This paper presents an impact-induced frequency up-conversion piezoelectric energy harvester (FUC-PEH) to improve low-frequency output performance. The FUC-PEH includes a high-frequency piezoelectric cantilever (HFPC) with resonant frequency of 210 Hz and a low-frequency S-shaped stainless-steel cantilever (LFSC) with resonant frequency of 30 Hz. The HFPC is manufactured using MEMS metal-substrate lead zirconate titanate (PZT) thick film technology. The peak open-circuit voltage of FUC-PEH reaches 54.6 V over a drive frequency range of 10 to 60 Hz, which is $80 \%$ higher than that of a single HFPC in resonant state. It is expected to replace primary batteries and used as the power source for wireless sensor nodes. In addition, the low-frequency I-shaped stainless-steel cantilever (LFC-I), ii-shaped cantilever (LFC-ii) and iiI-shaped cantilever (LFC-iiI) are fabricated to explore the influence of the stiffness of low-frequency cantilever, the size of proof mass and the gap distance on the output performance of FUC-PEH.

The rapid evolution of urban surveillance systems has created an urgent need for advanced anomaly detection methods capable of interpreting complex public environments. This study employs the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodology to evaluate deep learning's (DL) role in video-based anomaly detection. It contrasts conventional approaches with cutting-edge architectures like spatiotemporal convolutional neural networks (CNNs), generative adversarial networks (GANs), and transformer-based models. Our analysis demonstrates DL's superior performance over traditional methods across multiple benchmarks while revealing significant implementation challenges in real-world deployment, including computational complexity, cross-domain generalization, and ethical constraints. The study provides a comprehensive taxonomy of anomaly types, examines key evaluation metrics for operational systems, and identifies emerging solutions like edge-compatible lightweight models and privacy-preserving federated learning. By synthesizing a decade of research progress and practical limitations, this work offers actionable insights for developing robust, efficient, and socially responsible surveillance systems. The study proposes future directions focused on self-supervised learning, multimodal sensor fusion, and explainable AI frameworks to address critical gaps in urban security applications.

This paper proposes a pipeline for the automation of data between two realms: i) simulation, in a fully nonlinear, and time-dependent structural analysis model and, ii)concrete maturity monitoring data from the construction site. The connection enables an information construct understood for its use within the Digital Twin of the building during construction phases. The pipeline requires a comprehensive coordination between stakeholders at both the site (Construction) and the structural control office, which is challenging. The pipeline consists of a) temperature sensors, b) a mobile app connected to the sensor via Bluetooth with basic instructions for datagatherers, c) integration and interoperability of BIM, and, d) an advanced Finite Element (FE) model. By measuring the concrete temperature during many days, realistic concrete mechanical properties are inferred and infused into the FE models using adequate calibration. Two applications for the improvement of construction activities are identified. Formwork striking and tendons stressing. The paper describes the testbed of all the connections, for the construction of an in-situ casted concrete building in Barcelona, Spain. © 2022 International Association on Automation and Robotics in Construction.

Geometric pattern formation is an important emergent behavior in many applications involving large-scale multi-agent systems, such as sensor networks deployment and collective transportation. Attraction/repulsion virtual forces are the most common control approach to achieve such behavior in a distributed and scalable manner. Nevertheless, for most existing solutions only numerical and/or experimental evidence of their convergence is available. Here, we revisit the problem of achieving pattern formation giving sufficient conditions to prove analytically that under the influence of appropriate virtual forces, a large-scale multi-agent swarming system locally converges towards a stable and robust triangular lattice configuration. Specifically, the proof is carried out using LaSalle’s invariance principle and geometry-based arguments. A systematic literature review is presented to understand and analyze the state of the art in Blockchain-based solutions applied to the carbon trading context. The main contributions of the work are twofold: i) updated literature review, emphasizing the contributions of each selected work; ii) classification of the papers based on their main contributions and application domains as well as summarizing and discussing challenges and open research issues. Our results reveal the need for research focusing on understanding the use of advanced technology in complex scenarios of trade and management of carbon credits. This work is intended for researchers who aim to develop methods and techniques that make use of Blockchain technology in the realm of carbon trading.

