Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are of great importance in advanced technologies in the modern developing world as they are widely used in many applications. Although encryption and authentication protocols in WSNs are widely adopted, there are continuous expectations of new sophisticated attack strategies that are spreading, which pose high risks and threats. This work addresses these challenges using Intrusion Detection systems (IDS) that will be supported by machine learning algorithms. Specifically, it explores the WSN-DS dataset that includes network activities and attack types. In addition, it initializes the importance of feature selection and proposes data balancing methods such as Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique SMOTE, it is a statistical method for correcting class imbalance in datasets by creating synthetic samples for the minority class to enhance the detection rate. To increase the performance of the machine learning model, we use a voting classifier consisting of Random Forest (RF), K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) and Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) and optimize them using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) by selecting the best hyperparameters. This ensemble method aims to maximize the performance of the used ensemble models. The proposed model is demonstrated by improving the PSO voting classifier model which gives a remarkable accuracy of 99.99% making it a highly effective approach in predicting and filtering different types of attacks in wireless sensor networks. This work will help in promoting further research in protecting wireless sensor networks from invasive intrusions in various applications to ensure security in communication networks.

This paper explores the paradigm of Collaborative Perception (CP), where multiple robots and sensors in the environment share and integrate sensor data to construct a comprehensive representation of the surroundings. By aggregating data from various sensors and utilizing advanced algorithms, the collaborative perception framework improves task efficiency, coverage, and safety. Two case studies are presented to showcase the benefits of collaborative perception in multi-robot systems. The first case study illustrates the benefits and advantages of using CP for the task of household cleaning with a team of cleaning robots. The second case study performs a comparative analysis of the performance of CP versus Standalone Perception (SP) for Autonomous Mobile Robots operating in a warehouse environment. The case studies validate the effectiveness of CP in enhancing multi-robot coordination, task completion, and overall system performance and its potential to impact operations in other applications as well. Future investigations will focus on optimizing the framework and validating its performance through empirical testing.

This paper introduces an innovative and budget-friendly IoT-based facial recognition system tailored for attendance tracking and intruder detection, leveraging the power of Raspberry Pi. By utilizing the Local Binary Pattern Histogram (LBPH) algorithm, the system achieves remarkable accuracy and quick response times, outperforming traditional methods like Fisher-Face. It integrates real-time face detection with instant alerts to bolster security measures. The system not only automates attendance records, updating them in real time and sending them via email, but also identifies unrecognized individuals, capturing their images and notifying authorities promptly. Designed with cost efficiency in mind, it operates on low power and uses readily available components, such as an external camera and a PIR sensor for motion detection. This practical solution is particularly well-suited for use in hostels, schools, industrial facilities, and other environments requiring secure, contactless systems. Future plans for enhancement include incorporating advanced features like liveness detection, expanding the dataset for higher accuracy, and upgrading the hardware for improved portability and seamless IoT integration. These upgrades aim to position the system as a cutting-edge tool for modern surveillance needs.

Shrinking optical components and systems without compromising performance has been a challenge. New sensors and components are developing the methodology in research advanced multiple configuration systems. The effect of system evaluated criteria that Modulation Transfer Function (Modulation Transfer Function, the MTF), Energy concentration (Radial Energy Analysis, REA), diffusion (Spot Diagram, RMS) can support our issue qualitatively. Results showed that can not only change systems weight, size and structural stability, but also increase freedom in these kinds design.

The evolution of Internet of Things (IoT) promotes patient’s monitoring and diagnose is tremendously. A wireless sensors of minute size are implanted into the victim’s body to measure physiological parameters such as heart rate, glucose level etc continuously. The nodes present inside Wireless sensor Networks (WSN) are monitored through the internet. So, it is much prone to the wearable devices being overwhelmed and accessed by an unauthorized user as a result of its physical nature. The physiological information of an individual is highly emotional. Therefore, security is considered as a vital requirement for healthcare applications notably if a patient struggles from a severe disease. Thus, Light Weight Cryptography (LWC) encryption schemes were introduced as a primitive measure to secure the required data from threats. The essential requirements of LWC algorithm are reduced area, power consumption, high security, and efficient Processing. In this work, AES (advanced Encryption Standard) algorithm with Decoder -Switch - Encoder (DSE) - Substitution (S) box technique are used followed by modular inverse and affine transformation process for high security and smaller area. Furthermore, pipelining, branch parallel operations and loop unrolling are also utilized for efficient processing.

