In an era where human-technology interaction is becoming increasingly intuitive, this paper presents an innovative approach to gesture control in smart lighting systems. Utilizing an 8x8 infrared sensor read by an on-chip library previously trained off-chip, this method enables precise and contactless lighting control. The paper critically examines the use of infrared arrays, with embedded machine learning models used to enhance accuracy and reliability. This technology promises seamless human-light interaction, not only improving user experience but also opening new possibilities for designing smart environments.

To bridge the digital barrier between those with disabilities and those without impairments, several applications can be operated by brain signals. It highlights the importance of employing brain-computer interfaces (BCI) and mentions a specific system called the "Brain-controlled Computer system" that can control a computer cursor and perform mouse actions using brain signals.. The system can control the cursor and provide mouse left/right click with brain signals using a low-cost Brainlink Lite device. Based on this system, we employed machine learning and deep learning methodologies to develop a system that classifies brain signals for cursor movement. The methodology involved gathering user input through surveys, interviews, and comparison studies, as well as utilizing pre-developed datasets collected using a mind sensor. We initially trained a model on a previous dataset, achieving approximately 70% accuracy. However, when applied to the new dataset, the accuracy dropped to 49%. To improve the results, we experimented with more complex models, including additional layers and a dropout layer to prevent overfitting. Despite these enhancements, the accuracy only reached a maximum of 52%. The research team collected a dataset tailored to their specific application. They made a groundbreaking discovery by applying a convolutional neural network (CNN), typically used for image analysis, to process continuous brainwave data. Despite this non-standard use, their hypothesis proved correct, with the CNN model achieving an impressive 80% accuracy in classifying brain signals for controlling a cursor. © 2024 The Authors. The fusion of laser point cloud and visual image depends on the point cloud density and the target framing effect, the traditional laser point cloud processing for sparse point cloud clustering effect is poor, it is difficult to frame small objects as well as medium and long distance objects. Then the subsequent sensor fusion is easy to miss the recognition of obstacles. In this paper, we improve the frame selection method for sparse point clouds, firstly build a deep learning framework pointpillar, use pointpillar to frame the sparse laser point clouds, then spatially calibrate the lidar coordinate system and camera coordinate system, project the lidar point clouds to the camera image, improve the late fusion method, effectively use the detection results of single sensor, and finally The late-fusion is performed with the target detection results of the camera image to output the exact distance as well as the category of the target. Experiments show that compared with the recognition effect of the traditional fusion algorithm, the number of frames is increased by 6 and the missed recognition rate is reduced from 31.41% to 12.31%. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Air pollution has become a major cause of health problems and mortality. Monitoring systems based on fixed stations are not able to adequately characterize air pollution on a large area such as city. This paper describes the study, development, implementation and validation of a mobile system for monitoring environ-mental parameters. The system consists of a sensor network, a communications system, a web application and a smartphone application. The sensor network is scalable as it has a bus topology and can collect data about nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter. The communications system aggregates the collected data and sends it to a remote web server using the HTTP protocol and a 3G mobile network. The web and the smartphone applications provide ways for viewing the data stored on the remote web server. The Google Maps API was used to represent the obtained records on a map. All system components were tested individually and, at a later stage, in an integrated manner. The results obtained in tests with the developed system were compared with the results from fixed stations. The measurement errors were less than 10%.

To improve the rehabilitation efficacy for stroke patient, a brain-computer interface (BCI) rehabilitation system based on motor imagery (MI) is investigated in this paper. Firstly, the Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals are preprocessed by Laplacian spatial filter and Butterworth band pass filter with cutoff frequency of 8Hz24Hz to enhance the interesting components of the EEG signals. Then, the logarithmic band power (LBP) features are extracted and the motion intentions classification model is established based on linear discriminant analysis (LDA) algorithm. Finally, the correct motion intentions recognition results are converted to executive command of our designed rehabilitation hand. The motion imagery dataset from OpenVibe is used to validate our system. Results show that the rehabilitation hand is driven to effectively actuate the hand to perform the pre-set actions according to the MI recognition results. © 2022 IEEE.

