Recently, work has been done to combine video-based structural dynamics with structural health monitoring—rather than using contact-based sensors such as accelerometers and strain gauges. The installation and maintenance costs of contact-based sensors along with the difficulty in processing the data from malfunctioning sensors pose a significant challenge for long-term, large-scale applications. Video-based structural health monitoring provides a framework for obtaining the data relevant to structural health monitoring without the drawbacks associated with contact-based sensors. Each pixel from a video can be analyzed for structural health monitoring, resulting in a higher data resolution than that collected by contact-based sensors. As video-based structural health monitoring is a new field, there are still major challenges to overcome. Undesirable event data such as atmospheric noise, misalignment or loss of camera monitor, or objects entering the frame can obstruct measurement procedures. Additionally, videos are inherently large in size—data of this magnitude is costly to analyze, transmit, and store for long-term applications. We improve the robustness of the full-field modal analysis algorithm by increasing the algorithm’s performance under various types of digital noise, occlusions, and rotations. Additionally, we use sparse sensing techniques to reduce the size of the transmitted and stored data, working toward making video-based dynamics a low-cost and robust option for structural health monitoring applications. © 2022, The Society for Experimental Mechanics, Inc.

Modern trends in advanced data communications lead to many improvements in the wireless sensor network (WSN) deployment. Sensing the data from the different environments is necessary to monitor and control the applications. It needs to organize a sufficient number of sensor nodes. In WSN, the small-sized sensor node is working with a very small battery with limited energy. Replacing the battery or recharging the battery is not feasible. So, the energy-efficient operation of WSN is the key factor. Many researchers have proposed WSN protocols for enhancing the lifetime and optimize the energy of WSN. In this paper, the performance of energy-efficient Algorithms like LEACH, PEGASIS, SEP, DDEEC, EESAA, IAATPC and EESCA are compared. Based on the simulation carried in MATLAB, the stability period of EESCA is enhanced by approximately 45%, 50% and network lifetime 44%, 65% as compared to LEACH and PEGASIS protocols respectively.

The primary goal is to develop an integrated platform that seamlessly combines cutting-edge sensor technologies, mobile applications, and intelligent alert systems to address the challenges associated with water quality monitoring and purification. The primary aim of this paper is to establish an effective and user-centric system that provides real-time insights into water quality parameters. This system includes advanced sensors and data is collected and transmitted to a secure Firebase database. A feature-rich mobile application empowers users to visualize, analyze, and interpret current and historical water quality data. Additionally, an intelligent alert system ensures immediate response to potential water quality deviations, promoting timely intervention.

The influence of post-processing (annealing and stress-annealing) on the Giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) effect in thin magnetic microwires is reviewed. High GMI effect has been observed in Co-rich magnetic microwires with vanishing magnetostriction coefficient. Post-processing including annealing or stress-annealing at adequate conditions allows further improvement of GMI effect in Co-rich magnetic microwires. © 2022 advanced Electromagnetics Symposium. The rapid expansion of Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs) has made them a critical component in various applications, from environmental monitoring to military surveillance. However, their inherent vulnerabilities make them prime targets for Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, that have the potential to significantly impair data integrity and network performance. This paper presents an advanced approach for DDoS detection in WSNs using an optimized Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM) network. The proposed method leverages the strengths of Bi-LSTM in capturing temporal dependencies and patterns within network traffic data, providing a robust mechanism for identifying anomalous activities indicative of DDoS attacks. To enhance the detection accuracy and efficiency, introduce a novel optimization technique that fine-tunes the BiLSTM parameters, balancing the trade-offs between detection performance and computational overhead. Extensive simulations demonstrate that our optimized Bi-LSTM model significantly outperforms traditional machine learning approaches and standard LSTM configurations. The results underline the potential of this approach in fortifying WSNs against sophisticated DDoS threats, ensuring reliable and secure network operations.

This paper presents a novel approach for fruit quality detection using a multi-modal system that combines sensor data and image processing techniques with deep learning. In the first stage of our experiment, we employed various sensors to measure temperature, gas levels, and moisture content using DHT 11 and MQ-135 sensors. These sensors provide valuable insights into the environmental conditions surrounding the fruits, which are crucial indicators of their freshness. In the second stage, we utilized image processing algorithms to pre-process fruit images and train a SqueezeNet convolutional neural network (CNN) to classify fruits into two classes: fresh and rotten. By integrating sensor data with image-based classification, our proposed method offers a comprehensive solution for real-time fruit quality assessment. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach in accurately detecting fruit quality, paving the way for advanced applications in food safety and quality control.

