Future smart grids will require an observable, controllable and flexible network architecture for reliable and efficient energy delivery. The use of artificial intelligence and advanced communication technologies is essential in building a fully automated system. This paper introduces a new technique for online optimal operation of distributed generation (DG) resources, i.e. a hybrid fuel cell (FC) and photovoltaic (PV) system for residential applications. The proposed technique aims to minimize the total daily operating cost of a group of residential homes by managing the operation of embedded DG units remotely from a control centre. The target is formed as an objective function that is solved using genetic algorithm (GA) optimization technique. The optimal settings of the DG units obtained from the optimization process are sent to each DG unit through a fully automated system. The results show that the proposed technique succeeded in defining the optimal operating points of the DGs that affect directly the total operating cost of the entire system.

In this study, the high strength steel DH780 produced by Shougang Group was used to form a traditional part B-pillar. The effect of process parameters, namely blank holder force and friction coefficient on the formability was analyzed. The decrease of BHF and friction coefficient can increase the formability. And the optimization methods were introduced and applied to form a qualified part. Three optimization methods were employed, namely optimizing the critical surface of die, modifying the geometric parameter of drawbead, and changing the corner size near the critical area. The qualified part can be formed with the proper optimization.

The main objective of this paper is to present the technical aspect of motor controls and its Industrial applications using PLC and SCADA. automation is the process of using advanced technology to control equipment, which usually involves electrical hardware. Some of the practical circuits which involves the control of electrical motors for various applications including Agriculture in industrial automations are demonstrated in this paper. The enterprise has to determine and manage numerous and interrelated activities for successful work and to maximize profits. According to the international standard ISO 9001-2011, the activity using resources and managed in order to transform inputs to outputs can be considered as a business process. Using a process system in an organization along with their identification and interaction, as well as process management aimed at obtaining the desired result, can be defined as a 'process approach'. The object of this study is a business process that is one of the key concepts of the international standard ISO 9001-2011. This standard establishes the requirements for quality management systems and describes the principles of applying the process approach, the essence of which is continuous process management. The article deals with the individual business processes in the enterprise and their subsequent task automation with using information technology. An automated application was proposed within the study that provides automatic search for part sizes that do not correspond to the tolerance field, automatic construction of control charts of average values and ranges, as well as calculation of process reproducibility indices.

The current level of production development requires the training of qualified specialists capable of solving complex scientific and technical problems in the field of technical systems management using rapidly changing information technologies. Consequently, the training of professional personnel should provide for the needs of developers of advancedcontrol systems for complex dynamic objects. This problem is successfully solved at the Department of automation and controlprocesses (ACP department) in ETU 'LETI'. Students training is carried out in two complementary directions 'Management in technical systems' and 'Information systems and technologies'. Long-term experience proves the advisability of choosing such an approach in the context of rapidly developing technologies. The report contains studies based on the application of data analysis methods and models that dynamically integrate the information necessary for adaptive management of the process of advanced specialists training. The dataset includes: actual employers' data, production needs, on the one hand, data obtained during the educational process, on the other hand. At the same time, the data set includes data that enable students to assess the effectiveness of the educational services provision, the level of professional training in the areas of specialty. Comprehensive analysis of data integrated in a unified environment, based on the methods of intelligent systems, analytics and knowledge engineering, proves the validity of choosing this approach in the learning process.

Underground construction projects require accurate techniques for machine guidance control. This paper presents an advanced design of a fully integrated active laser target (ALT), which is employed as an optical displacement and orientation sensor. The instrument is mounted on a tunnel boring machine (TBM) and delivers the TBM's pitch and yaw angles to a remote host system. The optical arrangement of the device includes a semitransparent glass target and an opaque aluminum target, whereby measures are taken to increase the sensitivity of red light. A red reference laser beam is projected onto both parallel targets;the positions of the laser spots are observed by two Power over Ethernet (PoE) enabled Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) cameras. A robust plane-to-plane mapping using projective transformation is presented together with a cross validation procedure, which evaluates the quality of the calibration. An a-priori estimation of measurement uncertainty can be given. The system level calibration process yields two sets of transformation coefficients, such that the distortion associated with the optical components and the inexactness of the mechanical construction are effectively canceled out. Multiple images are acquired for a single measurement and analyzed statistically to deliver a statement of measurement uncertainty in order to compensate for mechanical vibrations during the machine's operation.

Preface First International conference on advanced Algorithms and control Engineering (ICAACE 2018) will be held on August 10-12, 2018 in National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, Taiwan. We have invited scholars and researchers from all over the world to present the conference. Co-sponsored by Chongqing University, China and National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, Taiwan, ICAACE 2018 will prepare an international stage for experts to share their research findings in the area of materials and manufacturing. The conference is featured with invited speeches and paper presentations. About 90 speakers have been invited to ICAACE 2018 to present their research achievements. We believe these lectures and presentations will be well appreciated by the attendees. During the conference, about 300 participants from the industry and academia will exchange cutting edge knowledge with each other and discuss 5 topics including: 1. Algorithms 2. This paper considers the performance improvement of PLC-based processcontrol systems through Industry 4.0 by harnessing cyber-physical systems (CPS), which is an integration of control, computation, and networking to intertwine intensely cyber and physical components. To accomplish these needs, open processcontrol (OPC) unified architecture (UA) is exercised as a horizontal and vertical integrator of the CPS-based processautomation. The three interacting tank process is the preferred testing plant because this system has become a proven benchmark for testing advancedcontrol system in the laboratory scale. In this paper, the cyber component accomplishes parameter optimization of the PID controller for the level control of the three interacting tank process and schedules the appropriate PID controller that matches the level operating conditions. The control implementation shows that CPS for the level control of the three interacting tank process works well by resulting in smaller integral square error (ISE) value. Moreover, the cloud-based database can be established directly using OPC UA for real-time monitoring of the process through websites using the Internet network with data delivery rate of 100%.

In order to be able to successfully compete in global markets, producers have to introduce innovative solutions, both in the technologies themselves and in the organization of manufacturing. They must ensure high, stable quality and efficiency, as well as meet the expectations of the recipients of the product, including rhythmicity of supplies, the ability to quickly switch production to another model, documenting and archiving the data of manufacturing process. These requirements can be met by installations with a high level of automation, using the latest Industry 4.0 concepts. An example of such an approach is implementing the technology of the automated assembling of gas spring sockets. In the paper, the manufacturing machine which realises this technology is presented. The advanced mechatronic solutions, using modern control systems, sensors, a human-machine interface with a conversational communication system and ICT tools, were integrated with it.

Construction automation, manufacturing automation, interiors in home automation, artificial intelligence, etc. are some of the examples. Usage and monitoring of interior household appliances manually or automatically is known as home automation. Slowly but steadily the interface between machines or computers has narrowed significantly. Hand gesture-based home automation is becoming increasingly prevalent in today’s world. Gesture recognition is the process of identifying individual body parts such as the hand and ears. Bulks of electronic components are manufactured based on this gesture. The primary goal of home automation is to manage our daily interior equipment, such as lights and thermostats effectively with minimal power/energy consumption. It’s not only about lights, but also about other interior equipment like DC motors, fans, and other devices. The internet of things-based home automation aims to control all of the gadgets we use in our everyday lives at home. In this, research work is carried for automation of home gadgets with a Raspberry Pi by using a smartphone app and a relay to monitor interior gadgets from afar.
