Natural disasters, such as landslides and floods, can cause significant loss of life, damage to property, and disruption of essential services. Timely and accurate early warning systems are vital for minimizing the impact of these disasters and enabling proactive emergency response. However, many regions prone to such disasters, particularly in remote areas, often suffer from limited network connectivity, which hampers the deployment and effectiveness of traditional early warning systems. In recent years, the rise of the Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized the way we collect, analyze, and utilize data. IoT technologies offer the potential to overcome the challenges posed by low network connectivity and provide real-time monitoring and early warning capabilities even in remote areas. By deploying a network of interconnected sensors, data can be collected and processed locally, reducing reliance on extensive network infrastructure. This paper proposes an IoT-based architecture specifically designed for landslide and flood early warning systems in regions with low network connectivity. The architecture harnesses the power of IoT devices, including wireless sensor networks, data analytics algorithms, and cloud computing, to enable the collection, analysis, and dissemination of critical data in real-time. The key contribution of this research is designing a robust and scalable IoT architecture tailored to the specific requirements of landslide and flood early warning systems. The architecture provided the efficient data collection mechanisms using wireless sensor networks to capture environmental parameters and provide real-time updates, implementing advanced data analytics algorithms to process sensor data and detect potential landslide or flood events. The architecture was designed a cloud-based infrastructure for storage, processing, and analysis of the collected data, considering the limitations of low network connectivity support by a reliable communication

This paper presents an all-PMOS charge-pump cell that enhances efficiency using advanced bulk-bias techniques. Traditional designs struggle with switching losses and threshold voltage effects, especially under low voltage or high-frequency conditions. Our design mitigates these issues by optimizing charge transfer through improved bulk management. The proposed architecture shows significant efficiency gains, validated through theoretical analysis and experimental results, making it a robust solution for efficient DC-DC conversion applications.

Multimodal data, which includes various data formats such as image, video, text, and sensor data, is essential for urban traffic management. The lack of proven multimodal transportation data has been a significant challenge for urban planners, leading to biased or incomplete estimates of travel demand, mode choice, and network performance. Multimodal data integration offers a valuable resource for understanding and optimizing traffic control and management. However, the heterogeneity of the data, various kinds of noise, alignment of modalities, and techniques to handle missing data are some of the challenges that arise. This paper presents a novel multimodal dataset which is the first of its kind, its scraped from England Highways, incorporating speed, flow, and camera images for the M60, M25, and M1 motorways. The dataset provides a comprehensive view of traffic behavior at specific junctions, enabling detailed analysis and real-world applications. By integrating previously disparate data sources, this dataset offers a valuable resource for understanding and optimizing traffic control and management. The paper outlines the dataset's development, including the gathering of speed and flow data, and the use of image scraping techniques to capture CCTV images. The potential applications of the dataset for traffic control, planning, and optimization are also discussed. Overall, this multimodal dataset represents a significant contribution to the field, with implications for the development of advanced traffic management systems and the improvement of transportation infrastructure.

As soft robotics applications become more complex, control requirements increase. However, advanced control approaches require sensors which do not infer with the softness of the robot. In order to measure the current configuration of the robot, curvature measurements are of great importance, since bending is usually the main deformation of soft robots. This paper presents the design, fabrication, and trajectory tracking control of a novel low-cost fiber-optic soft curvature sensor that can measure the magnitude and direction of the curvature in two spatial directions. The curvature sensor can be seamlessly integrated into the silicone body of soft robots, preserving their inherent softness. The trajectory control of a beam-shaped soft robot is considered here as an example. For trajectory tracking control, an inverse kinematic feedforward controller combined with a simple feedback controller is investigated. Experiments show that the combined controller provides accurate trajectory tracking control with good disturbance rejection.