Many communication protocols, especially for wireless sensor networks, have been proposed: Multi-hop transmission protocols, cluster-based protocols (static or dynamic clustering), etc. Several works have shown the impact of these protocols on energy dissipation and load balancing. By analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of different protocols in HWSN (Heterogeneous wireless sensor networks) we have proposed a communication protocol: LBCMH (Load-Balancing based Clustering Multipath routing protocol for Heterogeneous sensor networks in environmental applications (e-applications) with the objectives of a fair distribution of the CHs in the network, the load balancing of the CHs and the self-organization of the nodes in a distributed manner. After having detailed the functioning of our protocol, we present the realization of the simulations by the NS3 simulator, whose objective is to allow us to compare the results of our LBCMH(Load-Balancing based Clustering Multipath routing protocol for HWSN) with the two protocols WBCHN and to assess the efficacy of the proposed LBCMH protocol ((Weight based clustering in wireless sensor networks) [9] and DEACP (Distributed Energy efficient Adaptive Clustering Protocol) [10]. We thus take into account several metrics for the performance evaluation of our contribution. We were able to show through the simulation results obtained that the objectives of our protocol have been reached. © 2021 IEEE.

A flexible anode was developed with graphene nanoplatelet (xGnP) as the anode material for fabricating fast charging lithium-ion battery. The ink consists of xGnP as active material along with C-45 carbon black as conductive additive and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) as binder. The ink was bar coated on to a flexible copper film to form anode. Then the anode was laser patterned to introduce secondary pore network (SPN) consisting of pores with diameter of similar to 75 mu m with an edge-to-edge distance of similar to 70 mu m between the pores. Half-cell lithium-ion batteries was assembled with laser patterned anode and lithium metal foil as counter electrode. Ethylene carbonate and dimethyl carbonate (EC: EDC) in 50/50 (v/v) mixed with 1M lithium hexafluorophosphate (LiPF6) was used as electrolyte in assembled coin-cells. Rate performance was tested for laser patterned electrodes at different current rates. Resultant laser-patterned xGnP electrode delivered enhanced specific capacity of 333 mAh/g when compared to bar-coated electrode without SPN (243 mAh/g) at 6A/g current rate.

The healthcare industry is one of the domains where the Internet of Things (IoT) has made the global impact. By intelligently integrating applications into medical devices, IoT enables the provision of smart and efficient healthcare facilities. Through such sensors, which can be either surgically placed or worn on the body, patients can be monitored continually using the advanced technologies. Such data collection allows for the analysis, mining, and aggregation of information to facilitate early disease prediction. Sophisticated remote health monitoring systems have been developed due to the availability of cheap smart phones and wearable sensors. Even if doctors/pharmacists are unavailable, such health monitoring IoT solutions can be helpful in disease prevention/management and accurate patient diagnosis. In this paper, a novel IoT-based wireless remote health monitoring system for a patient in an indoor environment is presented for monitoring continuous patient vital sign data like temperature and pulse. The collected data is stored on an IoT platform so that only the authorised person can obtain the data. This makes it possible for the doctors to diagnose conditions from the information that has been collected, and this improves the chances of offering effective care at the right time.

Background: Mild cognitive impairment (MCI), also referred to as central neuropathy, is considered a new complication of diabetes. It affects approximately $\mathbf{1 0 - 1 5 \%}$ of diabetic individuals, leading to a conversion from cognitive impairment to dementia in some cases. This research aims to assess the effectiveness of transcranial direct current stimulation in treating cognitive impairment. Materials and Methods: This study is a Pre-post experimental design involving 30 diabetic patients diagnosed with cognitive impairment. The study was conducted from September 2022 to December 2022, with recruitment taking place in the diabetic outpatient department of a tertiary care hospital. 200 patients were initially approached, with 30 meeting the inclusion criteria: 35 to 55 years, HbA1c levels between $\mathbf{6. 0 \%}$ to $\mathbf{8. 0} \%$, Montreal Cognitive Assessment scores below 24, and diabetes duration less than 5 years. The participants underwent various outcome assessments, including the Addenbrooke Cognitive Examination scale, Indian version, Montreal Cognitive Assessment, and Stroop test, at two-time points, 0 to 5 weeks apart, with five weekly sessions. Patients with additional health conditions were excluded to minimize potential confounding factors. Results: The study utilized parametric tests, with Student t-tests for the MoCA score and Stroop test, and Wilcoxon signed-rank tests for the ACE-iii score, a categorical variable. The results showed an increase in the mean ACE-iii score from 42.2 to 48.3, indicating a significant improvement ($\mathbf{p}=\mathbf{0. 0 2}$). Similarly, the mean MoCA score rose from 19.3 to 24.6, showing significant improvement (p=0.03). The mean Stroop test time decreased from 60 seconds ±2 to 8 seconds ±2, demonstrating a significant improvement (p=0.04). Conclusion: The findings suggest that TDCS treatment led to enhancements in memory, visuospatial skills, and concentration. However, there was no notable improvement
