCPPR, a new algorithm to accelerate CPPR by harnessing the power of heterogeneous CPU-GPU parallelism. We devise an efficient CPU-GPU task decomposition strategy and highly optimized GPU kernels to handle CPPR that scales to large numbers of paths. Also, HeteroCPPR can scale to multiple GPUs. As an example, HeteroCPPR is up to 16x faster than a state-of-theart CPU-parallel CPPR algorithm for completing the analysis of 10K post-CPPR critical paths in a million-gate design under a machine of 40 CPUs and 4 GPUs.

the housing department in Wisma Darul Aman plays an important role in planning, coordinating, and developing housing schemes for low-income Malaysians. However, the manual process of recording and storing applicant information on paper is time-consuming for the staff, and retrieving applicant information can be challenging. thus, the main objective of this study is to design and develop the Housing Interview Management System (HIMS) for the housing department. the system manages applicant information, enabling storage, retrieval, modification, and deletion, while generating scores based on their responses, offering a more accurate and efficient solution for the Wisma Darul Aman housing department. To design and develop the system, Prototyping Software Development Methodology was used, which consists of identifying the requirements through interview sessions with housing department staff, designing the system, building the prototype using PHP and JavaScript, conducting user evaluation among housing department staff, refining prototype, and implementing and maintaining the system. the findings of the evaluation show that the system is useful and easy to use. Most respondents expressed high satisfaction with the system, indicating that the system worked as desired and effectively facilitated the housing interview process. the study highlights the significant potential of the HIMS to streamline the housing department’s interview process, contributing to improved affordable housing delivery for low-income Malaysians. © 2024, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

In the era of the fast-growing communication world, wireless communication plays a vital role in transferring information between senders and the receivers. RFID (Radio Frequency Identification and Detection) communication is making ease to monitor, data capture, and identify different types of equipment and assets. there is a need to develop a reader antenna which uses hybrid technology and integrate with the indoor applications. In this paper, a new design of reader microstrip patch antenna is proposed using CST Microwave Studio simulation software. A low weight, circularly polarized antenna is proposed using FR4 as a substrate with dielectric constant ?r=4.2 and loss tangent tan d=0.025. Characteristics of microstrip patch antenna such as VSWR, gain, S11, and radiation pattern were analyzed at resonant frequency of 5.43GHz. the result was verified by the fabrication of the antenna, resonating at 5.5 GHz and found to be used for Indoor Localization of inventory management and supply chain administration. VSWR of the antenna is 1.05 and the gain of the antenna is 2.05 dBi. the overall size occupied by the antenna is 50×50×1.6 mm. © 2022 IEEE.

As clinical practice has become increasingly evidence-based, depending only on the controlled clinical trials approach to provide evidence becomes a bottleneck challenge. It is not only due to the tough criteria to design, execution, and analysis of the investigations associated with these clinical trials but also due to the missing link to bring more evidence through data-driven analytics. Data-driven analytics is the process of interpreting or translating the quantitative data at the bench to reveal qualitative insights, answer questions, provide evidence and identify prognosis trends. It also referenced as the translational medicine from the bench to the bedside. While this translational approach hold the promise of providing innovative and personalized medical evidences that can have important implication to enhance patient care and enforce more interoperable privacy preserving policies, it is only represent one way system that do not consider the reverse direction of including the clinical science at the bedside. Based on Lawrence Weed (MD) initiative that was introduced in early 1970, this research provide an investigation into adopting more comprehensive translational solution that provide the integration between the bench and the bedside into directions based on the notion of knowledge couplers (which is part of Weed's POMR initiative (Problem-Oriented Medical Record)). Our proposed bridging utilizes the problem-list interconnectivity and the constraints graph. Our QL4POMR prototype has been extended to demonstrate the applicability of these knowledge couplers for achieving translational informatics providing essential evidence-based decision-making services and privacy preserving tasks based on GraphQL APIs. © 2023 IEEE.

there may be situations of resource dispersion, information isolation, and duplicate construction among different universities, resulting in low efficiency and uneven quality of resource utilization. therefore, studying how to establish a resource sharing system for innovation and entrepreneurship education in universities is of great significance. the conventional university innovation and entrepreneurship education resource sharing system mainly uses the Web Server system to process service requests, which is susceptible to the impact of service binding and retrieval, resulting in long system query time. therefore, it is necessary to design a new university innovation and entrepreneurship education resource sharing system based on the cloud service platform. the hardware part is designed with FPGA chips, IDE controllers, and PIO transmitters. the software part is based on the cloud service platform to build an education resource sharing scenario, construct an education resource sharing architecture, and design an innovation and entrepreneurship education resource function module to shorten the time for education resource sharing. Integrating hardware and software to achieve resource sharing of innovation and entrepreneurship education in universities. the system testing results indicate that under the preset testing environment, the performance of the university innovation and entrepreneurship education resource sharing system designed in this article based on the cloud service platform is good, and all functional modules have passed the system testing, proving that the designed education resource sharing system has a certain degree of reliability and has made a certain contribution to promoting the development of university innovation and entrepreneurship. © 2024, ICST Institute for computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

With the emergence of Internet of things, massive data created in the world pose huge technical challenges for efficient processing. Processing in-memory (PIM) technology has been widely investigated to overcome expensive data movements between processors and memory blocks. However, existing PIM designs incur large area overhead to enable computing capability via additional near-data processing cores and analog/mixed signal circuits. In this paper, we propose a new massively-parallel processing in-memory (PIM) architecture, called CHOIR, based on emerging nonvolatile memory technology for big data classification. Unlike existing PIM designs which demand large analog/mixed signal circuits, we support the parallel PIM instructions for conditional and arithmetic operations in an area-efficient way. As a result, the classification solution performs both training and testing on the PIM architecture by fully utilizing the massive parallelism. Our design significantly improves the performance and energy efficiency of the classification tasks by 123x and 52x respectively as compared to the state-of-the-art tree boosting library running on GPU.

As sustainability awareness is increasing within architecture, we witness the emergence of new design approaches seeking to minimize greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and production of waste. Biodesign addresses such challenges by integrating living organisms within processes of design and manufacturing harnessing their natural performances. this paper aims to outline design principles integrating a living organism, cyanobacteria, in an additive co-fabrication process by utilizing its three main performances: photosynthesis, calcium carbonate precipitation (CaCO3) and carbon dioxide (CO2) fixation. Cyanobacteria, through photosynthesis, precipitate CaCO3 which enhances the adhesion between cells and surfaces. through microbially induced CaCO3 (MICP), cyanobacteria can bind sand particles together and enhance soil stability as seen in the formation of biological soil crusts. With the rise of additive manufacturing (AM) techniques, integrating cyanobacteria within additive biofabrication processes can be advantageous in improving sustainable architectural production. Leveraging computational design tools, this paper aims to construct design guidelines that cater to cyanobacterial needs towards optimizing biomass production and, consequently, the architectural performance of the printed components. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
