This paper proposes a new motor field-oriented control scheme for robot joint control that utilizes linear Hall position sensors. The proposed position sensor can obtain rotor position information of the motor with high precision and low cost, overcoming the limitations of traditional motor control systems that use expensive and bulky encoders. The proposed plan includes a Hall sensor module, an electromagnetic detection module, a motor drive module, and a motor. It has been tested and verified using Ansys magnetic field simulation. The proposed system can improve the accuracy and stability of robot joint control while reducing costs compared to traditional motor Field-Oriented Control (FOC) systems. Using linear Hall position sensors can make the system more compact and lightweight. Future work may focus on further optimizing and refining the design for real-world applications.

Super-Resolution Electrochemical Impedance Imaging With a 512 x 256 CMOS sensor Array

Super-resolution imaging is a family of techniques in which multiple lower-resolution images can be merged to produce a single image at higher resolution. While super-resolution is often applied to optical systems, it can also be used with other imaging modalities. Here we demonstrate a 512 x 256 CMOS sensor array for micro-scale super-resolution electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (SR-EIS) imaging. The system is implemented in standard 180 nm CMOS technology with a 10 mu m x 10 mu m pixel size. The sensor array is designed to measure the mutual capacitance between programmable sets of pixel pairs. Multiple spatially-resolved impedance images can then be computationally combined to generate a super-resolution impedance image. We use finite-element electrostatic simulations to support the proposed measurement approach and discuss straightforward algorithms for super-resolution image reconstruction. We present experimental measurements of sub-cellular permittivity distribution within single green algae cells, showing the sensor's capability to produce microscale impedance images with sub-pixel resolution.

Due to its extensive use in intelligent transportation systems, the topic of traffic accident detection is quickly becoming one of the most fascinating ones. The absence of inexperienced drivers, driving while intoxicated, driving too fast, and driving while sleepy are the main contributors to these traffic accidents. Numerous measures have been used to stop these traffic accidents. However, the majority of them failed to stop this. We demonstrate an upgraded Li-Fi accident detection method in this study. The proposed model offers an intelligent system for the identification and avoid of accidents for the protection of human life. sensors like mems sensors and ultrasonic sensors are used in that preventative component. When a sensor determines there is not enough space between two vehicles, it notifies the vehicle in front of it. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents a novel finite-time complementary filter specifically designed for attitude and gyroscope bias estimation. The key contributions of this filter include ensuring rapid convergence to the actual attitude within a finite time, significantly improving performance over traditional filters that only guarantee asymptotic stability. The filter achieves high accuracy by effectively integrating data from multiple sensors, such as gyroscopes, accelerometers, and magnetometers, through advanced sensor fusion algorithms and noise suppression techniques. Additionally, simulation tests confirm the filter's robust resistance to noise, highlighting its potential to enhance the performance of attitude estimation systems across various applications by providing faster, more accurate, and reliable estimates. © 2024 IEEE.

applications that involve subsurface characterization and monitoring such as landslide detection or geotechnical condition monitoring typically require continuous and high-quality geoscience data to be collected from remote areas where sampling frequency and power consumption pose major challenges. New advanced platforms are required which seamlessly blend accuracy, affordability, and practicality in sensor data collection and transfer. Here, we introduce and evaluate an agnostic platform, tailored for proficient data acquisition via its four-channel differential analog-to-digital converters (ADC), thereby enabling the integration of four sensors with differential outputs for comprehensive data collection. Utilizing the ESP32 Wemos board as its cornerstone CPU, the platform presents a dual-faceted capability to efficiently stream geoscience data to the cloud where signal strength is sufficient, safeguarding data integrity and providing near-real-time accessibility, and to store it locally when the site does not allow connectivity. Surpassing current systems, this platform delivers a sampling rate of 3.2 kHz samples per second (800 samples per second per channel) and provides a robust bandwidth response critical for geotechnical monitoring, while maintaining a highly cost-effective production framework for scalable monitoring. The platform's utility is validated through its application in subsurface ground characterization, employing the Nakamura method to determine initial layer depths and then monitoring through time to analyze property changes related to ground saturation, a primary catalyst for slope instabilities. The findings demonstrate the devised platform as a potent, economically viable tool, promising substantial applicability across various research domains necessitating precise data capture and transmission.

