This paper introduces an IIoT driven intelligent Security based robot "SENTINEL", leveraging an Arduino Uno, camera unit, ultrasonic sensor, motor controller, motors,The envisioned robot is engineered to autonomously survey a specified area, capturing images and videos with the camera unit. The ultrasonic sensor identifies obstacles to avert collisions, alerting the user. The robot maneuvers and alters its course through the motor controller and motors, managed by an Arduino Uno. This system finds utility in various domains, including surveillance and security, enhancing security-based system. It is economically developed, broadening its accessibility for future used. The system's deployment has undergone testing, demonstrating proficiency in recognizing and responding to environmental cues. A web- based interface facilitates remote control and monitoring by users.

Piezoelectric polymers are valued for their ease of fabrication and integration into devices, making them highly promising for self-powered systems and sensor applications that rely on converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. However, their relatively low piezoelectric performance compared to piezoelectric ceramics has limited their practical use. In this study, we present Te-doped PVDF piezoelectric nanofiber mats fabricated through electrospinning, demonstrating enhanced piezoelectric properties. Flexible piezoelectric nanogenerators (PENGs) incorporating 8 wt% Te in PVDF show a notable increase in output voltage, from 1.2 V to approximately 4.2 V, under a 5 N pressure at 3 Hz. This improvement allows the fiber mats to effectively convert mechanical energy into electrical energy, generating an instantaneous output power density of around $45.7 \mu \mathrm{W} / \text{cm}^applications$ , making them suitable for self-powered sensing and energy harvesting applications.

This project outlines the development and design of a Real-Time Electrical Monitoring System for residential buildings. Electrical faults are a leading cause of structural fires and fatalities, underscoring the need for reliable monitoring systems. Current electrical systems often lack sufficient monitoring of voltage and current levels, which can lead to potential failures and hazardous situations. Additionally, homeowners often have difficulty identifying fault locations during issues like overloading or overcurrent and lack access to real-time information about their electrical systems. This project aims to create a system that accurately monitors voltage and current levels in dedicated sockets, identifies fault locations, and employs IoT applications for real-time notifications and monitoring. The system utilizes components such as the ACS712 current sensor, ZMPT101B voltage sensor, ESP32 microcontroller, active buzzer, and Blynk platform for advanced monitoring and enable real-time data. In conclusion, this project demonstrates that the real-time monitoring system for dedicated sockets in residential buildings effectively overcomes potential hazards, enhancing the safety, efficiency, and reliability of household electrical systems and thereby protecting both property and lives.

Living and working in close proximity to hazardous gases poses significant risks to human lives, property, and the environment, necessitating vigilant monitoring and effective management. Traditional methods rely on strategically placed wired sensors and portable devices for employees, but dense deployments hinder mobility. To overcome this, we propose integrating nanotechnology and wireless sensor networks. Nanotechnology enables the development of small, highly sensitive gas sensors, while wireless sensor networks offer high spatio-temporal resolution, in-network processing. Our experience in monitoring ammonia with a wireless sensor network, comprising specialized and intermediate nodes, demonstrates the potential for more efficient and flexible solutions in hazardous environments. This innovative project introduces a cutting-edge system for monitoring toxic gases by integrating nanotechnology and wireless sensor networks. Utilizing Arduino microcontrollers, an LCD display, MQ2, MQ135, and MQ6 gas sensors, a buzzer, GSM module, and DHT11 humidity and temperature sensor, the system achieves real-time detection and alerting. The Arduino processes sensor data, displaying gas concentration levels on the LCD, triggering a buzzer, and activating the GSM module for immediate alerts in the presence of hazardous gases. The wireless sensor network ensures scalability and remote monitoring, making it well-suited for industrial, environmental, and safety applications. The supplementary DHT11 sensor provides additional data on humidity and temperature, contributing to comprehensive environmental analysis.

