With the rapid development of high-precision and high-speed ADC devices, traditional analog processing methods for nuclear pulse signals have gradually exited the historical stage. Digitizing nuclear pulse signals has become the main research direction in multi-channel nuclear energy spectrum measurement systems. The trapezoidal shaping filtering algorithm, as the most used nuclear pulse shaping algorithm, has a certain noise suppression capability. This paper studies the double-exponential trapezoidal shaping filtering method based on FPGA in practical applications and explores its role in further eliminating pile-up effects under high counting rates. © 2024 SPIE.

Nonlinear multimode photonics: nonlinear optics with many degrees of freedom

The overall goal of photonics research is to understand and control light in new and richer ways to facilitate new and richer applications. Many major developments to this end have relied on nonlinear optical techniques, such as lasing, mode-locking, and parametric downconversion, to enable applications based on the interactions of coherent light with matter. These processes often involve nonlinear interactions between photonic and material degrees of freedom spanning multiple spatiotemporal scales. While great progress has been made with relatively simple optimizations, such as maximizing single-mode coherence or peak intensity alone, the ultimate achievement of coherent light engineering is complete, multidimensional control of light-light and light-matter interactions through tailored construction of complex optical fields and systems that exploit all of light's degrees of freedom. This capability is now within sight, due to advances in telecommunications, computing, algorithms, and modeling. Control of highly multimode optical fields and processes also facilitates quantitative and qualitative advances in optical imaging, sensing, communication, and information processing since these applications directly depend on our ability to detect, encode, and manipulate information in as many optical degrees of freedom as possible. Today, these applications are increasingly being enhanced or enabled by both multimode engineering and nonlinearity. Here, we provide a brief overview of multimode nonlinear photonics, focusing primarily on spatiotemporal nonlinear wave propagation and, in particular, on promising future directions and routes to applications. We conclude with an overview of emerging processes and methodologies that will enable complex, coherent nonlinear photonic devices with many degrees of freedom. (C) 2022 Optica Publishing Group

With the rapid development of aviation electromechanical technology, new aircraft are equipped with a large number of sensors and electronic control devices. In order to meet the data transmission requirements of avionics systems, Ethernet Data Distribution (DDS) protocol has gradually become the standard solution for published/subscribed data in distributed real-time systems. Facing the new requirements of bus data processing using DDS protocol, starting from the characteristics and format of Ethernet DDS data recording, this paper gives the overall architecture and core processing method of the processing software. This paper analyzes the key problems of Ethernet DDS data processing, and proposes solutions for DDS bus interface control document (ICD) plane structure, multi-level parallel data processing algorithm, data detection and filtering. The method is validated and can correctly process Ethernet DDS data. © 2023 SPIE.

Active nanophotonic devices play an important role in optical communication systems. Improving modulation efficiency and reducing the footprint of these devices are crucial for low energy information processing and on chip communication. The Multi Frequency-Domain Finite Difference (MF-FDFD) algorithm was invented to address the inherent the large difference in scale between the modulation frequency and the frequency of optical waves of active nanophotonic devices. However, due to the fact that the MF-FDFD algorithm itself requires solving a large number of unknowns compared to traditional FDFD algorithms, the current MF-FDFD algorithm still stays in two-dimensional and is difficult to calculate in three-dimensional. To solve this problem, we introduced Newton and Born methods to accelerate and complete the the solution of algorithm, and developed a three-dimensional MF-FDFD algorithm. We validated our algorithm by simulating a mode converter. Our algorithm can effectively perform first principles simulations for active nanophotonic devices, laying the foundation for future intelligent inverse design. © 2023 SPIE. All rights reserved.

Lensless imaging provides opportunities to design imaging systems free from the constraints imposed by traditional camera architectures. Due to advances in imaging hardware, fabrication techniques, and new algorithms, researchers have recently developed lensless imaging systems that are extremely compact and lightweight or able to image higher-dimensional quantities. Here we review these recent advances and describe the design principles and their effects that one should consider when developing and using lensless imaging systems. Lead sulfide colloidal quantum dots (PbS CQDs) offer the unique advantages of tunable bandgap, cost-effectiveness, and ease of processing. These characteristics make PbS CQDs an ideal candidate for the development of near-infrared (NIR) photodetectors, with promising applications in diverse fields such as fiber optic communication, biomedical imaging, and national defense. In this study, NIR photodetectors employing indium gallium zinc oxide (IGZO) as the carrier conductive layer, PbS CQDs as the photosensitive layer, and pentacene as the functional enhancement layer are fabricated and systematically studied. Comparative analysis unveiled That the p-type semiconductor property of the pentacene is leveraged to increase the photoresposne of the PbS CQDs-IGZO NIR photodetectors. This work not only sheds light on the structural advancements of photosensitive field-effect transistors but also provides valuable insights into optimizing their performance. © 2024 SPIE.

