GreenTech is a mobile application for IoT-based greenhouse management that integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI) and renewable energy to address challenges in modern agriculture. This project aims to optimize environmental control and crop growth in plastic greenhouses through real-time data analysis and automation. The system employs advanced sensors to monitor critical parameters, including temperature, humidity, and soil moisture, while AI algorithms provide actionable recommendations and automate climate adjustments. Users can remotely track greenhouse conditions and make data-driven decisions, resulting in improved resource efficiency and enhanced crop yields. Future research will focus on cost reduction, adaptive AI features, and expanded system functionalities to facilitate wider adoption in agricultural practices.

The emerging technology of IoT-based garbage level monitoring systems is designed to monitor the waste fill levels in both public and industrial garbage bins. This system aims to assist municipal services in timely trash collection, preventing overflow and public discomfort. The advanced monitoring system not only measures garbage levels but also displays them on mobile screens and LCD displays, sending alerts via SMS through the GSM module. Additionally, it incorporates GPS modules to track the bin’s location and enables data access through the BLYNK App. The proposed system focuses on the development of IoT-based smart garbage bin, allowing real-time monitoring of garbage fill levels.

To face both the ageing of power generators and their stress, the inspection of power generators is a critical task necessary to prevent damages and keep the performance and efficiency at their nominal level. In this context, robotic inspection can play a crucial role since it allows a quick and efficient method to acquire data on the status of generators within a short time. This paper describes an innovative robotic system composed of a crawler robot and an automatic positioning system able to move the robot radially along the power generator. Thanks to a novel multi-sensor analysis method, this robotic system can inspect and evaluate the overall status of power generators. The inspection system combines several sensors on board a crawler robot to detect insulation failures, mechanical damages or other defects. This work describes a mechatronic system that can perform a completely automated inspection of power generators. The robotic system is extremely flexible and can be adapted to various power generators.

With the promise of the massive deployment of 5G/mm-Wave technologies, low-maintenance and highly scalable wireless systems are desirable to meet the needs of the next generation IoT systems. Mm-Wave backscattering devices present great potential for IoT systems with their compact form factors, minimalist design, and available spectrum. This paper provides a review of the current state-of-the-art in semi-passive RFID/mmID tag technology, non-line-of-sight (NLOS) repeater architecture, and 5G/mm-Wave energy harvesting enabling low-latency wireless communication, precise localization, long-range capabilities, dense wireless sensor networks, and powering these next generation ultra-low-power RFID systems through the 5G wireless power-grid.

In the modern information society, applications of smartphone expand with the advance and integration of semiconductor technology. Many of these smartphones are equipped with camera functions. Due to performance improvements of CMOS image sensors, it has become possible to easily take pictures with high quality. Furthermore, advanced semiconductor technology can promote widespread dissemination of many types of LED lighting. We have developed an invisible information display lighting device. In the present study, an information recognition application is developed to adjust the camera function on a smartphone with the aim of practical application of the invisible information display lighting device. Several experiments are carried out to evaluate the readability qualitatively. This device shows several types of information, which can be recognized via the camera function on a smartphone and cannot be seen by the naked eye.

Surveillance is an important task during naval operations. This task can be performed with a combination of different sensors, including camera systems and radar. To obtain a consistent operational picture of possible threats in the vicinity of a ship, the information from the different sensors need to be combined into one overview image, in which all information related to one object is assigned to this object. In this paper, we present a new dataset for maritime surveillance applications and show two examples of combining information from different sensors. We have recorded data with several camera systems, automatic identification system (AIS) and radar in the Rotterdam Harbor. From all sensors we can obtain tracking information from the different objects. We present a method to associate the tracks and describe how snippets of the ships in the cameras can be used to enrich the information of the objects. Next to that, we show the combined information from AIS and imagery.

In the course of the rapid development of Industry 4.0, manufacturing machinery is becoming ever more connected. Such Cyber-Physical Production systems (CPPSs) produce large amounts of data, which can be used to analyze the system’s state and optimize its operation. To enable this analysis, the respective software components need to be interoperable with the CPPSs. While standards, such as OPC UA, provide interoperability on a technical protocol level, we see a vastly heterogeneous landscape of data models. Therefore, the integration of analysis components with their underlying CPPS is usually a laborious, manual process, also discouraging reuse. To facilitate the reuse of analysis software in this setting, we propose a model-driven method for integration with the underlying CPPS and the consumers of analysis results. Our contribution consists of (i) domain-specific languages for semantically enriched interface descriptions and simple mappings, (ii) a code generator toolchain to realize the specified mappings, and (iii) a simple, loosely coupled architecture for the resulting system.

This work presents a compact and robust CMOS temperature sensor with machine learning (ML) assisted design maximizing these performance trade-offs for dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) systems-on-chips (SoC). The gain-bandwidth is enhanced using closed-loop current generation and indirect Miller compensation so that the sensor can be powered by a noisy digital supply. The sensor is fabricated in 28nm CMOS process and occupies $\mathbf{0.0075\ mm^sensor}$ consuming $\boldsymbol{18.15} \boldsymbol{\mu} \mathbf{W}$ at room temperature from a 0.9 V supply. Systematical nonlinearity results in an inaccuracy of 3.1% from 0 °C to 100°C after two-point trim. The sensor achieves a 0.25 K resolution in a 2.44 ms conversion time. The measured supply sensitivity is 7.4 °C/V from 0.8 V to 1.05 V.

In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), sensors are scattered in a particular region to record and evaluate the physical data from the environment. They are widely utilised in various applications, including healthcare, event detection, agriculture, and disaster management. However, the challenges in WSNs include high bandwidth demand, energy consumption, route design, quality of service (QoS) provisioning, unusual activities, etc. However, numerous ways are being considered to solve the aforementioned difficulties. Detecting abnormal network movements is one of the most difficult challenges. An intrusion detection system (IDS) is a productive way to detect infiltration effectively. However, the growth of contemporary technologies necessitates using an effective IDS strategy. As a result, many academicians focus on reducing and eliminating anomalous network security vulnerabilities. According to the findings, machine learning techniques are more critical in addressing these issues. The accuracy of several machine learning algorithms for detecting intrusion in WSNs is investigated in this work. Furthermore, this paper examines the various datasets, performance measurements, and future directions.

In recent years, sensors have seen a growing interest and a high development in terms of variety of application fields. Interesting biomedical applications use cooperative sensors to monitor the patients' health status. Such set of cooperative sensors, sometimes equipping wearable or implantable devices, constitute the so called Biomedical Measurement systems (BMS). In this context, the cooperation among sensors is possible only if they share a common sense of time and the synchronization accuracy is a key factor for the accuracy and the reliability of the monitoring. In this paper a consensus based algorithm to overcome two typical synchronization challenges are taken into account: the trade-off accuracy versus network lifetime and the degradation of the synchronization accuracy in the case a new sensor is added in the network. © 2021 IEEE.