Current method for monitoring patients for cancer recurrence after treatment requires patients to travel to a centralized laboratory, causing time in scheduling appointments/waiting for results, financial burden in travel costs to clinics, and invasive procedures (i.e., biopsies) leading to discomfort in patients. To improve convenience, outcomes, and enable more frequent monitoring of cancer recurrence, we propose using an implantable hydrogel sensor for remote cancer surveillance. Gold nanostars (GNS), efficient plasmonic nanomaterials, embedded in hydrogels, enhance Raman scattering signals of cancer biomarkers. A handheld Raman spectroscopy probe collects these signals, representing the unique vibrational molecular fingerprint. Toward this effort, this study demonstrates the performance of a GNS-embedded hydrogel for discriminating serum in two preclinical mouse prostate cancer models: NSG and C57BL/6J mice. GNS labeled with 4mercaptobenzoic acid (4-MBA) were embedded in 70 mu L hydrogels. Six serum samples from NSG mice (3 with LNCaP subcutaneous tumors, 3 normal) and eight serum samples from C57BL/6J mice (3 wild type, 5 transgenic modifiedTRAMP with prostate cancer) were obtained. Serum (70 mu L) was incubated overnight (4 degrees C) with the hydrogel sample. Raman spectra were collected at five distinct locations using the Raman handheld probe. Spectral analysis involved intensity normalization, principal component analysis (PCA) for dimension reduction, and linear discriminate analysis (LDA) for classification with leave-one-spectra-out cross-validation. NSG mice exhibited band differences at 775-825 cm(-1), 1202-1249 cm(-1), and 1430-1478 cm(-1) (LDA ROC AUC = 0.83), while C57BL/6J mice showed differences at 1152-1245 cm(-1) and 1362-1407 cm(-1) (LDA ROC AUC = 0.98). Successful discrimination of serum in mouse models demonstrates the presence of biomarkers that differentiate cancer-bearing mice and the potential for remote cancer monitoring.

In this paper, a magnetic field sensor based on Terfenol-D coated optical fibers is proposed and demonstrated. In our scheme, standard single mode fibers are coated by a thick layer of a magnetostrictive composite consisting of Terfenol-D particles dispersed in a polymer, which is then utilized as sensing elements. The magnetic field-induced strain on single mode fibers coated by the Terfenol-D was interrogated by an optical frequency-domain reflectometry (OFDR). The experimental results show that the sensitivity of the magnetostrictive fiber sensor depends on the coating characteristics including the surface of coated optical fiber. The sensitivity of the proposed sensor is 0.175 mu epsilon/mT.

This paper presents a family of autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) platforms designed for a diverse range of indoor and outdoor applications. The proposed UAV design is highly modular in terms of used actuators, sensor configurations, and even UAV frames. This allows to achieve, with minimal effort, a proper experimental setup for single, as well as, multi-robot scenarios. Presented platforms are intended to facilitate the transition from simulations, and simplified laboratory experiments, into the deployment of aerial robots into uncertain and hard-to-model real-world conditions. We present mechanical designs, electric configurations, and dynamic models of the UAVs, followed by numerous recommendations and technical details required for building such a fully autonomous UAV system for experimental verification of scientific achievements. To show strength and high variability of the proposed system, we present results of tens of completely different real-robot experiments in various environments using distinct actuator and sensory configurations.

We describe progress developing infrared detectors with HgCdTe grown on silicon substrates using Molecular Beam Epitaxial growth. The project is a collaboration between the RIT Center for Detectors and Raytheon Vision systems (RVS). NASA and NSF jointly funded the program, known as SATIN (Short-wave infrared advanced Technologies and Instrumentation program funded by NASA and NSF). We present detector characterization results for detectors made in the final lot of devices made by RVS. A full suite of characterization results, including for dark current, read noise, spectral response, persistence, linearity, full well, and crosstalk probability, are presented. The performance satisfies requirements for astronomy imaging applications. We plan to use the design to make HELLSTAR (HgCdTe Extremely Large Layout sensor Technology for Astrophysics Research), a 4Kx6K infrared detector with the highest number of pixels ever made for infrared astronomy.

A dual-parameter sensor for directional bending and temperature sensing based on side-polished multimode fiber is proposed. In this scheme, a side-polished multimode fiber is spliced between two sections of coreless fiber to form a Mach-Zehnder interferometer. The side-polished structure induces distinct phase changes when the fiber is bent from different directions. The side-polished fiber exhibits wavelength responses of $3.252 \text{nm}/\mathrm{m}^{-1}$ and $-1.146 \text{nm}/\mathrm{m}^{-1}$ in $0^\circ$ and $180^{\circ}$ bending, respectively. This same structure is further demonstrated for high-sensitivity temperature sensing by coating it with Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). The PDMS-coated sensor shows an improved sensitivity of - $-107.9 \text{pm}/^{\circ}\mathrm{C}$ compared to the uncoated sensor which attain sensitivity of 55.7 $\text{pm}/^{\circ}\mathrm{C}$ . The results of this study demonstrate the sensor's potential for use in multi-parameter sensing applications, including medical wearable devices, soft robotics, and health monitoring of civil and mechanical engineering structures.
