Indoor thermal comfort control research based on adaptive fuzzy strategy

An adaptive fuzzy control strategy is presented for a comfort air-conditioning system concerning energy performance and indoor thermal comfort requirements. Predicted Mean Vote (PMV) index was incorporated into the control strategy to assess thermal comfort level. The non-linear and time-varying plant is identified by using fuzzy model;And the fuzzy controller is designed on the basis of inversion of plant fuzzy model. Both the plant identification and controller design proceed automatically in real time, thus adapting the control system to the changing plant characteristics and ambient disturbances. The experiment results indicate that the proposed techniques have better adaptiveness and robustness than conventional PID control scheme and thus improve the indoor thermal comfort while saving energy considerably.

An efficient approach is proposed to develop the efficient expert system for intelligent instrument fault diagnosis. According to the characteristics of intelligent instrument faults, the hybrid inference method combined with the rule-based reasoning and the case-based reasoning is adopted. In the rule-based reasoning, a hierarchical search method is proposed, and the diagnostic priority of each rule in a specified search level is determined based on a fuzzy multi-attribute group decision making method. According to such an inference strategy, the knowledge base in this expert system is optimally designed in SQL Server database technology, and an efficient expert system for intelligent instrument fault diagnosis is developed in ***. In actual use, the expert system shows higher diagnosis efficiency than its first version.

A state stability-based triggered update mechanism for distance vector algorithm

Triggered update is a common mechanism of Distance Vector (DV) algorithm to accelerate network convergence and alleviate routing loops. However, triggered update based on variety of absolute value of state is difficult to reflect dynamic characteristics of state fluctuations and may trigger around the trigger boundary or threshold frequently and meaninglessly. This paper proposes a state stability-based triggered update mechanism for DV algorithm (SSB-TU). SSB-TU acquires the stability variety of delay state according to second-moment-based function of statistical parameters and then generates and transfers triggered update. Computer simulation and analysis indicate that, SSB-TU can clearly reflect state fluctuation and guarantee important network performances like network throughput etc., meanwhile, timely update network state that varies distinctively and efficiently mitigate routing loops.

In this paper, we present the implementation of a software estimation model to evaluate effort, schedule and cost of software development during all the phases of a project. An approach based on COCOMO H model is used, and we propose an adaptation to a particular context of an organization. Both human and cultural aspects of the company are considered in order to mitigate the problem of acceptability. Our model is based on the work of Dr. Allan Albrecht on Function Points (FP) and Dr. Barry Boehm on COCOMO II model.

This paper deals with the safety evaluation process required by law for high safety related system in rail in Europe. A methodology is given to guide the independent analysis and evaluation process. In a general framework for requirement engineering process, the proposed methodology aims at speeding up the process of safety evaluation and to facilitate the work of the independent checker and of the assessor of the system in a systematic way. The methodology is based on a functional analysis approach using the exchange of dataflows. An adaptive low complexity lossless segment(context) based color image compression method is. proposed by this paper. First, adaptive context based dividing for an image is conducted to find optimal fixed length codes that are used for storing relative values of every pixel in each segment of the image and the length for each segment by a modified greedy algorithm. Then a modified Huffman coding is applied for the result of the first compression. The complexity of the first compression for the developed method is 0(n). The developed method was tested by a typical set of natural images. For some type of images, the compression ratios are very high.

Application of order cepstrum and neural network to gear fault detection

A study is presented to apply order cepstrum and radial basis function (RBF) artificial neural network (ANN) for gear fault detection during speed-up process. This method combines computed order tracking, cepstrum analysis with ANN Firstly, the vibration signal during speed-up process of the gearbox is sampled at constant time increments and then is resampled at constant angle increments. Secondly, the resampled signals are processed by cepstrum analysis. The order cepetrum of with normal, wear and crack fault are processed for feature extracting. In the end, the extracted features are used as inputs to RBF for recognition. The RBF is trained with a subset of the experimental data for known machine conditions. The ANN is tested using the remaining set of data. The procedure is illustrated using the experimental vibration data of a gearbox. The results show the effectiveness of order cepstrum and RBF in detection of the gear condition.

In this paper, we present a conception methodology based on system requirements, whithin which we propose to integrate formalisation and verification into the same process. This method uses the constraint programming paradigm to synthesize Petri nets corresponding to a formal expression of requirements as constraints over the PN structure. Genetic adaptive control for drum level of a power plant boiler

Adaptive control strategy is proposed to regulate the drum-level of a power plant boiler. Based on the three-element feedwater control system, recursive least squares method is used to identify the plant parameters and then genetic algorithm (GA) is applied to adjust the parameters of the controller. MATLAB simulation investigation indicates that, compared to the parameter-fixed PID system, GA-self-tuned system is able to reject endogenous and exogenous disturbances more effectively and rapidly, thus has better self-adaptation capability and robustness.

In this paper, a fast evaluation system for remote real-time health monitoring and evaluation of long bridge structure is proposed. The main idea of this system is to apply the reliability design theory for static structure into the dynamic remote health monitoring and reliability evaluation of bridges. The real-time safety evaluation of bridges includes the following components: (1) dynamic acquisition of optimal statistical parameters through distribution testing of fitting performance;(2) real-time analysis of section dynamic reliability of bridge structure;and (3) evaluation of bridge structure reliability by using PNET method in comparison to the standard reliability index commonly used in highway engineering. This research first realizes the real-time dynamic bridge reliability analysis based on the monitoring data analysis and then evaluates in real time the objective health conditions of bridge. The performance of remote monitoring and evaluation over long bridges demonstrates that the proposed evaluation system can deal with real-time information monitoring, evaluate reliably the bridge safety and promote intelligent development of bridge structures.