People today are more likely to put their trust in devices that can be operated automatically, one such applicationis in the agricultural sector. The researchers developed an intelligent irrigation control system to help with water conservationand reduce the amount of manual work necessary. As a platformfor the Internet of things (IoT), it takes use of Wireless sensor Networks (WSN) and a specialized server to do its tasks. In order to increase operational efficiency and production in the agricultural sector, the use of IoT and WSN is being implemented. The purpose of this study is to present a programmed watersystem with a framework for the terrains that will reduce the amount of manual labour while simultaneously optimizing theamount of water used and enhancing crop output. In order tomeet the needs of farmers more efficiently, we offer an algorithmfor autonomous watering. The system's user interface is tailored to the need so farmers, and it delivers data from the field to them via a variety of channels, including a screen-based interface, mobile phones, and a web portal. Among its many successes is a92% increase in accuracy, which translates to a noticeable boost in yields.

By combining mobile robots with navigation technology, multiple perceptions of scenes have been widely used in fields such as space exploration and autonomous driving. However, due to the large positioning accuracy error of the single sensor and the limited display performance of the control interface for scene information, the operator's perception of scene information will be skewed and influence decision-making. Therefore, improving the positioning accuracy in the process of robot navigation and enhancing the visualization ability of the control interface is the key to improving the practical application performance in robot navigation. To solve the above problems, this paper uses the physical robot as a carrier and integrates Digital Twin (DT) and Multi-sensor Information Fusion (MSIF) to optimize robot navigation. Finally, this paper proposes a precise positioning control system based on DT and MSIF. Unity3D is utilized to establish a DT control interface that visualizes the information collected by multiple sensors, which solves the problem of poor perception of scene information. At the same time, the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) algorithm, one of the MSIF algorithms, is integrated to improve the positioning accuracy of the robot. Simulation results show that the proposed approach effectively reduces the navigation route offset error caused by positioning errors. Finally, the system is successfully deployed on the physical robot for testing, which proves that the system has sufficient robustness and practical application value.

This project is designed to convert the traditional washing machines into smart, pay-activated machines using an integrated web application and NodeMCU microcontroller. The system enables users to remotely control the washing machine through a web interface, allowing selection of washing option and processing payments based on the chosen duration. Upon successful payment, the machine is activated automatically. The NodeMCU acts as the core controller, managing communication between the web app and the washing machine. The system also incorporates fault detection by utilizing sensors to monitor the machine's real-time performance. If a fault occurs, users are immediately notified through alerts, enabling timely maintenance. Additionally, users receive notifications upon completion of the wash cycle. The key features of the system include remote control via a web interface, integrated payment processing, real-time fault detection, and user notifications. This smart solution enhances user convenience, improves operational efficiency, and minimizes downtime, making it highly suitable for commercial laundry operations.

This project aims to design and develop an autonomous robot that can detect and extinguish fires in real time. The system integrates an ESP32 microcontroller as the central processing unit an ESP32-CAM module for video streaming and advanced fire detection, and multiple sensors including a flame sensor for fire detection and an ultrasonic sensor for obstacle avoidance. A servo motor and water pump are employed for directional control and water pump are employed for directional control and water dispensing, respectively. The robot operates by continuously scanning its environment using the flame sensor. Upon detecting a fire, the system activates the water pump and adjusts the servo motor to aim the water jet at the flame. The ultrasonic sensor ensures that the robot can navigate around obstacles and reach the target efficiently. The ESP32-CAM adds an optional layer of functionality by providing live video feed for remote monitoring or enabling image -based fire detection through AI models. This compact, cost-effective, and versatile system is designed to enhance fire safety in residential, industrial, and commercial settings by providing rapid response and reducing human intervention in hazardous situations.
