In this paper a software package for processing and visualization of the molecular dynamics simulation is presented. During the development process the performance issues of the Python programming language were studied, as well as the abilities to avoid them. It was also studied the problem of obtaining and processing distributed data stored on multiple computational nodes. An open-source package for scientific visualization Mayavi2 was chosen as a visualization tool. As a result of application this system to the data obtained from MD simulation of the gas and metal plate interaction we were able to observe in the details the effect of adsorption, which is important for many practical applications.

the efficient provisioning of complex applications is one of the most challenging issues in Cloud computing. therefore, various provisioning and configuration management technologies have been developed that can be categorized as follows: imperative approaches enable a precise specification of the low-level tasks to be executed whereas declarative approaches focus on describing the desired goals and constraints. Since complex applications employ a plethora of heterogeneous components that must be wired and configured, typically multiple of these technologies have to be integrated to automate the entire provisioning process. In a former work, we presented a workflow modelling concept that enables the seamless integration of imperative and declarative technologies. this paper is an extension of that work to integrate the modelling concept withthe Cloud standard TOSCA. In particular, we show how Hybrid Provisioning Plans can be created that retrieve all required information about the desired provisioning directly from the corresponding TOSCA model. We validate the practical feasibility of the concept by extending the OpenTOSCA runtime environment and the workflow language BPEL.

Computational Intelligence methods are widely used in a diverse range of scientific and industrial applications, including economic modeling, finance, networks and transportation, database design, design and control, scheduling and others. On the other hand, Collective Intelligence methods aim at harvesting the power of people's mobile devices for gathering and sending useful information about the values and the variations of environmental variables in a target area or the macroscopic behavior of a target population. In this paper we propose a computation paradigm, which combines computational, collective intelligence and privacy respecting techniques, towards the creation of a flexible, low-cost, secure, massively parallel virtual computing platform based on people's own devices. Examples of how such an infrastructure can be the platform of the deployment of innovative, computationally demanding, applications and services that demand peer-to-peer connections and users' device collaboration are presented. the privacy respecting techniques enhance people's trust in providing their data through their personal devices.

Master node fault-tolerance is the topic that is often dimmed in the discussion of big data processing technologies. Although failure of a master node can take down the whole data processing pipeline, this is considered either improbable or too difficult to encounter. the aim of the studies reported here is to propose rather simple technique to deal with master-node failures. this technique is based on temporary delegation of master role to one of the slave nodes and transferring updated state back to the master when one step of computation is complete. that way the state is duplicated and computation can proceed to the next step regardless of a failure of a delegate or the master (but not both). We run benchmarks to show that a failure of a master is almost "invisible" to other nodes, and failure of a delegate results in recomputation of only one step of data processing pipeline. We believe that the technique can be used not only in Big Data processing but in other types of applications.

the mountain bike is one of the most used equipment's in outdoor sports activities. the present work presents a distributed sensing system expressed by a WSN for cycling assessment to increase performance of athletes involved in this probes. the implemented system performs acquisition, processing and data communication based on ZigBee protocol that also provides the machine-to-machine communication and data storage in a cloud platform. the information stored on the cloud server can be accessed through a mobile application that analyses and correlates all metrics calculated using the training data obtained during training session. the system permits to record the athletes training data and to access it in order to improve their performances during the next competitions based on data analysis. the recorded data of the evolution of each athlete permits to perform appropriate comparisons between different training sessions and different athletes results.

this paper discusses a possible approach to distributed visualization and rendering system infrastructure organization, based on Linux environment withthe usage of virtualization technologies. Particular attention is paid to the minutiae, which may be encountered due to the environment setup and exploitation processes, and may affect system performance and usability. Some applications and development tools are studied, as they can provide a rapid onset of computing resources exploration.