An effective sensor system for monitoring the pressure distribution on a car seat would enable researches on advanced Driver Assistance systems (ADAS) and comfort of occupants. However, the irregularities of the seat shape or those of the occupant clothes challenge the robustness of such a sensor system. Moreover, the position identification of bodies of different percentiles by few pressure sensors is difficult. So, a higher resolution pressure pad has been developed. The number of sensors is significantly increased by means of a matrix scan strategy. Tests on the pressure pad with different occupants proves its robustness in scanning the contact area.

This paper is organized as follows: Section ii provides a background on our research work based on DSA in CRNs using CR under different fading conditions. c) Performance: We also study how effective adaptive algorithms along with the machine learning can prove in achieving higher spectrum sensing accuracy and decision making on run time. By conducting simulations and extensive performance evaluation, we show that the traditional solutions fall short when compared to our AI-based methodology in terms of accuracy especially under harsh fading conditions. Finally, sensitivity analysis highlights the control parameters that need to be submitted to further optimization for better system performance. With all above analysis, our results indicate that DSA can alleviate spectrum underutilization problem and enhance communication reliability in CRNs. Thus, with proper adaptation strategies and machine learning algorithms, the DSA systems provide an appealing opportunity to meet the continuously increasing requirements of bandwidth-consuming applications in current days wireless networks. The results of this research are helpful in providing effective value input to Advances in the understanding and design of robust, efficient spectrum management approaches for dynamic and diverse wireless settings.

Based on light-emitting diode (LED) lighting and recent advances in visible light communication (VLC), we propose a new visible light-based localization scheme that uses a grid color-coding principle to develop a highly accurate localization system. By measuring the light received through the projected area on the color-coded film (for light filtering) and comparing it with a predefined color code, the system can determine the 2-dimensional position of the receiver relative to an LED, i.e., the reference point (RP). It is worth noting that the proposed solution has the following attractive features and differs from existing systems: (i) it uses only one photodiode (PD) on the user device for localization, and (ii) it can provide highly accurate indoor localization with centimeter resolution. Interesting applications include localization for unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), advanced warehousing and logistics. Since PD or light sensor can have a response time of about 25 ms or even faster, one can also expect low latency in localization, which is especially suitable for supporting mobile users and new location-based services. Simulation results have shown that an average positioning error of less than 10 centimeters is achievable under suitable conditions.

Pristine and cerium-doped ZnO (ZnO:Ce) thin films were fabricated on Si (100) substrates using the pulsed laser deposition (PLD) method. XRD analysis confirmed the incorporation of Ce ions into the ZnO crystal structure, with additional peaks observed in the ZnO:Ce films. Photoluminescence results revealed a slight redshift in annealed ZnO and ZnO:Ce (5 wt.%) thin films, consistent with Energy-Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS) findings of Ce incorporation. Current-voltage (I-V) analysis demonstrated that ZnO:Ce device exhibited the highest photocurrent-to-dark current ratio (I ph /I dark ) at a bias of 2 V, surpassing the performance of pristine ZnO devices. These results highlight the potential of Ce doping to enhance the performance of ZnO devices for photodetector and light sensor applications.

Hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), as a biologically significant gaseous signaling molecule and environmental pollutant, has garnered extensive attention due to its crucial roles in various physiological processes and environmental systems. Photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensing has emerged as a promising analytical strategy for H₂S detection owing to its high sensitivity, excellent selectivity, and minimal background interference, achieved through effectively coupling specific analyte recognition events with photoinduced electrochemical signals. This review systematically summarizes recent advances in PEC sensing technologies for H₂S detection, categorized into three main strategies: (i) PEC sensors based on the intrinsic hole-scavenging capability of H₂S;(ii) PEC platforms constructed via the in situ generation of metal sulfides (such as CdS, Bi₂S₃, Ag₂S, and Cu_xS);and (iii) PEC sensors incorporating small organic molecular probes specifically responsive to H₂S. Detailed discussions include detection principles, sensor configurations, material components, and analytical performance of various PEC sensing systems. Finally, perspectives are provided regarding future opportunities and challenges, including the exploration of novel metal sulfide semiconductors, development of advanced single-atom catalysts for precise recognition of H₂S, and further optimization of multifunctional organic PEC probes to extend practical applications in environmental monitoring, biomedical diagnostics, and food safety analyses. © 2025 The Authors
