Spatial structured light (SL) enables three-dimensional measurements in a single shot by projecting patterns with coded information. However, conventional structured light systems typically employ a digital light processing projector (DLP) to project specific light patterns or coded patterns onto the surface of the object under examination. This reliance on projectors limits the miniaturization potential of such structured light systems, thereby hindering their suitability for industrial applications. The main contributions of the work in this paper include: 1) We introduce a novel and practical depth-aware miniature solution for smart terminals that employs a diffractive optical element (DOE) instead of a digital projector to project coded patterns. 2) We propose a one-dimensional SL pattern generation method that is successfully etched onto a DOE. 3) In contrast to traditional image processing techniques, all crucial steps in the pattern decoding process, such as corner detection and block recognition, are executed using deep learning methods, ensuring heightened robustness in real-world applications. The experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2023 IEEE.

Performance evaluation, as a crucial component of Quality of Service (QoS), holds significant importance for modern storage systems. Previous machine learning-based methods ignore the varied improvements in the model after applying different datasets for training. Suboptimized random sampling methods may lead to the collection of unnecessary training data, resulting in excessively high dataset construction costs. This problem becomes more pronounced when there are constraints on the sampling and storage system resources. In this paper, we propose Speal, Storage System Performance Evaluator with Active Learning, which utilizes machine learning to predict the performance of the workload running on the storage system. We present a straightforward yet highly effective active learning algorithm called E2 sampling, employed during the model construction phase to reduce the cost of training dataset acquisition. Furthermore, we apply Speal to the storage system to facilitate bandwidth control and optimize performance. In our experiments using performance data collected from the real storage system, Speal exhibits up to 1.75x reduction in prediction error compared to other active learning algorithms. Additionally, implementing the bandwidth control enhanced by Speal's performance evaluation to the storage system leads to an average throughput improvement of up to 1.51x and a reduction in tail latency by up to 1.71x, surpassing the baseline.

The high growth in the number of automobiles has raised the demand of enhanced driver and passenger safety measures. The goal being effective and efficient application of evolving technology to address the concerns arising with partially or fully autonomous vehicles. Accurate lane positioning and lane change detection is an integral part of advanced Driver Assistance System which helps in safer trajectory planning. The engineering marvel of Light Detection and Ranging sensors corrects global localization error and provides centimeter-level accuracy but finds its use in restricted domain due to its computational complexity and cost implied. Lane detection is a technique for automatically road markers to ensure that cars stay in their assigned lane and do not collide with vehicles in other lanes. As an alternative, machine learning enabled vision-based lane change detection is highly regarded to provide lane-level localization maintaining high level accuracy. The algorithm design provides polynomial fitting with LiDAR data that helps model perform well in bad lighting conditions and help detect curved lane marking. The technology is well adopted based on the real-world testing scenarios which affirms its real time robustness with average of 89% lane change detection accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper a new design of a double-slot antenna fed by microstrip line is proposed for power harvesting applications at Ka band. The antenna consists of two parallel slot radiators connected with CPW line in the middle. Radiation pattern of this antenna is optimized to exhibit the maximum gain of 9 dBi in two directions that are offset 40 degrees in respect to the antenna broadside. Proposed antenna is suitable for powering wireless sensor nodes and passive RF identification tags with known RF source when the frequency and direction of arrival of the field are known. © 2023 IEEE.

In order to quickly and accurately synchronize the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM)system, this paper mainly analyzes and studies the timing synchronization method based on the training sequence, and proposes a Carrier Frequency Offset (CFO) synchronization scheme using the pilot structure, and the whole scheme implements two modes: coarse estimation and fine estimation, in the coarse estimation, a wide range of CFO including Integer Carrier Frequency Offset(IFO) is estimated, in the detailed estimation, only fine CFO estimation is performed, and the relevant peaks obtained during timing synchronization are used for frequency offset estimation;Secondly, the quadratic interpolation algorithm is used as the frequency offset estimation algorithm, which is superior to the fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that under Gaussian channel and Rayleigh channel, the timing estimation and frequency offset estimation of the improved algorithm have lower mean squared error, and the range of integer and fractional frequency offset estimation is expanded, which reduces the computational complexity of the system, and the algorithm is better than the FFT algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper proposes a novel antenna, which can be used for detecting electromagnetic field signatures associated with lightning strikes. The proposed printed antenna demonstrates sensitivity to electromagnetic emissions within the frequency range between 330 MHz to 960 MHz. To enhance the antenna's performance, OLRs (Open Loop Resonators) are integrated into a conventional self-complementary antenna (SCA) having T- shaped dipoles. The resulting antenna, the OLR- loaded self- complementary antenna with T-shaped dipoles (OSCTDA) is compact and exhibits a VSWR bandwidth spanning from 330 MHz to 960 MHz, maintaining a Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) below 2 throughout the entire frequency spectrum. The antenna's performance is examined through simulations and experiments. The proposed antenna can be used to analyze electromagnetic emissions generated by lightning-induced surge currents. © 2024 IEEE.

