This research introduces the Photonics-Enhanced Embedded Robotic Intelligence Model (PEERIM), an innovative approach that integrates fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors with photonics and deep reinforcement learning (DRL) for advanced robotics applications. Addressing the limitations of current AI models in dynamic and complex environments, PEERIM leverages the rapid data transmission capabilities of photonics to process high-frequency sensor data, enabling real-time decision-making and enhanced automation. The methodology encompasses the development and integration of a variant of the Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) algorithm, tailored to manage the continuous data stream and execute precise, adaptive control. The proposed model has been empirically evaluated, demonstrating a significant improvement in handling real-time sensor data with an average reward of 99.02 and a low average loss of 0.099, indicating robust performance and learning stability. These findings suggest that PEERIM provides a substantial advantage over existing AI-driven robotic systems, offering a scalable solution for a variety of challenging applications. The study’s contributions lay the groundwork for future advancements in autonomous systems, promising a new era of precision and reliability in robotics.

This paper presents the design of a Radio Frequency IDentification antenna (RFID Antenna) in Super-High-Frequency band (SHF Band) radiated at the resonant frequency of 2.45 GHz, simulated with CST Studio electromagnetic simulation software. The patch antenna is a perfect electrical conductor, excited by a coaxial cable with a 50 Ohms impedance. The antenna is designed as a rectangular patch with a U-shaped slot of 35.5 × 26 mm² placed on a Rogers RO4350B substrate, dimension 71 × 47 mm². The antenna has a perfect adaptation and covers a frequency band of 2393.0-2569.5 MHz with a bandwidth of 176.5 MHz. Therefore, this bandwidth is sufficient for industrial applications that use wireless sensor networks for monitoring parameters like: temperature, humidity, and pressure.

Wearable sensor technologies have improved people’s daily lives through their applications in almost every field. sensor technologies of inventive kinds are used in an extensive variety of applications in lifestyle, healthcare, fitness, manufacturing, etc. There have also been crucial issues in making significant improvements to the actual mechanical, electrical, and optical sensing methods mainly in upgrading the precision of identification of wearable sensors to various stimuli. With an extensive study of the basic demands in wearable device technology as of now, the road map becomes clearer for creating greater innovations in the future. This is a review that gives an outline of types of wearable sensors by the score that is utilized in daily life.

This paper proposes a solution for wireless monitoring of concrete structures using batteryless wireless sensor nodes based on UHF RFID technology. The system comprises a reader device and one or more wireless sensor nodes, which are connected to various sensors. The wireless sensor nodes are powered by the reader, and the communication protocol is based on ISO 18000-63. An external chloride sensor is used to gauge the concentration of chloride ions, which indicate the degree of corrosion of the concrete structure. The proposed system eliminates the need for cables or batteries and allows for data collection in hard-to-reach areas. To ensure reliable operation of the system, an automated antenna design methodology has been proposed that utilizes a pixelated structure based on a cross-shaped pattern. The methodology employs an evolutionary algorithm to generate an initial population of antenna designs, which are subjected to electromagnetic simulation using a commercial simulation tool. The performance of the sensor platform was evaluated in concrete blocks, and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach for monitoring concrete structures.

Testing has a prominent role in revealing faults in software based on microservices. One of the most important discussion points in MSAs is the granularity of services, often in different levels of abstraction. Similarly, the granularity of tests in MSAs is reflected in different test types. However, it is challenging to conceptualize how the overall testing architecture comes together when combining testing in different levels of abstraction for microservices. There is no empirical evidence on the overall testing architecture in such microservices implementations. Furthermore, there is a need to empirically understand how the current state of practice resonates with existing best practices on testing. In this study, we mine Github to find different candidate projects for an in-depth, qualitative assessment of their test artifacts. We analyze 16 repositories that use microservices and include various test artifacts. We focus on four projects that use consumer-driven-contract testing. Our results demonstrate how these projects cover different levels of testing. This study (i) drafts a testing architecture including activities and artifacts, and (ii) demonstrates how these align with best practices and guidelines. Our proposed architecture helps the categorization of system and test artifacts in empirical studies of microservices. Finally, we showcase a view of the boundaries between different levels of testing in systems using microservices. © 2022 IEEE.

