In modern technological applications, the reliability of sensors plays a crucial role in ensuring the proper functioning of systems. Therefore, sensor reliability testing has become an important aspect of quality control and system maintenance. However, traditional testing methods often face challenges in terms of efficiency and accuracy, especially when dealing with large-scale sensor data. In order to address these challenges, this paper proposes an innovative approach to improving sensor reliability testing efficiency by leveraging big data analytics, particularly through the application of neural networks. The method involves extracting features from different scales and abstraction levels using a multi-scale neural network architecture. Subsequently, the extracted detailed information is fused with high-level semantic features to minimize information loss, enhance feature utilization, and obtain advanced features, thereby improving the performance of the network. Additionally, a spatial attention module is introduced into the network to extract critical information and enhance overall network performance, effectively detecting sensor faults. Through comprehensive experiments conducted on real-world sensor data, the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method have been demonstrated, highlighting its significant potential in enhancing sensor reliability testing processes. This research not only contributes to the advancement of sensor reliability testing but also underscores the broader potential of big data analytics in improving the performance and reliability of complex technological systems. © 2025 SPIE.

Indoor target tracking presents significant challenges across various fields such as security surveillance, industrial automation, and healthcare. This research paper outlines the design and implementation of a reliable direction monitoring system aimed at achieving accurate indoor target tracking using IoT and wireless sensor networks. By utilizing advanced sensor technologies and sophisticated data processing algorithms, the proposed system enables real-time monitoring and precise localization of targets within indoor spaces. The combination of IoT devices and wireless sensor networks facilitates effective data collection, analysis, and visualization, thereby improving the overall performance of the monitoring system. The results indicate that the developed system is effective in accurately tracking and localizing targets, fulfilling the essential requirement for efficient indoor direction monitoring solutions. In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), optimizing energy consumption and ensuring efficient data transmission are crucial for network longevity and performance. This paper introduces an enhanced clustering technique for wireless sensor networks that aims to extend network lifetime and ensure reliable data delivery. Instead of regular K-Means clustering, we integrate the Silhouette score method to evaluate cluster quality and decide the optimal number of clusters. This improves how nodes are grouped together in the network. Additionally, we strategically select routing paths from cluster heads to the base station that minimize energy drainage. Comprehensive simulations show our dual optimization approach outperforms standard K-Means in terms of energy efficiency, stable network organization and effective data transmission and overall, the proposed improvements to clustering and routing significantly advance energy-constrained wireless sensor networks toward more sustainable and dependable real-world applications. © 2024 IEEE.

In order to increase Quality of Service (QoS) in 6G Wireless sensor Networks (WSNs), QoS-aware routing protocols have been proposed as a solution in the study. Existing systems have limitations such as inadequate performance and insufficient support for the different requirements of upcoming 6G applications. To overcome these restrictions, the proposed system employs novel routing protocols designed specifically for 6G WSNs. The protocols efficiently manage network resource use, minimize latency, and improve reliability by utilizing advanced algorithms and adaptive mechanisms. The outcomes of comprehensive experimental research show considerable increases in QoS measures including throughput, packet delivery ratio (PDR), and end-to-end latency (ETL). The results illustrate the usefulness of the proposed QoS-aware routing protocols, establishing them as critical enablers for the smooth integration of 6G WSNs into a variety of applications encompassing from smart cities to industrial automation. © 2024 IEEE.

The development of flexible and biocompatible temperature sensors is critical for wearable healthcare applications, enabling continuous and non-invasive body temperature monitoring. This paper presents a temperature sensor based on a PEDOT:PSS/PVA composite fabricated using a straightforward drop-casting method encapsulated with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for enhanced durability and biocompatibility. The device is based on the negative temperature coefficient (NTC) charateristics of the fabricated composite polymer, facilitating accurate measurement of temperature alterations. The fabricated sensor demonstrates consistent performance across a physiological temperature range (32°C-40°C), achieving a temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of 0.68%°. Measurements show a stable decrease in resistance when the sensor is in touch with human skin, reflecting its sensitivity to skin temperature changes. Experimental results show that the resistance returned to its initial baseline;highlighting the repeatability of the sensor and its reliability for dynamic monitoring. The encapsulation with PDMS further enhances the flexibility of the sensor and protects it against environmental hazards while maintaining its electrical and mechanical performance intact. Compared to existing flexible temperature sensors, this device offers a practical balance of sensitivity, flexibility, and ease of fabrication. Its simple design and scalable fabrication make it suitable for various wearable medical applications, including fever detection, thermal mapping, and integration into advanced health monitoring IoT systems. This study contributes to the advancement of flexible electronics for personalized healthcare solutions. © 2025 IEEE.

