Indonesia is well known as a country that relies on agricultural sector as the main source of livelihood. Over time, the management of agricultural products has evolved towards more advanced conventional practices, incorporating new technologies. Therefore, this research examined the measurement process of soil pH, soil moisture, and identification of fertilizer requirements through a scanning system equipped with color sensors integrated into the PadiSense mobile applications. The purposive sampling method with a pH sensor and instrument measurement of 6.4 percent and 7.5 percent were used to conduct this research. The pH sensor-based measurement yielded an average pH of 7.6 percent and within the Neutral scale, meeting the criteria for optimal rice growth and development. The results obtained from measuring soil moisture proved optimal for the growth of rice stems, with an average of 71.7 percent to 74.1 percent at a minimal measurement error of 0.047 percent. In conclusion, the requirements for nitrogen were identified using color sensors, which showed the BWD scale, with an average measurement corresponding to BWD 4.

This work presents a screen-printed LC resonant tank-based strain sensor. The resonant tank consists of a planar inductor and an interdigitated capacitor connected in parallel. The inductor was screen printed on flexible polyamide substrate and the capacitor is printed on the piezoelectric Poly-L-lactide (PLLA) nanofibers obtained by electrospinning. The resonant frequency of the tank is tuned for similar to 13.56 MHz. The inductors and capacitors were characterized using an impedance analyzer to evaluate the frequency characteristic of both. As the interdigitated capacitor is realized on a piezoelectric substrate the permittivity and hence the capacitance varies with the application of dynamic pressure. For the dynamic pressure, less than 2 kPa the sensitivity S-1 is 8.55 kPa(-1). The sensitivities in the range of 2-4 kPa(-1) and 4-7 kPa(-1) are calculated as S-2 = 31.27 kPa(-1) and S-3 = 8.61 kPa(-1) respectively. The fabricated flexible sensor shows the potential for wearable applications such as sub-bandage pressure monitoring while also exploiting the piezoelectric properties of PLLA to accelerate the wound healing through electrical stimulation.

MEMS based IMU sensors are very popular for its small size, low-cost and low power consumption. However, for accurate and precise data collection, proper calibration of IMU is compulsory. In this paper we have proposed a technique for both static and dynamic calibration of IMU sensor. We have developed a simple low-cost setup and used least square (LS) fit and ellipsoidal fit algorithm for static calibration and further incorporated Unscented Kalman filter (UKF) for dynamic calibration. The accelerometer is calibrated using 108 position data for three axis and gyroscope is calibrated using specially designed low-cost setup with LS algorithm whereas for magnetometer calibration, ellipsoidal fitting algorithm is used. Accordingly, all the calibration parameters like bias factor, scale factor and misalignment for accelerometer; bias factor, scale factor and non-orthogonality for gyroscope; Offset, gain and cross-gain for magnetometer are obtained. Moreover, for dynamic models like real-time or sensor fusion applications, the UKF (Unscented Kalman filter) based algorithm is proposed to obtain the calibration parameters dynamically.

Recently, rehabilitation robotics has demonstrated the ability to improve the methodologies significantly. Robotic devices can provide accuracy, repeatability, high-dose and task-specific training, and real-time feedback. These features are essential in rehabilitation, focusing on the upper limb and the wrist, as a joint needed to perform most activities of daily living (ADLs) and thus crucial to maintaining a high quality of life. This is particularly important considering the demand for effective rehabilitation solutions due to frequent motor impairments related to neurological or orthopedic issues. This review focuses on robotic devices for wrist rehabilitation, exploring their characteristics with an eye toward significant and appealing features for commercialization. We explored relevant features of these devices such as a robust and human-centered mechanical design, an appropriate actuation system, and an advanced sensor network integrated with a sophisticated control architecture to monitor and optimize human-machine interactions. We considered usability factors as ergonomics, ease of use, and adaptability to the needs of different users, for clinical applications and broad market adoption. This work reviews existing robotic devices for wrist rehabilitation, comparing their key features to evaluate the current state of the field. It aims to identify which devices best meet the necessary criteria and highlight issues that still require further engineering research.