Edge computing is a growing paradigm where compute resources are provisioned between data sources and the cloud to decrease compute latency from data transfer, lower costs, comply with security policies, and more. Edge systems are as varied as their applications, serving internet services, IoT, and emerging technologies. Due to the tight constraints experienced by many edge systems, research computing testbeds have become valuable tools for edge research and application benchmarking. Current testbed infrastructure, however, fails to properly emulate many important edge contexts leading to inaccurate benchmarking. Institutions with broad interests in edge computing can build testbeds, but prior work suggests that edge testbeds are often application or sensor specific. A general edge testbed should include access to many of the sensors, software, and accelerators on which edge systems rely, while slicing those resources to fit user-defined resource footprints. PROWESS is an edge testbed that answers this challenge. PROWESS provides access across an institution to sensors, compute resources, and software for testing constrained edge applications. PROWESS runs edge workloads as sets of containers with access to sensors and specialized hardware on an expandable cluster of light-weight edge nodes which leverage institutional networks to decrease implementation cost and provide wide access to sensors. We implemented a multi-node PROWESS deployment connected to sensors across Ohio State University's campus. Using three edge-native applications, we demonstrate that PROWESS is simple to configure, has a small resource footprint, scales gracefully, and minimally impacts institutional networks. We also show that PROWESS closely approximates native execution of edge workloads and facilitates experiments that other systems testbeds can not.

The paper deals with the computer systems frequency-dependent components using for processing sensor signals with the possibility of restructuring their characteristics. In the analysis course of second-order transfer functions, formulas were obtained that describe the numerator and denominator coefficients. The issues of stability express analysis and the transition process duration during restructuring are also considered. An example, the theoretical research application is given, which shows the restructuring efficiency on standard equations.

Infra-Red (IR) payloads are used on-board for measuring the thermal/spectral properties of objects. To reduce background and enhance Noise Equivalent Temperature Difference (NeTd), it is required to cool the detector (Focal Plane Assembly-FPA) and associated optics. Linear Sterling Cryo-Coolers are typically used for cooling of FPA. A diode temperature sensor is used to sense the cold tip (FPA) temperature. Long/Medium Wave Infra-Red sensors(LWIR/MIR) require tighter control of FPA temperature (Better than 15 mK (mili-Kelvin)). Since Diode sensor has a small output dynamic range of ∼500 mV (0.6 V to 1.1 V), therefore achieving stringent control is dependent on precise performance of design blocks (low noise current bias, high resolution temperature processing and PID Controller). Design of Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller plays a very crucial role in overall performance. Overshoot, settling time and stability are affected by PID design. Cooler Drive Electronics (CDE) is used to implement these functions. Truncation losses in a typical implementation of FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) based PID Controller leads to higher ripple. A Micro-controller based floating point PID controller is proposed to overcome these issues, thus enhancing the functionality to provide tighter control of Cooler temperature. In this paper we have discussed design and development of a Floating Point PID controller. A prototype (Enhanced CDE) was developed and tested in close loop with the peripheral sub-systems (Cryo-Cooler, Front End Camera Electronics(FECE), and Payload Power Supply(PPS» to demonstrate performance in actual payload environment. Short Term temperature stability of 10mK RMS (Root Mean Square) and Long Term temperature stability of 75mK (Peak to Peak) for Cryo-Cooler is achieved against the requirements of © 2023 IEEE.

More security is required for the newly emerging wireless adhoc network technologies. The development and testing of prototypes under blackhole attack mitigation is demonstrated in this work. The hardware model enables data transfer between PCs, laptops, and mobile devices in both indoor and outdoor environments. The system consists of five nodes, each of which is wirelessly connected to the others via ESP32 boards that have been programmed using the Arduino IDE. The hardware prototype was tested, and the data size was changed to measure the packet delivery time.

In recent years, photovoltaic power generation, as one of the most important modes of clean energy generation, has gradually become the focus of China's energy development efforts. The Jiuquan area in Gansu, with good solar radiation conditions, high light intensity and high solar power generation potential, is an ideal area for building solar photovoltaic power generation farms. However, as the photovoltaic panels(PV panels) are exposed to the outdoors for a long time, the surface of the panels tend to accumulate a layer of dust, which makes it difficult for the sunlight to shine directly on the power generation area, seriously reducing the actual power generation efficiency of the panels, and at the same time, the 'heat island effect' caused by the dust may lead to damage of the panels. In this paper, a PV dust monitoring system is designed to solve the problem of low efficiency of PV power generation system caused by dust. The first part introduces the background, purpose and significance of the research, introduces the current status of domestic and international research, and states the main research work of this topic;the second part introduces the basic theory of PV power generation system and the effect of dust on PV power generation system;the third part introduces the design scheme of the system from the perspective of hardware and software;the fourth part introduces the specific implementation scheme of the system. This paper provides a solution to monitor the dust accumulation on the surface of PV panels, and provides support for the prediction of power generation and the recommendation of the cleaning cycle of PV panels. © 2021 IEEE.