Terahertz has been rated as one of the 'top ten technologies to change the future world'. It has preeminent transmission characteristics such as large transmission capacity, small terminal size, good transmission security and abundant frequency resources, which is widely used in the fields of detection, detection, medicine and safety monitoring. In recent years, with the rapid development of terahertz sources and power devices, the research of terahertz communication systems has also received wide attention. While terahertz ground communication system is moving towards practical applications, the space application is still in the demonstration stage. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate terahertz communication systems for space applications. Communication properties and characteristics of terahertz waves are introduced in this article, and differences with microwave and laser are analyzed. The space frequency planning is provided, and the technical research progress is reviewed. It provides the prospect for the development of terahertz space communication systems, hoping to promote the research and popularization of terahertz technology in space application fields. © 2023 IEEE.

This research presents an innovative solution aimed at preventing in-vehicle pediatric heatstroke incidents through the integration of advanced sensors, connectivity, and intelligent algorithms. The proposed system continuously monitors crucial parameters including occupancy status, temperature, and the child's Respiratory Rate (RR). A hybrid detection approach, combining Force Sensing Resistor (FSR) sensors and motion sensors, is employed to ensure enhanced accuracy. To optimize the system efficiency, the solution utilizes Simplified Frequency Analysis (SFA), offering processing speeds up to 80 times faster than conventional methods, making it ideal for real-time applications. The processed data is seamlessly transmitted via a mobile application, enabling immediate caregiver notification and intervention. Initial testing confirms the solution's high accuracy in occupancy detection and breath monitoring, satisfying automotive standards for temperature resilience and power efficiency. Engineered to withstand extreme environmental conditions ranging from -40 degrees C to +85 degrees C, while maintaining a minimal standby current of 104 mu A, this technology holds immense potential in not only saving lives but also establishing itself as a standard safety feature.

Existing fake news detection models fall into two categories: content-based and graph-based. Content-based models identify fake news depending on news content, which may fail to determine fake news with disguised content. Graph-based models adopt extra media to construct graphs, which provide social context to identify fake news. However, existing graph-based models treat each media equally, neglecting the echo chamber phenomenon where most media have the same opinion or similar content. A model that can dynamically evaluate the contribution of each propagation and find critical ones during news spread is needed. To this end, we proposed FNDPro, which models the news propagation process as a heterogeneous dynamical graph. The key is that it models news as the first propagation and l-hop neighbors as the (l + 1)-th propagation. FNDPro contains a multi-modality encoder to encode each media and a propagation encoder to encode each propagation. FNDPro then employs a propagation transformer module to make every propagation embedding interact and obtain the importance score of each propagation. FNDPro achieves the best performance on three real-world datasets. Further experiments show the propagation transformer is helpful. Notably, FNDPro shows great generalization capabilities and can detect fake news even when news media are limited and manipulated. (Resources are available at https://***/whr000001/FNDPro.)

Drowsiness during driving includes high risks for the driver, the co-passengers, and the other people on the road. Advance Driver Assistance systems (ADAS) have been proposed to reduce these risks. This work introduces a new Internet of Things (IoT) seizure detection system to improve driver safety using Raspberry Pi, which is equipped with various sensors and utilizes machine learning for real-time monitoring and analysis. Using sensor fusion technology, including monitoring yawning and eye-closing patterns, the system aims to detect early signs of driver sleepiness. Being a low-cost, versatile, and tiny device, it becomes an ideal core processor for integration into an in-car environment. Additionally, the simplicity enables seamless communication with various sensors and facilitates effective data collection. Extensive tests and simulations were conducted to evaluate the effectiveness and reliability of the proposed system for real-world driving situations. The result outcomes prove the system's accuracy and efficiency in detecting early signs of driver fatigue to enhance driver safety. The integration of Raspberry Pi and sensor fusion technology makes it economical as well as scalable approaches supporting multiple platforms. © 2025 IEEE.