With recent advances in autonomous driving, voice control systems have become increasingly adopted as human-vehicle interaction methods. This technology enables drivers to use voice commands to control the vehicle and will be soon available in advanced Driver Assistance systems (ADAS). Prior work has shown that Siri, Alexa and Cortana, are highly vulnerable to inaudible command attacks. This could be extended to ADAS in real-world applications and such an inaudible command threat is difficult to detect due to microphone nonlinearities. In this paper, we aim to develop a more practical solution by using camera views to defend against inaudible command attacks where ADAS are capable of detecting their environment via multi-sensors. To this end, we propose a novel multimodal deep learning classification system to defend against inaudible command attacks. Our experimental results confirm the feasibility of the proposed defense methods and the best classification accuracy reaches 89.2%. In the optical parity-time-symmetry systems, at certain values of their parameters, a phase transition from real eigenvalues of the Hamiltonian to the complex ones is observed. This phase transition, which can be directly or indirectly caused by a change in the measured physical quantity, leads to a sharp change in the optical properties of the system. This can be used to improve the accuracy of various optical sensors, in particular, angular rate sensors. Present communication is devoted to the analysis of previously announced and newly developed by the authors methods for measuring angular rates based on the use of the optical parity-time-symmetry systems. In particular, various variations of laser gyroscopes based on the systems of two identical coupled ring resonators that differ from each other only in the level of losses and gain are considered. We propose a new method for measuring the angular rate, based on the use of a parity-time-symmetry system of two straight coupled waveguides with a passive ring resonator connected to it.

Modern trends in advanced data communications lead to many improvements in the wireless sensor network (WSN) deployment. Sensing the data from the different environments is necessary to monitor and control the applications. It needs to organize a sufficient number of sensor nodes. In WSN, the small-sized sensor node is working with a very small battery with limited energy. Replacing the battery or recharging the battery is not feasible. So, the energy-efficient operation of WSN is the key factor. Many researchers have proposed WSN protocols for enhancing the lifetime and optimize the energy of WSN. In this paper, the performance of energy-efficient Algorithms like LEACH, PEGASIS, SEP, DDEEC, EESAA, IAATPC and EESCA are compared. Based on the simulation carried in MATLAB, the stability period of EESCA is enhanced by approximately 45%, 50% and network lifetime 44%, 65% as compared to LEACH and PEGASIS protocols respectively.

With the increasing reliance on air conditioning systems for indoor comfort and climate control, innovative approaches are imperative to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and extend equipment lifespan. This study presents a comprehensive investigation into a real-time air conditioning unit monitoring system integrated with advanced analytics for predictive maintenance. Using wireless sensor networks and different learning algorithms, the advanced system is capable of collecting real-time data, including temperature, vibration, voltage and current flow from air conditioning (AC) units. It addresses problems in monitoring and performing maintenance late or excessively early in AC units. In the study, a comprehensive look at different predictive analytical algorithms is carefully identified and evaluated. The result is a system with a graphical user interface for displaying current value parameters and predictive insights. By combining these technologies, maintenance is kept to a minimum, the life of the equipment is lengthened, and continuity is ensured. This feature will significantly lessen the delay and hassle in manual monitoring of AC units in FAITH Colleges and other schools and establishments where the system may be deemed applicable and necessary. The integration of real-time monitoring with predictive analytics sets a new benchmark for AC unit maintenance, pushing the frontier of smart home and industrial applications.

This study proposes an effective measurement of aspheric surfaces using arcuate region scanning method by 2D laser displacement sensor. In a global coordinate system, the point cloud data of each arcuate region in aspheric surface are obtained successively, coordinated with the rotation of the rotating platform and the transverse movement of the 2D laser displacement sensor in a fixed step size. When scanning different areas, it is necessary to calculate the scanning angle gap and included angle according to different scanning length of arc. Then the aspheric surface error could be calculated through the reconstruction consequence. It can be used for in-situ measurement in the processing stage of aspheric mirrors. We present an experiment compared with the measurement results of PGI to verify the validity of this measurement method. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
