In this paper, an initial novel userinterface prototype is developed and evaluated to assist vision impaired people to avoid collision with moving people while navigating in indoor environments. The userinterface performs both pose classification and distance estimation based on RGB images and sends the results to the decision tree classifier model which classifies whether it is safe for vision impaired person to navigate, or should the vision impaired person be cautious or stop to avoid collision with the moving person. Experimentation showed that the userinterface with the combined performance of pose classification, distance estimation and decision tree model showed an accuracy of 93.55% on a testing video dataset.

MouthIO is the first customizable intraoral userinterface that can be equipped with various sensors and output components. It consists of an SLA-printed brace that houses a flexible PCB within a bite-proof enclosure positioned between the molar teeth and inner cheeks. All parts in contact with the oral cavity are made of bio-compatible materials to ensure safety, while the design takes into account both comfort and portability. We demonstrate MouthIO through three application examples ranging from beverage consumption monitoring, health monitoring, to assistive technology.

Interactive Task Learning (ITL) systems acquire task knowledge from human instructions in natural language interaction. The interaction design of ITL agents for hierarchical tasks stays uncharted. This paper studied Verbal Apprentice Learner(VAL) for gaming, as an ITL example, and qualitatively analyzed the user study data to provide design insights on dialogue language types, task instruction strategies, and error handling. We then proposed an interface design: Editable Hierarchy Knowledge (EHK), as a generic probe for ITL systems for hierarchical tasks.

Designing effective 3D userinterfaces for immersive technologies remains tedious and manual, particularly for the successful integration of complex interactive 3D content. Palimpsest automates parts of this workflow by associating 3D userinterface elements with interactive 3D content, laid out without code by the designer. We demonstrate a custom-developed UI framework, built on top of recently introduced workflows for Apple Vision Pro, streamlining the coherent spatial arrangement of 3D model libraries, animations, and textures in relation to tracked 3D objects or 2D images in the users environment. In this demonstration, we showcase several sample applications built with Palimpsest in architectural visualization, hybrid puzzle games, and spatial reading.
