BLDC motors provide excellent performance, durability, and efficiency, making them ideal for a variety of applications. The motor was operated by means of the six-step commutation process of the trapezoidal control approach, which was applied to the exact rotor position data obtained via Hall effect sensors. This approach perfectly times the commutation sequence, reducing torque ripple and improving motor performance. The design, modeling, and experimental findings validated the effectiveness of the proposed control technique, suggesting that it can be used to maximize BLDC motor performance in commercial and industrial applications.

The increasing frequency and severity of forest and land fires have become a significant environmental concern, necessitating the development of effective early detection and prediction systems. This paper presents a novel approach to address the issue through the implementation of a multi-sensor network system for forest and land fires. The proposed system integrates an array of advanced multi-sensors strategically placed across the targeted regions to capture and analyze a wide range of fire-related data. The key objective of the system is to enable timely identification of potential fire hotspots by continuously monitoring various environmental parameters, including temperature, humidity, and infrared radiation. The collected data is then processed and analyzed using machine learning algorithms to identify fire patterns and predict the likelihood of fire outbreaks. The system utilizes a network of sensors, and the system offers real-time and comprehensive coverage, allowing for rapid response and timely deployment of fire suppression resources. Furthermore, the results of extensive field tests and evaluations, demonstrate the system's accuracy and efficiency in early fire detection and prediction. The proposed system offers a case in Indonesia which is Riau Province with high-risk cases almost every year. Plotting results data achieved and forecasting of the incident for the future in the year 2023 with a successful percentage up to 93.6%. Ultimately, the integration of the multi-sensor network system into existing fire management frameworks promises to enhance emergency response capabilities and foster proactive measures to preserve our valuable forests and lands. © 2023 IEEE.

This project aims to develop an advanced and cost-effective solution to enhance safety in various environments by preventing collisions between objects. Employing Arduino microcontrollers and a range of sensors, the system operates in real-time to identify obstacles and take immediate corrective actions. Key components include ultrasonic sensors for accurate distance measurement, an Arduino microcontroller for data processing, and actuators such as motors or servos for executing avoidance maneuvers. By analyzing sensor data, the Arduino assesses obstacle proximity and triggers suitable responses to avoid collisions. The project introduces a flexible and scalable framework suitable for integration into different applications, including robotics, autonomous vehicles, and smart environments. Moreover, emphasis is placed on user-friendly customization, allowing end-users to adjust system parameters and behaviors according to specific requirements. Addressing the growing need for safety solutions in autonomous systems, robotics, and IoT applications, the Collision Avoidance System represents a significant advancement in reliable collision avoidance technologies. By providing an accessible and adaptable platform, the project facilitates the development of technologies that can reduce accidents, enhance operational efficiency, and promote the widespread adoption of autonomous systems across various domains.

This article presents an improved position control method of an overhang-type rail system considering a curved path. The designed system is driven by two BLAC (brushless ac) motors, and the moving position is controlled based on the signal from a simple Hall position sensor mounted on the motor without any absolute position sensors. The rail is composed of both linear and curved paths. For the linear rail, the two motors are controlled to rotate in the same speed. However, in a curved path, the two motors must have different moving distance according to the curvature. Generally, in order to determine the proper motion commands for both traction motors, the actual curvature state and position have to be detected by a potentiometer or an encoder equipped with linear position sensor, but this method significantly increases complexity and cost of the system. This article aims to solve this problem by using a low-cost semiconductor IMU (inertia measurement unit) to estimate the actual rail condition. The IMU will then estimate the heading angle variation to compensate the motion commands for the two BLAC motors without any additional external absolute sensors. As a result, a balanced and improved motion can be achieved for an arbitrary rail path. Practical experiments using an overhang-type rail traction system were performed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme. The results show the advanced control performance in both linear and curved path, and also a smooth transition between them both.

This research introduces the Photonics-Enhanced Embedded Robotic Intelligence Model (PEERIM), an innovative approach that integrates fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors with photonics and deep reinforcement learning (DRL) for advanced robotics applications. Addressing the limitations of current AI models in dynamic and complex environments, PEERIM leverages the rapid data transmission capabilities of photonics to process high-frequency sensor data, enabling real-time decision-making and enhanced automation. The methodology encompasses the development and integration of a variant of the Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) algorithm, tailored to manage the continuous data stream and execute precise, adaptive control. The proposed model has been empirically evaluated, demonstrating a significant improvement in handling real-time sensor data with an average reward of 99.02 and a low average loss of 0.099, indicating robust performance and learning stability. These findings suggest that PEERIM provides a substantial advantage over existing AI-driven robotic systems, offering a scalable solution for a variety of challenging applications. The study’s contributions lay the groundwork for future advancements in autonomous systems, promising a new era of precision and reliability in robotics.

