Model-Driven Security is a specialization of Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) that focuses on making security models productive, i.e., enforceable in the final deployment. Among the variety of models that have been studied in a MDE perspective, one can mention access control models that specify the access rights. So far, these models mainly focus on static definitions of access control policies, without taking into account the more complex, but essential, delegation of rights mechanism. User delegation is a meta-level mechanism for administrating access rights, which allows a user without any specific administrative privileges to delegate his/her access rights to another user. this paper analyses the main hard-points for introducing various delegation semantics in model-driven security and proposes a model-driven framework for 1) specifying access control, delegation and the business logic as separate concerns;2) dynamically enforcing/ weaving access control policies with various delegation features into security-critical systems;and 3) providing a flexibly dynamic adaptation strategy. We demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of our proposed solution through the proof-of-concept implementations of different systems. Copyright © 2013 ACM.

Developing extensions to general-purpose langauges or domainspecific languages with support for new kinds of abstractions is an ongoing trend. Modern language workbenches, such as EMFText of Xtext, support this trend and facilitate implementing langauges in terms of transformations from the new language into an established (intermediate) language. Often, however, the implementation of one element in the source language becomes scattered and tangled in the target language, which makes transformations complex. Furthermore, even though many languages share core concepts, current approaches do not support sharing transformations that implement their semantics;the only possibility of re-using transformations from a language is to extend it syntactically. We have identified dispatching as fundamental to most abstraction mechanisms. With the ALIA4J approach, we provide a meta-model of dispatching to act as rich and extensible intermediate language that allows more direct transformation. the semantics of core language concepts can be modularly implemented as extension of the meta-model. For the execution of the intermediate language, we provide both platform-independent and platform-dependent Java Virtual Machine extensions, the latter of which even allows the modular implementation of machine code optimizations. In this demo, participants get an overview of advanced dispatching and the ALIA4J approach. By the example of a language for text-based adventure games, they will see the usage of ALIA4J as back-end for a language developed in EMFText. Finally, the implementation of new atomic language concepts and their optimization is demonstrated. Copyright © 2013 ACM.

this paper emphasize on a new framework to access the aspect oriented software's (AOS) using software metrics. software metrics for the qualitative and quantitative assessment is the combination of static and dynamic metrics for software's. It is found from the literature survey that till date most the framework only considered the static metrics based assessment for aspect oriented software's. In our work we have mainly considered the set of static metrics along with dynamic software metrics specific to aspectJ. this framework may provide a new research direction while predicting the software attributes because earlier dynamic metrics were neglected while evaluating the quality attributes like maintainability, reliability, understandability for AO software's. Based on basic fundamentals of software engineering dynamic metrics are equally important as well as static metrics for software analysis. A similar concept is borrowed to apply on aspect oriented software development by adding dynamic software metrics. Presently we have only proposed a framework and model using the static and dynamic metrics for the assessment of aspect oriented system but still the proposed approach need to be validated.

this paper presents MView, a technique that enables the separation of various architect views on an architectural connector in distributed software systems. A distributed system faces a lot of variability in the functions that it needs to support, and the deployment environments in which it needs to execute. Modularity of functionality and composition is essential in achieving this variability. While state-of-the-art AO-ADLs focus on describing compositions using aspect-based connectors, there is no support for describing a connector across multiple architecture views. this is, however, essential for distributed systems, where run-time and distribution characteristics are represented in multiple views. this results in connectors that suffer from monolithic descriptions, in which the views of different architects are tangled. MView untangles these architect views by defining them in separate modules and specifying refinement relations between these modules. We have integrated MView in an ADL, called MView ADL, which is supported by an Eclipse-plugin that performs code generation to the JBoss and Spring middleware platforms. We evaluate MView in a content distribution system for e-Media. First is an assessment of the architect effort required for creating variations of that system, followed by an evaluation of the extent to which changes ripple through the architecture. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

aspect oriented Modeling (AOM) aims to provide enhanced separation of concerns during the design phase and proclaims many benefits (e.g., easier model evolution, reduced modeling effort, and reduced modeling errors) over traditional modeling paradigms such as object-oriented modeling. However, empirical evaluations of these benefits is severely lacking in the AOM community. In this paper, we empirically evaluate one of the AOM profiles: aspectSM, via a controlled experiment to assess if it can help in reducing modeling errors (referred as conformance errors in this paper), which is one of the benefits offered by AOM. aspectSM is a UML profile, which is developed to support automated state-based robustness testing. With aspectSM, crosscutting behaviors are modeled as aspect state machines using the stereotypes defined in aspectSM. We evaluate the conformance error rates of applying aspectSM from various perspectives by conducting four activities: 1) identifying modeling defects, 2) comprehending state machines, 3) modeling state machines, and 4) weaving aspect state machines into base state machines. For most of these activities, experimental results show that the error rates while performing these four activities using aspectSM are significantly lower than standard UML state machine modeling approaches. © 2012 ACM.

Adaptability in software is the main fascinating concern for which today's software architects are really interested in providing the autonomic computing. Different programming paradigms have been introduced for enhancing the dynamic behavior of the programs. Few among them are the aspect oriented programming (AOP) and Feature oriented programming (FOP) with both of them having the ability to modularize the crosscutting concerns, where the former is dependent on aspects, advice and lateral one on the collaboration design and refinements. In this paper we will propose a design pattern for Autonomic Computing System which is designed with aspect-oriented design patterns. we'll also study about the amalgamation of the Feature-oriented and aspect-oriented software development methodology and its usage in developing a self-reconfigurable adaptive system. In this paper we used the design patterns which will satisfy the properties of an autonomic system: For monitoring we used the Observer design pattern, Decision making we used Adaptation Detector design pattern, and for Reconfiguration we used Feature-oriented aspect insertion using participant pattern. the main objective of the system is to provide self-reconfiguring behavior at run-time by inserting into the current existing code with an aspectual feature module code without interrupting the user and to provide transparency while accessing the system. the pattern is described using a java-like notation for the classes and interfaces. A simple UML class and Sequence diagrams are depicted.