The early diagnosis of myocardial infarction can significantly improve the survival rate in clinical medicine, therefore the high-sensitivity detection of myocardial infarction biomarkers, such as cardiac troponin (cTn), is very important. In this work, a thin-wall microtubule whispering gallery mode (WGM) cavity biosensor to detect myocardial infarction biomarker has been achieved. The thin-wall microtubule WGM cavity is simply fabricated by tapering the silica capillary with oxyhydrogen flame and pressurization. Using the self-polymerization effect of dopamine, the antibody is modified on the inner wall of the microtubule cavity to achieve specific capture of the cardiac troponin I-C (cTnI-C) complex protein. Moreover, by introducing the WGM microtubule cavity into the erbium-doped fiber ring cavity (FRC), the lasing wavelength can be utilized for the label-free detection of the myocardial infarction biomarker. The proposed WGM microtubule cavity biosensor with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.134 ng/mL, has advantages of inherent microfluidic channel, label-free detection and low LOD, making itself a potential sensing platform in early diagnosis of heart disease.

Muscle Activity is one of the most important signals in analysis of human movement. Commonly, optical, or inertial measurement systems are paired with electromyography (EMG) electrodes to provide an information suite for analysing human movement. In many applications in uncontrolled conditions, EMG signal acquisition may be challenging due to perspiration, changing skin impedance or the need for a reference signal. A complementary muscle monitoring modality that has been shown to overcome some of the limitations of EMG is mechanomyography (MMG), which measures the vibrations of muscle fibres during contraction. In this work, we show that MMG combined with data from an inertial measurement unit (IMU) in a novel sensing suite can be used in monitoring muscle activity during common gait activities. Data were collected from a cohort of 9 volunteers. MMG-IMU movement profiles are presented for cyclic movements e.g., walking, or ascending stairs and noncyclic movements e.g., standing up or sitting down. A multi day study was conducted which demonstrates that data collected over several days can be used to generate a general movement profile. Average correlation for leave-one-out analysis between 4 days and a 5th day was found to be 90% for sitting down motion and 64% for standing up motion. Lastly, MMG-IMU sensor fusion was shown to be well suited for classification of daily movement using Support Vector Machines. With the addition of MMG muscle data increasing classification accuracy by 3%, from 91% for IMU to 94% for MMG-IMU.

Traditional methods of monitoring vital signs in vehicles often fall short when it comes to response time, especially in fast-moving situations. To tackle this, our paper introduces a groundbreaking solution: leveraging millimeter-wave radar technology to monitor vital signs in real time within the vehicle, providing timely alerts when necessary. This approach not only enhances the accuracy of readings but also ensures a swift response that is crucial during vehicle operation. By tapping into the unique abilities of millimeter-wave radar to detect subtle human signs, we propose a novel method that processes radar signals to monitor vital signs like heart rate and respiratory rate. This technique is highly effective in meeting the stringent demands of real-time accuracy and speed, especially while driving. Our system includes three main components: radar sensors, a signal processing unit, and an early-warning control module, working together seamlessly to ensure optimal monitoring. The radar sensor continuously transmits and receives millimeter-wave signals, allowing it to track vital signs without interruption. A specially designed feature extraction algorithm filters out noise and extracts critical information, including heart and respiratory rates. Then, advanced algorithms analyze this data in real time, spotting any abnormalities and triggering alerts through the control module. What sets this system apart is its rigorous testing under various vehicle speeds and environmental conditions, confirming its stability, reliability, and fast response times. In real-world applications, the system responds to a high heart rate in 3.7 to 4.0 seconds and to a rapid breathing rate in 4.1 to 4.3 seconds. This millimeter-wave radar-based system offers a fresh approach to vehicle safety, combining practicality with promising future potential.

Nowadays, technology has been developed to assist farmers in spraying pesticides. This research aims to design a low-cost drone that can spray pesticides on plants. The drone implemented is a type of hexacopter made of aluminium material with dimensions of 1130 mm and is controlled by Pixhawk. The drone moves using six propellers, each 15x5.5 inches in size, mounted on the Sunnysky X4112S 485 KV brushless motor. The drone can be flown manually and autonomously with several motion modes such as hover, roll, pitch, and yaw. For drone stability, a PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) controller was applied. Additionally, the Hexacopter is equipped with an ul- trasonic sensor to maintain a position of 1–2 meters above the tree. The drone has been tested and can fly for 7 minutes and 2 seconds without a load and for a maximum of 3 minutes and 48 seconds with a full tank of water, using a 6S 6200 mAh LiPo battery.