This paper introduces the G-TOK framework, which utilizes advanced zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs) and dynamic verifiable credentials (VCs) to preserve data privacy in sensor data sharing on blockchain networks. As industries increasingly depend on accurate and confidential sensor data from IoT applications, maintaining privacy and data integrity becomes a significant challenge. Our framework specifically addresses this issue in the context of smart environment sensor networks. Typically, data access control in such networks is either fully permissioned or overly restrictive, lacking mechanisms for selective disclosure access control. Our approach aims to enhance encrypted decentralized data storage and improve data interoperability. It includes dynamic VCs, authenticated privacy-preserving tokenization of geolocation data, and a decentralized real-time location verification scheme. Additionally, we propose a proof-of-footprint (PoF) schema, showcasing the integration and practicality of cutting-edge technologies such as ZKPs, VCs, and self-sovereign identities. This schema aligns with international standards, including the Verifiable Credentials Data Model v2.0 1 and selective disclosure of JSON Web Token (JWT) claims 2 .

Detecting glass targets and obstacles has significant practical importance in modern society. However, the state-of-art GMapping algorithms suffer from inaccuracies in identifying and mapping their positions when used to deal with highly transparent and reflective glass obstacles under the conditions with only laser sensors. This finally results in incomplete maps and potential navigation errors in robot SLAM applications. To overcome the limitation, the paper presents an enhanced GMapping algorithm by incorporating a glass detection method to fuse laser and ultrasonic data. By exploiting the disparity in distances measured by these two sensors, the method effectively detects glass and refines the algorithm by substituting erroneous distance data with accurate ones. The indoor experimental results demonstrate the improvement of mapping accuracy and reduction of navigation errors owing to the application of the proposed sensor fusion method.

The purpose of this study is to create a LoRa-based smart farming management and surveillance system. Utilizing Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs) in rural settings, with the aim of replacing the existing technology in agricultural monitoring systems. A dedicated private network server is established and connected to a gateway, which gathers information or signals from the nodes at the end and sends this data to the cloud without the need for routers. This data can then be utilized for various applications by the end users. The system overcomes issues related to communication failures and energy-efficient data transmission. This advanced farming platform enhances the effectiveness of farming methods. The proposed methodology is the application of resources including as water, fertilizers, and pesticides should be optimized in order to achieve maximum efficiency while simultaneously minimizing waste. Farming productivity and sustainability are both significantly improved because of its contribution, notably in terms of the efficient management of resources. And intelligent cities used to improve agriculture—comparing the planned weather station and the numerous developed patents. The technique here is like a cutting-edge, reasonably priced choice for local weather monitoring.

advanced communication and sensing technologies have become a focus for the development of transportation systems. The use of integrated sensors in automated driving vehicles is fundamental for the vehicle’s perception of its environment, and their performance directly determines the safety of automated driving vehicles. Generating adequate information from a single source is so difficult. That is why, for reliable and accurate environmental perception, it is essential to use adequate sensors. This article discusses the security challenges facing the main sensors used for environmental perception in autonomous vehicles’ applications. It mainly considers two types of sensors used in autonomous vehicles: cameras and light detection and ranging (LiDAR) sensors. The paper focuses on various conditions under which these sensors may operate in practice. It analyzes and summarizes the sensors based on their mandatory attributes, with a mention of the main advantages and disadvantages. The paper also defines and simulates attack models associated with these sensors. Based on a simulator and open-source tools, this document shows the impact of some security attacks against autonomous vehicle sensors.

The emerging technology of IoT-based garbage level monitoring systems is designed to monitor the waste fill levels in both public and industrial garbage bins. This system aims to assist municipal services in timely trash collection, preventing overflow and public discomfort. The advanced monitoring system not only measures garbage levels but also displays them on mobile screens and LCD displays, sending alerts via SMS through the GSM module. Additionally, it incorporates GPS modules to track the bin’s location and enables data access through the BLYNK App. The proposed system focuses on the development of IoT-based smart garbage bin, allowing real-time monitoring of garbage fill levels.
