Clouds have gained popularity over the years as they provide on-demand resources without associated long-term costs. Cloud users often gain superuser access to cloud machines, which is necessary to customize them to user needs. But superuser access to a vast amount of resources, without support or oversight of experienced system administrators, can create fertile ground for accidental or intentional misuse. Attackers can rent cloud machines or hijack them from cloud users, and leverage them to generate unwanted traffic, such as spam and phishing, denial of service, vulnerability scans, drive-by downloads, etc. In this paper, we analyze 13 datasets, containing various types of unwanted traffic, to quantify cloud misbehavior and identify clouds that most often and most aggressively generate unwanted traffic. We find that although clouds own only 5.4% of the routable IPv4 address space (with 94.6% going to non-clouds), they often generate similar amounts of scans as non-clouds, and contribute to 22-96% of entries on blocklists. Among /24 prefixes that send vulnerability scans, a cloud's /24 prefix is 20-100 times more aggressive than a non-cloud's. Among /24 prefixes whose addresses appear on blocklists, a cloud's /24 prefix is almost twice as likely to have its address listed, compared to a non-cloud's /24 prefix. Misbehavior is heavy-tailed among both clouds and non-clouds. there are 25 clouds that contribute 90% of all the cloud scans, and 10 clouds contribute more than 20% of blocklist entries from clouds.

the deep security of DCS(distributed Control System) is more serious than conventional hardware problems for ship’s nuclear power system. It is great significance to study the DCS deep security for operation security of ship’s nuclear power system. the main characteristics of DCS deep security are obtained by comparing and analyzing the ship’s nuclear power with the conventional control and information system. the DCS deep security protection system is constructed, and an improved DEMIAL method is used to analyze center degree and cause degree of the system elements. the improved scale model is proposed to construct direct relationship matrix based on Weber-Fechner law. Weights are used to synthesize multiple decision-making opinions. the main concerns of deep security protection and the system elements with large influence are analyzed. the results of the DCS deep security factors model, the protection system and the protection system elements of ship’s nuclear power system, can provide valuable support for the follow-up research on the deep security technology and system of ship’s nuclear power system. © 2019 Association for computing Machinery.

Increasing the number of computational cores is a primary way of achieving high performance of contemporary supercomputers. However, developing parallel applications capable to harness the enormous amount of cores is a challenging task. thus, studying the scalability of parallel algorithms (the growth order of the number of processors required to accommodate the growing amount of work, below we give a clear definition of the scalability investigated in our paper) is very important. In this paper we propose a parallel tree search algorithm aimed at distributed parallel computers. For this parallel algorithm, we perform a theoretical analysis of its scalability and show that the achieved scalability is close to the theoretical maximum. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

Access control is a critical security service in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). To prevent malicious nodes or unauthorized entity from joining the sensor network, access control is required. It restricts the network access only to eligible sensor nodes, while queries from outsiders will not be answered or forwarded by nodes. Since sensor nodes are highly constrained in terms of resources and can be deployed in hostile environment, they may be lost because of power exhaustion or malicious attacks. therefore, new node deployment is necessary. Schemes based on elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) are proposed. Some of them are static and other dynamic because all the old secret keys and broadcasting information in existing nodes should not be updated once a new node is added. In this paper we proposed a new node access control scheme based on symmetric key cryptography, one-way hash chain and XOR operation, which are low expenses in calculation, storage and communication. the proposed solution provides a distributed authentication system, it is also resistance to node capture, query replay, denial of service (DoS) attacks and probably restricts the propagation of fake queries to a logarithmic part of the network. © 2019 Association for computing Machinery.

With the introduction of fundamental concept computational thinking, Block-based programming tools are turning into more and more common in primary, middle and high school level introductory classes. Block-based programming languages support users to drag and drop different jigsaw shaped blocks and snapping together to form a program. the point of interest is on the programming logic rather than its syntax. In this paper, we present DB-Learn, a browser-based and visual programming environment. this facilitates to learn the concepts of relational algebra concepts. Relational algebra is one of the important concepts to learn and understand the operations of database management systems.

In this paper, we exploit the Fog computing features and the caching capabilities to improve low-latency and throughput transmission for SG Internet of things (IoT) Devices. We set in a challenge on the radio capabilities of the Small Cell Networks (SCNs), to provide radio transmission rate, and the fog computing, to manage distributed networking, computing and storage resources. the IoT devices, as a content requester will take advantage of emerging caching techniques to accomplish the on-demand low-latency services that require a large amount of computing resources and a high throughput. To overcome the increasing number of IoT devices and the limited computing resources in fog computing to allocate devices, we propose a many-to-one matching game between the sets of devices and the set of fogs. To solve this game, we exploit the deferred acceptance algorithm that enables the players to self-organize into a stable matching and a reasonable number of algorithm iterations. the goal of the proposed game theory approach is to optimize the fog computing resources to satisfy the increasing IoT devices requests. Simulation results has demonstrated that our proposed matching strategy coupled to caching capabilities on distributed fog computing significantly outperforms the traditional caching strategies in terms of the cache hit ratio, average latency and back-haul traffic load.

Fog computing is an emerging paradigm that distributes computing and networking services closer to where user data is generated. the Fog presents a new architecture that "takes processing to the data". the fog will resolve in the Internet of things such as bandwidth and cost constraints and performing data fusion, etc. Considering the "distributed" property, this paper proposes to exploit the multi agent system technology for the development of the fog system. To demonstrate its feasibility, we adopt an open source platform for a multi agent system, VOLTTRON. then, four types of fog agents are developed that collaborate to conduct building energy management tasks in an autonomous manner. the agents can reduce the energy waste in a building by managing the brightness of lights, power status of the HVAC systems, and various energy loads. they also receive weather data and price data from Korea Meteorological Administration and Korea Power Exchange and present the data on the web. this helps user to recognize the information easier. © 2019, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Following the ecological parameters variation is important keeping in mind the end goal to decide on the nature of our environment. this paper aims at detecting and detailing the changes in the environmental parameters. Environmental monitoring applications based on cloud computing makes use of sensors to help in protecting environmental conditions by checking parameters like temperature, air quality, earthquake and so on. the utilization of present day advances such as the single-board computers can encourage and give much more functionalities to cloud. the significant areas that cover the above said applications are home, industries, buildings and so forth. this is the way toward observing some of the modules of environment and thus providing the features to the admins and clients. It causes the specialists to screen the states of the work in an organization or industry from remote areas and to take prompt measures.

One of the prime concern of modern computing world is to optimize energy consumption by an efficient scheduling algorithm. the scheduling process is an NP-complete problem and challenging to produce an optimal solution. In this paper, we have used a minimum-energy-maximum execution time based scheduling approach as a promising method to answer the problem. Our contribution is analyzed and evaluated by extensive experimental results on various synthetic data sets. through extensive simulation runs, the result shows that the proposed algorithm performs better than the existing algorithms like MinMin, MCT, and priority based performance improved algorithm (PPIA). A statistical hypothesis test ANOVA and followed by post-hoc analysis are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed work.
