The integration of the Internet of Things (IoT) with 6G networks promises a huge potential for improvised industrial communication. A large number of low-power communication technologies is expected to be part of 6 G in industrial IoT for data collection, forwarding, and actuation. Industrial IoT (IIOT) requires deterministic network services, which can meet the demand for real-time services. Edge-based solutions can help 6G networks meet the requirements of real-time services demanding lower latency. This work aims to address such real-time demands with efficient use of radio resources using 6TiSCH (IPv6 over Time Slotted Channel Hopping (TSCH) mode). In this paper, we propose an edge-based downlink scheduling scheme for the 6TiSCH-based IIoT network named EDSN. EDSN leverages a computation and communication model using edge computing and 6TiSCH scheduling to minimize the overall network latency for downlink data traffic. It schedules actuation (downlink) signals based on the criticality of the received sensor data and the location of the actuators. EDSN analyzes traffic at the edge nodes and allocates a suitable downlink schedule to meet the application requirements of the edge controller. The scheme offers a fair mechanism for provisioning timely schedules for low-priority packets and significantly reduces downlink action times compared to the state-of-the-art. Our experimental results demonstrate that EDSN can effectively reduce response times and improve packet delivery ratios for priority traffic, making it a promising solution for IIoT applications that require low response times and reliable packet delivery. © 2024 IEEE.

A well-known advanced driver assistance technology that can be employed for that is the Adaptive Cruise Control System (ACC). Cars equipped with ACC system are to control the car speed to follow a driver's set speed closely when there is no leading car. When a slower leading car is present based on distance sensor, the ACC controlled car are able to keep desired distance with respect to the position and velocity of the car in front. This paper presents a design methodology of Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system for two smart car platform consist of the leading smart car and a host smart car move on a single lane on a laboratory installation. RST algorithm in the multi algorithms structure is proposed to design in real-time architecture for ACC system. RST algorithm is one of the most effective solutions for the real-time control of nonlinear systems or working regimes. The results of the experiment have been conducted to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.

An all-fiber sensor for heart rate (HR) monitoring is proposed and demonstrated based on the disturbance of the evanescent field in the no-core fiber (NCF). The sensing structure is realized through splicing a piece of single mode fiber at the ends of the NCF, respectively. When a broad-band light is injected into the structure, the vibration of the pulse signal applied to the sensing structure will lead to the disturbance of the evanescent field in the NCF and modulate the intensity of the optical output power. Therefore, when the sensing structure is placed at the wrist of a human, it can be used to monitor the HR. It is demonstrated that a standard electrocardiogram (ECG) signal can be obtained when 30mm long NCF is used in monitoring the HR. According to the measured ECG signals, the proposed sensor can have a response to the heart pulse at different rates ranging from 50 beats per minute to 120 bpm.

This paper presents a humidity sensor consisting of a two-port piezoelectric bulk wave resonator and a uniform layer of graphene oxide (GO) film, aiming for the applications of human-machine interaction. With the help of the hydrophilic GO film, the sensor possesses high sensitivity (195 Hz/%RH with an operating frequency of 10.5 MHz) and low hysteresis (less than 3%RH) to environmental humidity changes. Meanwhile, the humidity response of the sensor is rapid, highly repeatable and stable, which endows the sensor a fast and accurate response to the approach of a human finger. Moreover, by leveraging the different reactions of the sensor to the finger approaching and staying for various lengths of time, the noncontact information input can be realized in the form of Morse code.

This research proposes an environmentally friendly power-based micro-grid management system for successfully utilizing environmentally friendly power and thereby reducing energy consumption from the force network. Renewable energy sources such as lunar energy from Photovoltaic (PV) cells and wind energy from wind energy conversion systems may be used to power the system more resourcefully during periods of inactivity by store this power in batteries. The stored energy may be used to manage the base load, such as the fan and light, through Light Depending Resistor (LDR) and Passive Infrared sensor (PIR). advanced Internet of Things (IoT) technology may be used to manage a schedulable load based on the buyer's requirements. This is demonstrated by comparing the energy use of two modes of operations i.e. Conventional and Autonomous. In this study, Fuzzy Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) is proposed using MATLAB for micro-grid management system. Thus, we obtained a framework with increased efficacy and a reduction in overall energy costs as a result of optimal booking and energy management. © 2023 IEEE.