Acoustic wave-based devices have attracted greater attention, particularly in the aerospace and bio-medical fields due to their passive and wireless capabilities. Interdigital transducer (IDT) is an integral part of the SHM wave-based sensor, as it transmits information about the structural state. Additionally, embedding the electrodes inside the piezoelectric substrate increases the acoustic coupling and protects the electrodes from potential external damage. This paper uses numerical analysis to discuss sensor responses with different IDT layouts in both frequency and time domains. The results investigate each type's sensitivity towards mechanical strains and figure of merit, which facilitates the development of an efficient embedded electrode sensor through advanced additive manufacturing techniques.

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are of great importance in advanced technologies in the modern developing world as they are widely used in many applications. Although encryption and authentication protocols in WSNs are widely adopted, there are continuous expectations of new sophisticated attack strategies that are spreading, which pose high risks and threats. This work addresses these challenges using Intrusion Detection systems (IDS) that will be supported by machine learning algorithms. Specifically, it explores the WSN-DS dataset that includes network activities and attack types. In addition, it initializes the importance of feature selection and proposes data balancing methods such as Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique SMOTE, it is a statistical method for correcting class imbalance in datasets by creating synthetic samples for the minority class to enhance the detection rate. To increase the performance of the machine learning model, we use a voting classifier consisting of Random Forest (RF), K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) and Extreme Gradient Boosting (xGBoost) and optimize them using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) by selecting the best hyperparameters. This ensemble method aims to maximize the performance of the used ensemble models. The proposed model is demonstrated by improving the PSO voting classifier model which gives a remarkable accuracy of 99.99% making it a highly effective approach in predicting and filtering different types of attacks in wireless sensor networks. This work will help in promoting further research in protecting wireless sensor networks from invasive intrusions in various applications to ensure security in communication networks. © 2024 IEEE.

A large number of factors may influence the performance of thermal surveillance systems used in any given scenario. Highly accurate predictions of acquisition range for a sensor therefore requires the access to specialized numerical tools with a large number of input parameters. At the other hand, simple range estimations with acceptable accuracy can be made for situations of ideal conditions by applying the Johnson Criteria. However, such an approach completely ignores the effect of low signal contrast and atmospheric attenuation and would therefore be unsuited for many real-world scenarios. This work proposes an alternative method, of medium accuracy and complexity, for estimating the acquisition range of thermal sensors. It relies on the well-known concept of Minimum Resolvable Temperature Difference (MRTD), and the method represents the MRTD information for a given sensor by a parametric curve. The form of the parametric curve is chosen so that the observation range can be estimated from a simple second-order equation. The new method has several advantages. First, uncertainties in calculated acquisition range can easily be estimated based on input parameter uncertainties. Secondly, linear approximations can be made for classes of scenarios by making specific assumptions about thermal contrast and atmospheric attenuation. Thirdly, the method can form the basis for a more generalised solver that can handle an even wider range of scenarios. In this work, the new method called Parameterised MRTD (PMRTD) is outlined. Linear approximations to the solutions are derived. In addition, the solution for relevant examples are shown and discussed.

Recognizing actions from dynamic images is vital for numerous real-world applications, encompassing areas such as surveillance, autonomous vehicles, and human-computer interaction. However, current machine vision systems rely on complex circuits and algorithms. Here, we demonstrate an insect-inspired compact neural network with only one synaptic layer for in-sensor recognizing actions. MoS2 phototransistor can perceive and nonlinearly manipulate temporal information. With 20x20 phototransistor arrays, we have realized in-sensor compressing dynamic vision with >99% recognizing accuracy.

The integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technology and medical devices in healthcare is termed the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT). This advancement holds promise for numerous applications aimed at mitigating the risk of loss of life through physiological signal monitoring. As the number of road accidents is rapidly increasing, a substantial number of car crashes occur due to medical conditions. Therefore, the need remains to develop an effective solution to enable the prevention of such accidents for enhanced road safety. Unlike existing approaches, this paper proposes a holistic IoMT-based non-invasive driver health monitoring system (DHMS) to monitor important vital signs for detecting abnormal health conditions. The proposed system consists of an embedded system, edge computing, cloud computing, and a mobile application with an alert system, to offer an end-to-end unified solution for driver physiological signal monitoring to detect abnormal health conditions that might lead to a road accident. The system is particularly suited to aid (elderly) people with medical conditions and can also be used for public transport to ensure passenger safety. A detailed experimental evaluation of the proposed system has been performed and its performance accuracy compared with standard medical devices, along with quality factors including usability, portability, and effective sensor placement.
