The increasing reliance on lithium-ion batteries in manufacturing necessitates advanced monitoring techniques to ensure their longevity and reliability. Cloud technology offers a solution by enabling real-time data collection, analysis, and accessibility, facilitating thorough monitoring and predictive maintenance. Digital twin technology, creating a virtual replica of the physical battery system, provides a platform for simulating real-world conditions and predicting potential issues before they arise. By integrating sensor data and historical usage patterns, the digital twin model can accurately predict battery degradation, aiding in timely maintenance strategies. This proactive approach enhances battery operational efficiency and extends lifespan, leading to cost savings and improved safety. The paper explores using cloud-based monitoring systems to enhance the health estimation and management of lithium-ion batteries. A comprehensive feasibility study on adopting battery digital twin technology for electric two-wheeler and three-wheeler manufacturers examines creating a digital twin model for batteries and validating corresponding tests. Furthermore, the research discusses the technical challenges and solutions associated with implementing digital twin technology in manufacturing. Key metrics such as state of charge (SoC) and state of health (SoH) are analyzed to showcase the effectiveness of the digital twin model in real-world applications. © 2025 SAE International. When developing an algorithm, data from sensors is often assumed to be perfect. However, sensors can fail, and a robustness function test alone may not be enough to convince customers to use a black-box in a critical durable system, because it doesn't take into account the impact of a wrong decision made by the black-box algorithm. A risk evaluation method has been proposed to assess the negative impact caused by sensor failure when using a black-box. The identification and quantification of sensor failures and risks are incorporated into the assessment process. This method has been proven useful through a case study of an access gate, where it was used to rank the importance of each sensor for the operator.

Currently, intelligent algorithms are widely used in the field of image processing to reduce the impact of fog on images. Surgical imaging systems are medical imaging devices used in surgical operations. With the continuous improvement of medical imaging technology and the application of advanced intelligent algorithms in medical devices, laparoscopic surgery is increasingly replacing traditional open surgery. However, due to the difference in temperature inside and outside the abdomen, lens fogging during laparoscopic surgery can affect the surgical field of view and interfere with the surgical process. The intelligent temperature balance control system, as a new technology, aims to improve the imaging field of view at different temperatures by combining hardware design with intelligent imaging algorithms. However, there is currently no evidence in the literature to support the anti-fog effect of surgical imaging systems equipped with this function. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the advantages of surgical imaging systems equipped with the intelligent temperature balance control algorithm in clinical applications through comparative testing experiments and the use of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) tools and methods. © 2023 SPIE.

Fiber-based supercapacitors (F-SCs) have inspired wide-spread interest in the fields of wearable technology, energy, and carbon neutralization due to their highly deformable flexibility, fast charging/ discharging capability, long-term stability, and energy conservation ability. In this review, we summarize the latest developments for fabricating fibrous electrodes of F-SCs where advanced micro two-dimensional (2D) building blocks (e.g., Mxene and graphene) are chemically assembled and constructed into ordered mesofibers and multifunctional macrofabrics. Diverse fundamental principles of 2D hybrid nanosheets with respect to surface controls, pseudocapacitive modifications, and microstructural manipulations, promoting rapid electron transfer and charge conduction, are introduced. Additionally, various spinning methods for assembling and fabricating sophisticated fibers with advanced nano/microstructures, including hierarchical skeletons, anisotropic backbones, surface/entire porous frameworks, and vertical-aligned networks, for boosting ionic kinetic transport/storage are presented. Likewise, the structure???activity relationships between the porous structure and electrochemical performance are clarified. Moreover, multifunctional fabrics in terms of high flexibilities/strengths, superior electrical conductivities, and stabilized operations, which realize large energy density, deformable capability, and robust stability under harsh conditions, are emphasized. In particular, the potential power-supply applications, including flexible electronic devices, self-powered functions, and energy-sensor systems, are highlighted. Jamming Attacks and Anti-Jamming Strategies in Wireless Networks: A Comprehensive Survey

