WiMAX technology provides a Quality of service (QoS) system that allows system operators to configure a network to provide maximum performance compared to conventional Best Effort (BE) systems. In this paper, we address the increase in number of data rich mobile devices and the performance issues associated with Video On Demand (VOD) multimedia traffic over a WiMAX network. We present the results of application testing using WiMAX protocol where the main focus is to show how utilizing a QoS system can benefit streaming real time multimedia. the results show how WiMAX technology is beneficial to multimedia applications.

Crowd counting is a key problem for many computer vision tasks while most existing methods try to count people based on regression with hand-crafted features. Recently, the fast development of deep learning has resulted in many promising detectors of generic object classes. In this paper, to effective leverage the discriminability of convolutional neural networks, we propose a method to people counting based on Faster R-CNN[9] head-shoulder detection and correlation tracking. Firstly, we train a Faster R-CNN head-shoulder detector with Zeiler model to detect people with multiple poses and views. Next, we employ kernelized correlation filter(KCF)[7] to track the people and obtain the trajectory. Considering the results of the detection and tracking, we fuse the two bounding box to obtain a continuous and stable trajectory. Extensive experiments and comparison show the promise of the proposed approach.

Scene text detection is an important task in computer vision. Many previous work require multi-step processing and are not robust against challenges, such as small-scales and blurring. In this paper, we propose a Multi-level Feature extraction Network (MLFN), which can capture more detailed information and is easy to train. We embed MLFN into the middle of an end-to-end network and achieve a better accuracy and robustness. the experiment results on ICDAR 2011 and ICDAR 2013 further demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2018.

To keep the users’ multimedia data secure and private in the cloud, this paper designs and implements a secure multimedia storage system based on HDFS platform. the system provides different client software for windows and android to encrypt users’ data before outsourcing to the cloud. And only the data user owns the encryption key so that it will prevent sensitive information leakage from the cloud server or malicious attackers. this paper designs an experiment to show the validity and effectiveness of the system. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2018.

Cloud computing is collection of distributed hosts which allow services on demand to user. the service that provide to the user will include multimedia such as image/video retrieval. More number of users demands various multimedia computing resources and storage services through internet at same time in order to resolve this cloud based multimedia system emerged. the CMS will receives client's request for multimedia service task through resource manager and assign those task requests to different server clusters according to the characteristics of the requested tasks. In the existing system genetic algorithm is used for resource allocation where the videos get spitted and they are uploaded to server where the resource manager will retrieve the video files which has the drawbacks as it consumes more time and increase complexity. In the proposed system Fibonacci based splitting strategy used to split a video file into number of chunks that allows to reduce the delay, optimize the resource utilization and increases the performance by fast video download.

Emerging internet of things system utilizes heterogeneous proximity-based ubiquitous resources to provide various real-time multimedia services to mobile application users. In general, such a system relies on distant Cloud services to perform all the data processing tasks, which results in explicit latency. Consequently, Fog computing, which utilizes the proximal computational and networking resources, has arisen. However, utilizing Fog for real-time mobile applications faces the new challenge of ensuring the seamless accessibility of Fog services on the move. this paper proposes a framework for proactive Fog service discovery and process migration using Mobile Ad hoc Social Network in proximity. the proposed framework enables Fog-assisted ubiquitous multimedia service provisioning in proximity without distant Cloud services. A proof-of-concept prototype has been implemented and tested on real devices. Additionally, the proposed Fog service discovery and process migration algorithm have been tested on the ONE simulator.

We propose an analytical framework for service oriented computing in internet of thing scenarios to derive an optimal performance from an elastic extensible cloud that can serve a request from access, edge and core network. If the number of replicas at different levels (access networks, edge networks and core networks) are maintained according to the values derived from our analysis, then the drop rate and resource utilisation improves significantly without compromising the QoS constraints of the service requests. Under this design, the service consumers devices receive the services from the nearest level of replica(if any) at minimal level of cost which is the most rational form of expectation.

the concept of connectedness, as inspired by Social Networking service, is a key factor which participates in changing the way people interact with each other over the internet. On the other hand, connected world as envisioned by the internet of things aims to expand the idea of connectivity to include everything in the physical world to a big network called the internet. In order to realize the integration between the world of connected people and the world of connected devices, intelligence including semantics and recommendation acts as a key factor to expand the basic communication functionalities to include search, discovery, mashup of new services and filtering. We propose a framework to facilitate the next generation of communication between people and devices, and a preliminary prototype including three modules DPWSim, thingsGate, thingsChat along with a use case discussion.

For blind image deblurring problem, regularization term met-hod is effective and efficient. Many existing approaches usually rely on carefully designed regularization terms and handcrafted parameter tuning to obtain satisfactory solution. It is complex and difficult. In this paper, we proposed a novel learning-based blind deconvolution method. We learn a Multi-Scale Shrinkage Fields model (MSSF). At each scale, we obtain the nonlinear functions and parameters through the data-driven way. Our method achieved strong robustness against others. It was evaluated on several widely-used natural image deblurring benchmarks, and achieved competitive results. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2018.