Wireless sensor networks (WSN) are a continuously developing area of research with numerous applications. Despite their benefits, these networks present several challenges, including security problems. The trust factor is an effective strategy for securing the network against internal attacks and misbehaviour nodes. While several intrusion detection systems (IDSs) have been proposed, most of them consider either trust technique or anomaly detection technique. In this research, we suggested a hybrid intrusion detection system that takes anomaly detection techniques and trust factors into account. First, we proposed several criteria to model nodes' behaviours using multiple trust features. Then, we used the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm to classify their behaviour in the network. Our simulation results demonstrate that our approach can effectively detect malicious nodes in the network. © 2024 IEEE.

The advent of powerful control units and the widespread availability of cheap computers have significantly increased the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in various sectors. In the field of maritime applications, this progress has led to the emergence of Edge AI as an important technology. This research focuses on the application of Edge AI to maritime vessels, addressing key aspects of maritime operations. Using Edge AI, we aim to improve the situation awareness and operational efficiency of marine vessels. This study explores Edge AI integration into marine environments and emphasizes its potential to improve on-board safety, navigation and decision-making processes. Our approach shows how smart units decentralized in large central systems can lead to more efficient and adaptive maritime operations and paving the way for a new era of technologically advanced and environmentally conscious maritime practices.

Attritable sensor systems with microphones are ubiquitous and can detect a variety of moving targets from ground vehicles to unmanned autonomous systems (UAS), aircraft, and spacecraft. Smartphone platforms have open data collection interfaces and can use cellular, Wi-Fi, and other public communications to relay data. In addition, acoustic signatures are more difficult to mask than transmissions in radio-frequency bands, making sound a passive complement to RF in an early warning system. This presentation discusses the development, deployment, and ongoing AI/ML work behind RedVox, a smartphone app available through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. RedVox records data using the smartphone's onboard sensors, including the accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, barometer, and microphone;these data packets can be streamed to interested parties in real-time and analyzed online using RedVox's open-source software tools. One of RedVox's unique features is the ability to collect infrasonic data at frequencies below human hearing, which has been shown to detect natural disasters, explosions, and motorized vehicles. The RedVox app is rapidly deployable at scale in regions of interest. Two current focus areas are Guam and Coconut Island in Oahu, where networks of smartphones can perform edge processing and dispersed sensing of airborne and maritime targets. The RedVox ecosystem has matured over the past decade across diverse environments and currently provides advanced edge and cloud analytics. Further development could lead to a lightweight machine learning model that flags anomalous entities for human review, offering a resilient ad hoc sensor network for defense or emergency response applications.

Bed sensor systems are useful for measuring sleep states in cognitively impaired older adults because they can measure unrestrained individuals. However, there are no criteria for identifying sleep abnormalities using them. We developed a method to determine sleep abnormalities by analysing data collected by a bed sensor system using a self-organizing map (SOM). In this study, the sleep states were measured in two cognitively impaired care-facility residents. These recordings were used to calculate total nocturnal sleep time, wake time after sleep onset, frequency of leaving the bed, and frequency of awakening in the bed for each day. The data from these four variables were used to draw an SOM for each individual’s sleep state to identify normal or abnormal sleep days. We visually determined whether a main cluster was formed in the SOM. If a main cluster was formed, the days included in the main cluster were defined as the individual's normal days, while other days were defined as the individual's abnormal days. The above parameters were independently compared between the two groups, as determined by the SOM. The characteristics of abnormal sleep days identified by SOM could be explained using these four variables, suggesting the effectiveness of identifying abnormal days by SOM. © 2024 by SCITEPRESS – Science and Technology Publications, Lda.
