In the last few years, the use of Cloud and Internet of things (IoT) technologies is dramatically growing, opening new application possibilities spanning from smart cities to the prevention of natural disasters. A flexible integration of the Cloud and IoT environments allows users and applications to combine the benefits of the two worlds. Specifically, robustness, versatility and high computation power are better supported by the Cloud, while better real-time adaptation and local control are peculiar characteristics of the IoT infrastructure. Even higher flexibility can emerge when the cloud layer combines and integrates a public cloud component, offered by an external provider, and a private cloud, managed internally to the organization, thus giving rise to the so-called hybrid cloud. the integration of a hybrid cloud with an IoT layer opens a wide range of new possibilities and applications but also presents heterogeneity and complexity issues that must be carefully addressed. this paper offers a contribution in this field by presenting a novel threelayered IoT architecture for the Hybrid Cloud, namely IoT-HC, which is devoted to enabling distributed sensing and actuation, controlling IoT networks, elaborating the collected data both at edge and cloud level, and deciding which data has to be sent to private or public cloud components for storage and high-level elaboration.

the method of constructing a schedule for parallel algorithm execution is considered in the article. this algorithm takes into account the execution time of each operation of the algorithm and the relationship of operations on the data. the method is based on an information graph in which the nodes are the operations of the algorithm, and the edges are the directions of the data transfer. As a result of the interchange of operations between computing nodes, it is possible to achieve a reduction in the execution time of the algorithm by reducing the time spent on data transfer between computing nodes and reducing the downtime of computational nodes. the algorithm can be applied both in parallel programming and in adjacent areas, for example, when scheduling tasks in distributed systems.

the report presents an approach to solve hard problems of discrete and global optimization in distributed computing environment Everest - a web-based computing platform, http://***. the approach integrates: solvers implementing branch-and-bound (B&B) algorithm;preliminary decomposition of feasible domain and/or B&B multi-search (of the same problem with different settings of B&B algorithm);pool of solvers, which run in parallel and exchange with values of incumbents found by B&B. the report partially sums up results of research and programmatic implementation of coarse-grained (loosely coupled) parallelisation in the form of Everest application called DDBNB, https://***/distcomp/ddbnb. On solving hard geometric combinatorial problems (Tammes problem, thomson problem and Flat Torus Packing problem) finegrained parallel solver ParaSCIP (based on MPI) has been used also. In particular, computing proof of Flat Torus optimal packing for 9 circles has been obtained. Comparison of ParaSCIP and DDBNB performance leads to future plan to improve DDBNB by integration of coarse- and fine-grained parallelism. © 2018 Sergey A. Smirnov, Vladimir V. Voloshinov.

Battery energy storage system has become an important part of modern energy system with the growth of renewable energy and electric vehicle (EV). With the development of recent battery technologies, the improvement in overall battery charging efficiency and its cost, have become critical issues because, as the charger efficiency increases, the charging time and electricity cost decreases. Furthermore, power electronics based chargers can cause line current distortions and harmonic issues in the ac power system; and hence efficient and low-distortion smart chargers are needed to minimize power system disturbances. the aim of this paper is to study and analyze the conventional charging algorithms and the power converter topologies available in practice to design a fast, effective and efficient battery charger for EV/Microgrid/Energy storage applications. An LC parallel Resonant Converter (PRC) can offer an effective solution for designing a fast and reliable battery charger with simple control circuits and techniques. the distinct feature of the proposed topology is that, the converter can operate in open loop while maintaining a constant charging current and hence any of the fast charging algorithms can be easily implemented without any complex controller and sensors.

Cloud computing became a routine tool for scientists in many domains. In order to speed up achievement of scientific results a cloud service for execution of distributed applications was developed. It obviates users from creating and configuring virtual cluster environment manually or using batch scheduler and allows them only to specify input parameters to perform their computations. One of the key parameters that this service aims to help users with is virtual cluster configuration. For most applications it is difficult to tell the optimal number of cluster nodes, amounts of their threads per node and memory so that application would have minimal execution time. In this work an approach to optimization of cluster configuration is proposed and software system for launching HPC application in a cloud is presented. © 2018 Ruslan I. Kuchumov, Vladimir V. HybriLIT heterogeneous platform that is a component of the Multifunctional Information and computing Complex (MICC) of Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. HybriLIT includes GOVORUN supercomputer and education and testing polygon;its platform is based on the latest computation architectures (processors;co-processors;graphical accelerators), and also modern software such as Intel Cluster Studio, CUDA, MATLAB, etc;thus, allowing to carry out extra-massive computations and reach sufficient acceleration, and also to provide training courses on parallel programming technologies and work on HPC-platforms for students, PhD students and young scientists [1]. In order to increase the efficiency of work on the heterogeneous platform HybriLIT, there appears a need to develop an information-computing environment for work with parallel programming technologies that provides users with possibility to use the resources of the supercomputer for carrying out resource-intensive and massive parallel tasks, use the applied software packages adapted for hybrid architectures, and also develop and debug applications using modern IT solutions and frameworks such as machine learning approaches for accelerating experimental data analysis. BlockChain (BC) technology is the digital currency-the underlying technology of Bitcoin, which has attracted more and more attention in recent years. BC is a distributed database system with decentralized and unfalsified features that make it be expected to lead a new revolution in the technology industry. the prominent feature of BC makes it break away from currency applications and gradually enter into non-monetary applications. the distributed and anti-attack characteristics of BC technology can be well integrated into Internet of things (IoT). the existing technical features of BC enable it to realize distributed privacy and security in IoT. this paper introduces the main problems in the development of IoT and the characteristics of BC in the application of IoT. We also discusses the main direction of BC in the application of IoT. But BC can't be applied directly to IoT, and the fusion of two technologies will face many challenges. Based on these, this paper analyzes the challenges of BC in the application of IoT.

Porting applications to GPU-based heterogeneous systems is far from a trivial task. those systems offer exceptional performance potential, but require specific knowledge to utilize correctly. the basic tools do not offer the level of abstraction to make GPU easy to use for a non-specialist. Many external tools aimed to correct that problem. In this paper we categorize them in broad terms, compare them to the use of the base GPGPU technologies, and discuss their future potential. © 2018 Alexander Bogdanov, Nikita Storublevtcev, Vladimir Mareev.