Wireless networks are a key component of the telecommunications infrastructure in our society, and wireless services become increasingly important as the applications of wireless devices have penetrated every aspect of our lives. Although wireless technologies have significantly advanced in the past decades, most wireless networks are still vulnerable to radio jamming attacks due to the openness nature of wireless channels, and the progress in the design of jamming-resistant wireless networking systems remains limited. This stagnation can be attributed to the lack of practical physical-layer wireless technologies that can efficiently decode data packets in the presence of jamming attacks. This article surveys existing jamming attacks and anti-jamming strategies in wireless local area networks (WLANs), cellular networks, cognitive radio networks (CRNs), ZigBee networks, Bluetooth networks, vehicular networks, LoRa networks, RFID networks, GPS system, millimeter-wave (mmWave) and learning-assisted wireless systems, with the objective of offering a comprehensive knowledge landscape of existing jamming and anti-jamming strategies and therefore stimulating more research efforts to secure wireless networks against jamming attacks. Different from prior survey papers, this article conducts a comprehensive, in-depth review on jamming and anti-jamming strategies, casting insights on the design of jamming-resilient wireless networking systems. An outlook on promising anti-jamming techniques is offered at the end of this article to delineate important research directions.

In high-performance applications, a constant increase of power densities in electrical machines leads to a proportional rise in temperature, which significantly affects its performance and life expectancy. To reduce the temperature rise impact on processing performance, usually, a cooling system will be equipped on the high-power density electrical machine, which can take away the heat in time keeping the machines in the best temperature range. The idea of this paper: primarily is to analyze the heating and heat transfer of stators of electrical machines, consecutively employ parameters in different operating conditions;by using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation to find the thermal parameters of the cooling system. Based on the simulation, the influence of the cooling channel position on the cooling effect is evaluated, which provides a reference for the design of the stator. Also, the impact of the coolant flow on the cooling effect was analyzed. The simulation results are compared with the theoretical calculation results. Some enhancements of heat exchange within cooling tube are adopted. The cooling effect un-der different designs is analyzed and evaluated based on several established performance criteria. © 2024 SPIE.

DNNs are deployed in mission critical applications such as object detection in autonomous vehicles (AVs). Ensuring the reliability of detections made by these models plays an essential role in robustness and practicality of these systems. By analyzing traditional object detectors, we observe a significant number of objects being missed by the detector, which is a problem for safe deployment of AVs. Traditionally, sensor fusion wherein detections from multiple sensors (camera, LiDAR, etc.) are combined to create a robust detection system is utilized, but suffers from high cost and computing overheads. To attack this seemingly necessary tradeoff, we propose SoftFusion in this paper. SoftFusion introduces the concept of intra-sensor fusion wherein a diversity of inputs is synthesized during runtime and can be efficiently evaluated by the original object detector. The predictions are then intelligently combined to realize robust detections over the baseline detector but at a fraction of the cost of traditional fusion. SoftFusion is evaluated across 7 different benchmarks over 2 different datasets, and is shown to achieve 3.45% gain in average precision with less than 23% latency overhead. As context for these results, prior research demonstrates that hard fusion of camera and LiDAR provides on average 4.02% gain in average precision in similar tasks with an overhead of approximately up to 2x computation.

In order to realize the real-time on-line monitoring of motor rotor temperature, a fiber Bragg grating(FBG) temperature sensing system using fiber optic rotary joint to transmit signals was built. The effects of the acceleration of the rotor and the mounting angle of the sensors chain on the central wavelength of the FBG were studied. The temperature measurement test of a rotating shaft was carried out. The following conclusions can be drawn. The central wavelength variation of the FBG is related to the linear acceleration of the rotor surface, the density and thickness of the grating coating. For the rotor whose surface linear acceleration is within 100m/s2, when the thickness of the coating is within 100μm, the effect of acceleration on the center wavelength of the polyimide-coated or gold-coated FBG can be ignored. For the motors with higher linear acceleration, in order to prevent the impact on the temperature measurement accuracy, the angle between the FBG sensors chain and the rotating shaft is preferably controlled within 20°. For the motors with lower linear acceleration, the installation angle can be compromised according to the rotor surface structure. The experiment shows that the FBG temperature measurement system can run stably and measure the temperature change accurately during the variable speed process of the rotor. Compared with other rotor temperature measurement systems, the FBG temperature measurement system has a simple composition, and the sensors chain is light and small. It is a very promising rotor temperature monitoring system. © 2023 SPIE.