This paper presents the design of a Radio Frequency IDentification antenna (RFID Antenna) in Super-High-Frequency band (SHF Band) radiated at the resonant frequency of 2.45 GHz, simulated with CST Studio electromagnetic simulation software. The patch antenna is a perfect electrical conductor, excited by a coaxial cable with a 50 Ohms impedance. The antenna is designed as a rectangular patch with a U-shaped slot of 35.5 × 26 mm² placed on a Rogers RO4350B substrate, dimension 71 × 47 mm². The antenna has a perfect adaptation and covers a frequency band of 2393.0-2569.5 MHz with a bandwidth of 176.5 MHz. Therefore, this bandwidth is sufficient for industrial applications that use wireless sensor networks for monitoring parameters like: temperature, humidity, and pressure.

Wearable sensor technologies have improved people’s daily lives through their applications in almost every field. sensor technologies of inventive kinds are used in an extensive variety of applications in lifestyle, healthcare, fitness, manufacturing, etc. There have also been crucial issues in making significant improvements to the actual mechanical, electrical, and optical sensing methods mainly in upgrading the precision of identification of wearable sensors to various stimuli. With an extensive study of the basic demands in wearable device technology as of now, the road map becomes clearer for creating greater innovations in the future. This is a review that gives an outline of types of wearable sensors by the score that is utilized in daily life.

This paper proposes a solution for wireless monitoring of concrete structures using batteryless wireless sensor nodes based on UHF RFID technology. The system comprises a reader device and one or more wireless sensor nodes, which are connected to various sensors. The wireless sensor nodes are powered by the reader, and the communication protocol is based on ISO 18000-63. An external chloride sensor is used to gauge the concentration of chloride ions, which indicate the degree of corrosion of the concrete structure. The proposed system eliminates the need for cables or batteries and allows for data collection in hard-to-reach areas. To ensure reliable operation of the system, an automated antenna design methodology has been proposed that utilizes a pixelated structure based on a cross-shaped pattern. The methodology employs an evolutionary algorithm to generate an initial population of antenna designs, which are subjected to electromagnetic simulation using a commercial simulation tool. The performance of the sensor platform was evaluated in concrete blocks, and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach for monitoring concrete structures.

Edge computing is a growing paradigm where compute resources are provisioned between data sources and the cloud to decrease compute latency from data transfer, lower costs, comply with security policies, and more. Edge systems are as varied as their applications, serving internet services, IoT, and emerging technologies. Due to the tight constraints experienced by many edge systems, research computing testbeds have become valuable tools for edge research and application benchmarking. Current testbed infrastructure, however, fails to properly emulate many important edge contexts leading to inaccurate benchmarking. Institutions with broad interests in edge computing can build testbeds, but prior work suggests that edge testbeds are often application or sensor specific. A general edge testbed should include access to many of the sensors, software, and accelerators on which edge systems rely, while slicing those resources to fit user-defined resource footprints. PROWESS is an edge testbed that answers this challenge. PROWESS provides access across an institution to sensors, compute resources, and software for testing constrained edge applications. PROWESS runs edge workloads as sets of containers with access to sensors and specialized hardware on an expandable cluster of light-weight edge nodes which leverage institutional networks to decrease implementation cost and provide wide access to sensors. We implemented a multi-node PROWESS deployment connected to sensors across Ohio State University's campus. Using three edge-native applications, we demonstrate that PROWESS is simple to configure, has a small resource footprint, scales gracefully, and minimally impacts institutional networks. We also show that PROWESS closely approximates native execution of edge workloads and facilitates experiments that other systems testbeds can not.

The paper deals with the computer systems frequency-dependent components using for processing sensor signals with the possibility of restructuring their characteristics. In the analysis course of second-order transfer functions, formulas were obtained that describe the numerator and denominator coefficients. The issues of stability express analysis and the transition process duration during restructuring are also considered. An example, the theoretical research application is given, which shows the restructuring efficiency on standard equations.
