WiMAX technology provides a Quality of Service (QoS) system that allows system operators to configure a network to provide maximum performance compared to conventional Best Effort (BE) systems. In this paper, we address the increase in number of data rich mobile devices and the performance issues associated with Video On Demand (VOD) multimedia traffic over a WiMAX network. We present the results of application testing using WiMAX protocol where the main focus is to show how utilizing a QoS system can benefit streaming real time multimedia. the results show how WiMAX technology is beneficial to multimedia applications.

Combinatorial problems are NP-complete, which means even infinite number of CPUs take polynomial time to search an optimal solution. therefore approximate search algorithms such as Genetic Algorithms are used. However, such an approximate search algorithm easily falls into local optimum and just distributed / parallel processing seems inefficient. In this paper, this inefficiency is shown by simulation using TSP library as the example of optimal route scheduling. then, an autonomous distributed GA to cope with this inefficiency through exchanging information about individuals (to calculate fitness /divergence /situation) among autonomous CPUs is proposed in solving real-time combinatorial problems. Using TSP library again, its effectiveness is shown by simulation experiments.

Low-Power and Lossy Networks (LLNs) are an enabling technology for many internet of things (IoT) applications. To allow LLNs to interoperate with the internet the IETF is specifying IP-compatible standards that are specifically designed for embedded devices with small memory and limited computing capabilities. the purpose of this paper is to investigate the interplay between the recently proposed IETF standard for IPv6 routing in LLNs, called RPL, with state-of-the-art autoconfiguration algorithms that assign network addresses in a hierarchical manner. To this end, we have extended the default RPL implementation available in Contiki operating system to support T-DAAP, LISAA and DAAM addressing schemes. Our experimental results clearly show that the mechanisms used by RPL to configure and maintain a tree-based network topology frequently break address hierarchy, limiting the opportunities for route aggregation. Furthermore, classical techniques used to reduce network instability significantly increase the network setup times and, in same cases, degrade path qualities.

Blockchain and internet of things (IoT), two of the top disruptive technologies, are already on their way of reshaping our future of the digital world, characterized by a drastic change in the current network architecture. Incorporation of IoT has brought the objects around us to life, making them 'smart' and capable of communicating with each other, thereby amassing massive data by constantly capturing the physical world, for analyzing and performing some intelligent action based on the same. It has made possible our dream of seamless integration of the digital and physical worlds, changing the very essence of our perception of the physical world. But, the problem with current IoT solutions is its need for a centralized party (like a cloud server), for connecting and communicating via the internet, which poses a great threat to the privacy and security of the vast sensitive data being generated, whereas the original architecture design demands for a decentralized one like distributed or peer -to- peer (P2P) system. So, blockchain comes into play, providing a secure and trustworthy way of sharing information using a distributed/P2P model, to achieve transparency, security, privacy, auditability, resilience, access authentication, data immutability, etc. In this paper, we will look into how to combine both the technologies to overcome their shortcomings and obtain a greater gain from their benefits. We have presented a comprehensive survey on the basics of both the technologies, and the blockchain-based IoT (BIoT) architecture, protocols and functioning, and few examples BIoT applications that can be built on top of it, and comparison. Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications emerge to achieve ubiquitous communications among all the networked devices. One challenging problem in M2M applications is to discover the resources provided by the devices efficiently. this challenge arises from two perspectives: (1) a large number of heterogeneous devices co-exist and most of them are constrained devices (e. g., limited processing capability), (2) different communication protocols are utilized to get access to different types of resources provided by the devices (e. g., humidity information provided by a sensor). this paper proposes distributed resource directory architecture for M2M applications, referred to as DRD4M. the DRD4M supports heterogeneous devices using HTTP and CoAP protocols for resource registration and lookup. this enables the interoperability among heterogeneous devices and resource access to constrained devices from disparate network including the internet. the DRD4M introduces two components: a resource registration component for registering resources and a resource lookup component with caching functionality for handling resource lookup with filtering. A peer-to-peer (P2P) overlay is introduced in DRD4M to connect resource peers to avoid single point of failure. A real-world prototype is implemented and is verified with a demo application. Preliminary performance evaluation in terms of response time of resource lookup is provided.

With the resurgence of virtualization technology, today's internet data centers are shifting towards virtualized data centers. internet applications tend to see dynamically varying workloads. To address the problem of performance management for multitier applications hosted in virtualized internet data center, we propose a three-level automatic provisioning framework based on feedback control for multitier applications. Experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our technique in SLA guarantees while obtaining improved resource utilization.

Nowadays information published in the internet has become a common knack for all. As a result volume of information has become huge. To handle that huge volume information, Web researchers are introduced various types of search engines. Efficiently Web-page crawling and resource repository building mechanisms are an important part of a search engine. Currently, Web researchers are already introduced various types of Web search crawler mechanism for the various search engines. In this paper, we have introduced a new design and development mechanism of domain-specific Web search crawler, which uses multilevel domain classifiers and crawls multiple domain related Web-pages, uses parallel crawling, etc. Two domain classifiers used to identify domain-specific Web-pages. these two domain classifiers are used one after the other, i.e., two levels. that's why we are calling this Web search crawler is a multilevel domain-specific Web search crawler. © 2013 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
