Due to the defects of opticalsystems, image sensors, and imperfect algorithms for image acquisition, compression, and restoration, color artifacts often appear in images obtained by imaging devices such as digital cameras and scanners. Moreover, color artifacts are difficult to eliminate because of technical limitations, even in some mature commercial cameras. On the basis of red, green, and blue (RGB) intersection (RGBI), a correction method for color artifacts is proposed in this paper, where the RGB intersection-based method can effectively detect various types of color artifacts. Also, by combining the object information with weighted bilinear interpolation, the continuity of the image is kept while restoring the real color. Experiments demonstrate that the RGBI method, which is applicable to all color images, can eliminate various types of color artifacts with accurate detection and less artifact residue, even if the image has severe color distortion or the areas of the color artifacts are small and discrete. Various ocular diseases, such as cataract, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma have affected a large proportion of the population worldwide. In ophthalmology, fundus photography is used for the diagnosis of such retinal disorders. Nowadays, the set-up of fundus image acquisition has changed from a fixed position to portable devices, making acquisition more vulnerable to distortions. However, a trustworthy diagnosis solely relies upon the quality of the fundus image. In recent years, fundus image quality assessment (IQA) has drawn much attention from researchers. This study presents a detailed survey of the fundus IQA research. The survey covers a comprehensive discussion on the factors affecting the fundus image quality and the real-time distortions. The fundus IQA algorithms have been analysed on the basis of the methodologies used and divided into three classes, namely: (i) similarity-based, (ii) segmentation-based, and (iii) machine learning based. In addition, limitations of state of the art in this research field are also presented with the possible solutions. The objective of this study is to provide a detailed information about the fundus IQA research with its significance, present status, limitations, and future scope. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first survey paper on the fundus IQA research.

The main purpose of the work described in this paper concerns the development of a platform dedicated to sea surveillance, capable of detecting and identifying illegal maritime traffic. This platform results from the cascade implementation of several image processingalgorithms that take as input Radar or optical maps captured by satelliteborne sensors. More in detail, the processing chain is dedicated to (i) the detection of vessel targets in the input map, (ii) the refined estimation of the vessel most descriptive geometrical features and, finally, (iii) the estimation of the kinematic status of the vessel. This platform will represent a new tool for combating unauthorized fishing, irregular migration and related smuggling activities.

The ever-increasing need for the large-scale implementation of unmanned vehicles requires situational awareness of such vehicles. In this case two general directions are possible. The first: simplification and fixing situations with vehicles movements. The second: improving the onboard control system and its information component. We focus on the second direction in our study. information support of vehicles, especially systems of technical vision, requires ever-increasing computing resources and intelligent technologies in algorithmic support. The experience of our research shows that reconfigurable high-performance heterogeneous resources are the effective software and hardware tool for information support of autonomous vehicles Such devices combine sequentially parallel processing of visual data. In the process of developing such resources, we use a heterogeneous computer network based on the PCI express bus. The report describes the general scheme of such a network, considers hardware and software configurations for solving application task, gives the results of experiments to solve the issues of collecting and processing visual data, and discusses the prospects for the development of this approach.

We theoretically introduce and experimentally demonstrate the realization of a nonclassicality test that allows for arbitrarily low detection efficiency without invoking an extra assumption of independence of the devices. Our test and its implementation is set in a prepare-and-measure scenario with an upper limit on the classical communication capacity of the channel through which the systems are communicated. The essence for our test is the use of two preparation and two measurement devices, which are randomly paired in each round. Our work opens the possibility for experimental realizations of nonclassicality tests with off-the-shelf technology.