The automotive industry is seen to be making a transformation from manual to semi-autonomous to fully autonomous vehicles. advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) forms a major building block for the next generation of highly Autonomous Vehicles. ADAS is among the fastest-growing segments in automotive electronics and includes large number of applications like Antilock braking system, automatic speed control, Parking assistance system, lane keeping assist etc. Parking assistant system supports several functionalities like Parking line detection, object detection, pedestrian classification, parking support functions etc. These functions are mainly implemented using Surround View Camera System (SVCS) which provides real-time view of the area surrounding the car. Parking Shield System (PSS) is one such parking support function which works with the help of SVCS. PSS is used as an aid to identify the damage caused to the parked vehicle. This work proposes a prototype development for PSS using Raspberry Pi. Acceleration sensor is used to detect the movement of the vehicle and once the vehicle movement is detected, LEDs glow (indicating opening of flaps and mirrors). Immediately, USB Camera connected to Raspberry Pi captures the image and is displayed in VNC Viewer window. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) has been one of the most prominent WSN technologies over the last many decades. Researchers have developed several clustering protocol variants of the DSR protocol based on diverse application circumstances. However, existing clustering protocols often involve sensor nodes expending a great deal of energy propagating messages on a wide scale in order to build clusters and find the best path between clusters. The majority of sensor nodes in WSN s rely on low-power batteries, which severely hampers the network's performance, reliability, and durability. This led to the development of several clustering techniques that aim to improve WSN energy efficiency. With the advent of Fifth Generation transmissions, several Internet of Things applications have begun to use Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) multiple antennas in order to increase capacity in multipath spectrum environments. In this paper, we provide Enhanced Node Energy and Lifetime Improvement Protocol, a novel cluster-assisted routing protocol designed to improve Wireless sensor Networks' energy efficiency. All four sections of the proposed ENELIP must be read in order. Partitioning a large-scale WSN to smaller sub-networks using a size-balanced approach is the first step in using 5G infrastructure. Second, minimization of energy consumption during centralized sub-network information maintenance is the goal of an estimation-based technique. The third step is to reduce the massive amount of energy needed to cluster nodes worldwide by implementing centralized query-driven clustering algorithms in each sub-network to group the query targets. Finally, a system is created for inter-cluster routing that is multi-sub networked, energy-efficient, and load-balanced. After conducting extensive research, it was shown that ENELIP outperforms other WSN protocols in terms of energy efficiency, resulting in an increase in the network lifetime. © 2024 IEEE.

Nowadays, computing applications operate in environments with multiple and heterogeneous data sources, such as data generated from IoT devices. Without contextual information, the information derived from these isolated data sources may cause bias, error, or a lack of correct comprehension. Data integration can help to promote a holistic view of data and support getting the most trustful meaning from the information. This work proposes an architecture in which ontologies help to provide context for data integration. Furthermore, ontologies and complex network concepts enrich context awareness and derive relations among data to identify events of interest. The approach is evaluated in a controlled experiment using real data from hydrological and hydrometric sensors. The results indicate it is possible to detect context and relate events from different data sources to new significant events through ontology and graph network analysis. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In this manuscript, we present a novel approach of utilizing the unintentional electromagnetic waves (EM) emanated from an Integrated Circuit (IC) to estimate its reliability. We focus on estimating characteristics like circuit aging and electromigration which can have a significant impact on the overall performance and reliability of ICs. Since aging and electromigration are unpredictable in nature because of the changes in working conditions, manufacturing process variation and malicious tampering, having an on-chip EM sensor to continuously monitor the circuit activity to estimate these factors is essential in mission critical applications. To this end, we discuss the design process of an on-chip EM sensor which consists of an array of antennas embedded on top of an unpackaged die. We demonstrate a method to visualize aging by measuring the EM waves and present the simulation results of the antennas used in the design of the proposed EM sensor for aging and electromigration detection in ICs. © 2023 IEEE.

We present a simple temperature sensing method based on a polystyrene (PS) and graphite (Gt) flakes nanocomposite. The conductive bridge formed by the Gt flakes, in conjunction with the elasticity of the PS with temperature, enables temperature sensing over a wide temperature range. The nanocomposite's hydrophobic nature ensures remarkable stability and resistance to changes in environmental humidity. Our experiments demonstrate that PS-based sensor stability is exceptional across a wide range of environmental humidity, from 10% to 80% RH, with high sensitivity (+0.37% °C-1) for temperature sensing between 20°C and 80°C, fast response time in seconds, and high detection resolution to 3°C change. These promising results indicate that the fully printed, flexible temperature sensor is a promising candidate for applications requiring flexible and accurate temperature sensing capabilities. © 2023 IEEE.