Nowadays, the focus is on portable, non-invasive devices with a variety of functions, such as continuous monitoring through smartwatches or biologic signal-controlled prosthetic limb control. The signal acquisition and processing steps are the underlying principles behind all of these applications. This study proposes a low-budget Arduino-based acquisition system for recording forearm surface electromyography signals, which are then analyzed using Matlab software. The signals are recorded from four right-handed healthy individuals, following an established protocol consisting of ten 30 -second recordings per hand, with movements that alternate between five seconds of contraction and five seconds of relaxation. The classification results are then achieved by processing the data using the Support Vector Machine algorithm and GridSearch. There are four experiments conducted. The first one distinguishes between contraction and relaxation, then three additional experiments are performed following the same procedure (discriminations between gender, hand, gender and hand). Subsequently, a graphical user interface is designed to display the uploaded signal together with some details about the patients, the experiment, and the classification outcomes. The results achieved with the Arduino microcontroller are confirmed by performing the same steps using the Biopac system and comparing the outcomes in terms of metrics. © 2024 Division of Signal processing and Electronic systems, Poznan University of Technology (DSPES PUT).

OFs (optical Fibers) are broadly used for information broadcast systems due to their extensive information-carrying capability and dielectric environment. The OFs network architectures that use several WLs (wavelengths) per OFs connect thousands of users in central, urban, or large-scale applications with a wide range of transmission speeds and capabilities. This article defines a detailed introduction to optical fiber networks and general phases of communication of OF (optical Fiber) procedure. The taxonomy may be based on optical fibers such as;(i) Structure, (ii) number of modes, (iii) refractive index profile, (iv) dispersion, (v) signal processing capacity (vi) Polarization. After that, it explains the merits and demerits of optical fiber networks. They studied optical wireless communications applications such as SMs (shopping malls), UW (underwater), industries, etc. Several analyses with different optimization methods such as Genetic Algorithm (GA), Ant Colony Optimization (ACO), and Particle-Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithms. An effective resource-allocation method is required to reduce the issue of EE (energy-efficiency) and improve the presentation of quality-of-services of the ONs (optical Networks). © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents a method for supporting wayfinding in crowded buildings using Visible Light Communication (VLC). Luminaires are repurposed to transmit encoded messages, providing location-based information to users. Tetra chromatic LEDs and OOK modulation efficiently transmit data, while error detection techniques ensure reliable transmission. Users carry receivers that interpret the light signals and perform localization calculations. Wayfinding algorithms guide users with turn-by-turn directions, landmarks, and alerts. The system integrates VLC into an edge/fog architecture, utilizing existing lighting infrastructure for efficient data processing and communication. It enables indoor navigation without GPS, demonstrating self-localization and optimizing routes. This method enhances accessibility and convenience in unfamiliar buildings. © 2024 SPIE.

Selecting suitable techniques and datasets for a machine learning problem is a great challenge. This research investigates the available machine learning architectures, datasets, and software tools, for cursive context-specific printed text. Despite the existence of millions of speakers around the globe and rich literary history of more than thousands of years, it is hard to find computational linguistic works related to the Punjabi Shahmukhi script, a member of Perso-Arabic context-specific script - a low-resource language family. An investigation of related work through collected statistics inspired by the popularity and success of artificial neural networks and associated techniques have presented. The historical development of the script follows it in a literary sense and the importance and motivation in the development of optical character recognition systems, algorithms, and techniques. The paper discussed the available datasets and the need for a custom dataset. Based on recent research trends in machine learning frameworks, the work presents the most popular deep learning techniques, convolutional neural networks, and recursive neural networks for cursive context-specific scripts. This paper incorporates actual knowledge to promote research in machine learning and natural language processing disciplines and the selection of algorithms, architectures, and resources. © 2023 IEEE.
