Smart grids are in their developing stages, but they are going to impact the world soon. the more they influence us, the more they have a threat of being misused. Industrial Internet of things(IIoT) is being extensively used in various smart grid based applications. IIoT has been an area for cyber-attacks to drastically affect various industries and businesses. Existing technologies are just not enough to deal with cyber-physical systems. Blockchain can help in creating more efficient, secure and reliable IIoT systems. Such systems, which involve rapid, distributed and complex energy transactions and data exchanges often face integrity and trust related issues. Blockchain can provide a solution to such problems. third-party interactions have been removed using blockchain based smart contracts, thereby facilitating the adoption of decentralization and establishing a global truth across all the nodes in the network. Efficiency can further be increased by logging only the most important events like faults in the system or injection of malicious data. this paper proposes an innovative collective decision algorithm using blockchain to build a resilient network of Phasor Measurement Units(PMUs) for Wide Area Measurement System(WAMS). the algorithm not only identifies "malicious" nodes in the system but also takes the correct decision, even in their presence, to perform further action. the proposed solution is validated on a hardware-in-loop platform with the hardware PMUs connected on an IEEE 9 bus system.

Increasing competition forces business organizations to improve the efficiency of their operational business processes, certainly where costly physical resources are involved. By integrating real-time, IoT-based information from these resources into business processes, advanced real-time decision making can be realized to enable the required efficiency increase. there are various challenges though. Firstly, the resources can be large in number, heterogeneous in nature and owned by different business parties. Secondly, the data is typically heterogeneous in format and large in volume. thirdly, business scenarios are diverse and evolve over time. Consequently, converting IoT data into usable information to drive business processes is not a trivial task. To address this, we propose the use of a novel combination of existing technologies in distributed analytics (DA) and business process management (BPM). To deal with the size, heterogeneity and ownership of data, we don't bring the data to the analytics, but bring the analytics in a distributed format to the data. We use parameterized micro-services that are packed into software containers to make them dynamically deployable from a service repository into the IoT edge. To deal with the number of IoT resources and the diversity of scenarios, we automate the deployment and management processes of the containerized micro-services using a BPM engine. this engine interprets graphically specified process models that define the data flow between the DA modules and business decision making. Our approach leaves large amounts of raw data at its origin and is highly flexible in its data processing scheme. We show the feasibility of our approach in a proof-of-concept prototype implementation.

Network virtualization (NV) is emerged as a key enabler for the success of the future virtualized networks (e.g. 5G networks and smart Internet of things (IoT)). Virtual Network Embedding (VNE) that addresses the embedding problems of heterogeneous virtual networks (VNs) onto a physical infrastructure is a main challenge in NV. Network topology attributes and network resource-considered (NTANRC) algorithm is a virtual node mapping mechanism that considers essential network features and global network resources for ranking both substrate and virtual nodes prior to embedding each given virtual network request (VNR). In this paper, we propose NTANRC combined with a distributed parallel Genetic Algorithm (GA) for virtual link mapping, namely NTANRC-GA, to solve online VNE problem. Extensive evaluation results show that our proposed solution not only achieves better performance compared to state-of-the-art VNE algorithms, but also challenges the rapid speed of shortest path (SP) method. NTANRC algorithm and the parallel GA-based algorithm are reverse compliments of each other to achieve an efficient VNE solution.

E-government also known as G-Cloud is the kind of cloud system, which provides user interface to the Government systems for its citizens. the influx of innovation had also brought up many disruptions to many businesses in the industry. Organizations have been involved in the research to overcome such challenges and aims to extend adoption and technology fit with better clarity while overcoming the disruptions that have been faced by its citizens from the government departments and why it's necessary for adopting this technology innovation by their particular organization. this study based on technology acceptance model 3 and task-technology fit model.

this paper proposes an optimization model for virtualized network graph design and embedding (VNDE), which is applied for a scenario in which a single entity fulfills both roles of a service provider and an infrastructure provider. the VNDE model determines the number of virtual routers (VRs) and a virtual network (VN) graph for each VN request in conjunction with the VN embedding. Numerical results show that the proposed model designs VN graphs and embeds them into the substrate infrastructure according to the volume of traffic demands and access path cost.

On the road towards 5G, a proliferation of Heterogeneous Networks (HetNets) is expected. Long Term Evolution (LTE) and Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) cooperation is needed in order to ensure a balanced traffic load based on different criteria so that the end user will benefit from the maximum throughput with no disturbance or deterioration in the service quality. thus, alternative plans for exploiting already existing under-utilized WiFi infrastructure become more attractive than expanding the LTE spectrum or increasing the capacity by deployment of additional LTE Base Stations (BSs). To find a more effective spectrum utilization method, alleviate the spectrum scarcity problem of cellular networks and ensure additional capacity, we propose in this paper a solution to calculate the minimum needed number of WiFi Access Points (APs) that will be able to handle the transferred heavy users from LTE advanced (LTE-A) to WiFi. the dimensioning method that we propose in this paper is based on the remaining available capacity of WiFi channels taking into consideration the overlapping characteristics of the physical channels to estimate the percentage of busy time or occupation of the AP channels. Based on this approach, we can investigate first the remaining available capacity in terms of available throughput of WiFi that could be distributed over the transferred LTE users, then the minimum required number of WiFi APs that will be supporting the LTE network for efficient traffic offloading. © 2019 IEEE.

Crowdsourced repositories have become an increasingly important source of information for users and businesses in multiple domains. Everyday examples of tourism crowdsourcing platforms focusing on accommodation, food or travelling in general, influence consumer behaviour in modern societies. these repositories, due to their intrinsic openness, can strongly benefit from independent data quality modelling mechanisms. In this context, building trust & reputation models of contributors and storing crowdsourced data using distributed ledger technology allows not only to ascertain the quality of crowdsourced contributions, but also ensures the integrity of the built models. this paper presents a survey on distributed trust & reputation modelling using blockchain technology and, for the specific case of tourism crowdsourcing platforms, discusses the open research problems and identifies future lines of research. 2019 the Authors. the paper presents an open and international online training course for design, manufacture and validation of custom-made orthopaedic, oral and cranio-maxillofacial devices. Based on the initial international survey, the innovative approach of this course presents all main steps of designing and production process of custom-made devices including medical imaging, surgical planning, product designing, mechanical and functional simulations, material selection and manufacturing process with particular emphasis on quality assurance systems, standards and regulations. Proposed on-line course offers the wide audience of medical device designers a worthy education and training, along their professional career. this approach of transferring knowledge between students - academic tutor, can be also successfully used to improve practical skills of professionals in a form of case studies.

the Grey Infrastructure is a result of engineering design in the Anthropocene. Globalized culture created systems destroying our relationship with Nature. Trade off sustainability is not enough for ecological crisis solutions, even if the invisible infrastructure of Industry 4.0 will replace Grey Infrastructure of old industry. Autistic Metaverse pushes humankind to digital words offering fake nature conversions - hypernature. IT landscapes are influential for human behaviors - different for demographic groups. Industry 4.0 becomes the Next Nature, attractive for the youngest generations - digital natives infected with the Nature-deficit Disorder. To evolve Sustainable Infrastructure by design "Human-Nature" systems reintegration and transformation from pathogenic to salutogenic are needed. Intelligent Green-Blue Infrastructure will enlarge bio-productive lands, to sustain biodiversity, to inforce regenerative abilities of coexisting ecosystems. the transgression from Industry 4.0 to Nature 4.0 is a long-term evolution focused on members of Society 5.0 vitality and regenerative ability.
