the identification of implicit topics within text data from online review platforms poses a significant challenge to existing sentiment analysis tools. this study proposes a novel sentiment analysis framework based on revised Support Vector Machine (SVM) mode. It integrates a multidimensional analysis of context, semantics, and lexical-grammatical features, and is enhanced with feature extraction methods optimized for implicit expressions. Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of this model in enhancing sentiment classification accuracy, particularly in dealing with texts that contain implicit topics.

Immersive computing signifies a paradigm shift in how people interact with digital content and their surrounding 3D environments. In this vision paper, we first outline a comprehensive roadmap for advancing immersive computing, encompassing virtual, augmented, and mixed reality, which are often collectively referred to as extended reality, and immersive content delivery, including 360-degree panoramic video streaming and volumetric video streaming, by identifying key challenges and opportunities. We then describe CoMIC, a research infrastructure that offers a collaborative, visual-first, and hologram-based computing space and a quality-driven, multi-site, and immersive communication framework for collaborative mobile immersive computing. Given the interdisciplinary nature of immersive computing, we present several key use cases that could be enabled by CoMIC. We conclude this paper by envisioning a future where our digital experiences will transcend the boundaries of screens and devices, immersing us in a world where the virtual and physical seamlessly merge.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Deep Learning (DL) are pervasive today, with applications spanning from personal assistants to healthcare. Nowadays, the accelerated migration towards mobile computing and Internet of things, where a huge amount of data is generated by widespread end devices, is determining the rise of the edge computing paradigm, where computing resources are distributed among devices with highly heterogeneous capacities. In this fragmented scenario, efficient component placement and resource allocation algorithms are crucial to orchestrate at best the computing continuum resources. In this paper, we propose a tool to effectively address the component placement problem for AI applications at design time. through a randomized greedy algorithm, it identifies the placement of minimum cost providing performance guarantees across heterogeneous resources including edge devices, cloud GPU-based Virtual Machines and Function as a Service solutions.

Fog computing is a distributed paradigm that extends cloud computing closer to the edge of the network, and even beyond that. By employing local resources, it enables quicker and more effective data processing and analysis. the optimization and automation of resource allocation, data processing, and job scheduling in the fog environment are made possible by the application of machine learning to Fog computing Orchestration. It is also important, when working with the network computing models, to consider the XaaS paradigm, as it promotes the flexibility and scalability of fog services, bringing the concept of “service” into the foreground. therefore, the need for a fog orchestrator enabling such characteristics arises, leveraging AI and the “service-centric” approach to enhance users’ service fruition. the design and development of such an orchestrator will be the objective of the early-stage PhD project presented in this paper.

Security requirements should be realized in the design phase of a secure software system. Security patterns are artifacts used to implement security requirements as to security controls and features. the strength in the security of software systems is directly proportional to the number of security patterns used. We can use the number of existing security patterns to measure the security strength of software systems. therefore, early detection of the absence of security patterns or non-standard security features will tremendously reduce development and maintenance costs. We first convert the security patterns and the software system model into graphs and store them as matrices in the security pattern detection process. then, we explore and detect security patterns inside the software system using a matching technique. Finally, we remove false positives with the help of a semantic analysis technique. this paper proposes a diagonally distributed matrix matching (DDMM) technique for detecting security patterns. the detection technique uses a standard security pattern matrix (SPM). It selects the main diagonal of the SPM. then compares it for matching with the diagonals of the target system matrix (TSM) using all possible combinations of diagonal elements. A security pattern detection tool is implemented based on the proposed DDMM technique. the experimental results show sufficient detection accuracy and reasonable time consumption for five java-based software projects with zero false positives. © 2022 IEEE.

CFN(Compute First networking) is an intelligent new network with computation at its core and networking as its foundation, integrating Computational, storage, and transmission resources. Computational resources and network resources in the CFN are ubiquitous and heterogeneous. In the traditional Internet identifier system, IP addresses have limited extension, poor semantic scalability, making it challenging to incorporate information about computational and network resources into the network and hindering unified description. this paper introduces a multi-dimensional identifier system-based mechanism for computational and network resource awareness. It perceives computational network resources and employs service identifier for unified mapping. Additionally, it designs workflows for computational and network resource awareness, accomplishing tasks such as computational resource notification, request, query, update, as well as network resource detection, collection, and feedback. this facilitates functionality for service localization and computational network resource awareness. Finally, a prototype system was constructed based on the programmable data plane to experimentally evaluate the functionality and performance of the resource awareness mechanism. the results indicate that in a CFN scenario, this mechanism can support real-time perception and updates of computational network resources. In the context of distributed computing services, compared to traditional network deployments, the mechanism reduces latency by approximately 10%.

Trajectory User Linking (TUL) is the problem of identifying the user (i.e., his identity) from the trajectories generated by him. Existing works on TUL leverage a single trajectory for identifying a user. We propose a novel problem called Multi-Trajectory User Linking (MTUL), which leverages all available trajectories generated by a particular user to identify him. thus, MTUL is essentially the generalized TUL problem. this problem has significant applications in Location-Based Services (LBSs) such as personalized route planning and point-of-interests (POI) recommendation, movement anomaly detection, etc. We provide an end-to-end solution to the MTUL problem using sequence embedding and GRU and achieve reasonable accuracy by taking into account the POI type and region information. We consider this work to be an important addition to the TUL research. © 2022 Association for computing Machinery.

the User-PC computing system (UPC) has been devised to provide a very low-cost distributed computing platform to members of a group, using idling resources of their personal computers (PCs). Based on the master-worker model, the master PC accepts jobs from users and assigns them to available worker PCs. Unfortunately, an efficient job assignment method has not been implemented yet. In this paper, we propose a static job scheduling algorithm considering the CPU core utilization, for the UPC system. Given a set of independent jobs, this two-stage heuristic algorithm finds an assigned worker for each job in order to minimize the makespan. To efficiently utilize CPU cores in worker PCs, the first stage groups workers and jobs into several classes according to the number of available cores or threads. It then greedily sets up job-worker assignments in each class independently. the second stage improves the assignments with a local search method by randomly moving job-worker assignments between different classes. For evaluation, we conducted experiments using six worker PCs and up to 27 jobs. Our algorithm could reduce the makespan by up to 60% compared to three baseline scheduling algorithms. However, its performance gradually decreases as the number of jobs significantly increases.
