Acoustic sensor-based human-machine interaction (HMI) plays a crucial role in natural and efficient communication in intelligent robots. However, accurately identifying and tracking omnidirectional sound sources, especially in noisy environments still remains a notable challenge. Here, a self-powered triboelectric stereo acoustic sensor (SAS) with omnidirectional sound recognition and tracking capabilities by a 3D structure configuration is presented. The SAS incorporates a porous vibrating film with high electron affinity and low Young's modulus, resulting in high sensitivity (3172.9 mVpp Pa-1) and a wide frequency response range (100-20 000 Hz). By utilizing its omnidirectional sound recognition capability and adjustable resonant frequency feature, the SAS can precisely identify the desired audio signal with an average deep learning accuracy of 98%, even in noisy environments. Moreover, the SAS can simultaneously recognize multiple individuals in the auxiliary conference system and the driving commands under background music in self-driving vehicles, which marks a notable advance in voice-based HMI systems. A stereo acoustic sensor (SAS) with high sensitivity (3172.9 mVpp Pa-1) is proposed to realize omnidirectional sound recognition and tracking. The SAS can identify the desired audio signal with 98% deep learning accuracy, even in noisy. The Chemical Pollutants system, which combines sophisticated data processing capabilities with networked sensors to identify and control chemical pollutants, transforms environmental monitoring. It collects real-time data on pollutants using extremely accurate sensors, which are then evaluated using cloud infrastructure and a reliable wireless connection. Predictive insights using machine learning algorithms provide notable improvements: 97% accuracy in sensor data, 3 seconds of data transmission latency, and $\mathbf{99.5\%}$ system uptime. There are now 1200 daily active users, and the prediction model’s accuracy is $\mathbf{92\%}$. Environmentally, it resulted in a 30% decrease in PM2.5 levels, a halving of high pollution alerts to 10 per month, and an 85% increase in public awareness. The number of policy changes tripled to four each year, while community engagement quadrupled to twelve. The results highlight the system’s contribution to improving the timeliness and quality of environmental data, influencing public health and policy, and highlighting its efficacy and potential for wider environmental management use.

Manipulation of small-scale matter is a fundamental topic in micro and nanorobotics. Numerous magnetic robotic systems have been developed for the manipulation of microparticles in an ambient environment, liquid, as well as on the air-liquid interface. These systems move intrinsically magnetic or magnetically tagged objects by inducing a magnetic torque or force. However, most of the materials found in nature are nonmagnetic. Here, we report a ferrofluidic manipulator for automatic 2-D manipulation of nonmagnetic objects floating on top of a ferrofluid. The manipulation system employs 8-cm-scale solenoids, which can move nonmagnetic particles by deforming the air-ferrofluid interface. Using linear programming, we can control the motion of the nonmagnetic particles with a predefined trajectory of a line, square, and circle with a precision of 25.1 +/- 19.5, 34.4 +/- 28.4, and 33.4 +/- 26.6 mu m, respectively. The ferrofluidic manipulator is versatile with the materials and the shapes of the objects under manipulation. We have successfully manipulated particles made of polyethylene, polystyrene, a silicon chip, and poppy and sesame seeds. This article shows a promising venue for the manipulation of living and nonliving matter at the air-liquid interface.

Urban agriculture has become increasingly popular as communities seek to maximize available space for food cultivation. Aeroponics, a technique where plants are suspended and nutrient solutions are sprayed directly onto their roots, is one of these innovative farming methods. Although aeroponics offers efficiency benefits over traditional systems, it also presents challenges in complexity. Leveraging modern technology, this study introduces a control and monitoring system tailored for aeroponic lettuce cultivation. Utilizing an ESP32 microcontroller integrated with DHT22, water level, and TDS sensors, the system adjusts nutrient delivery based on temperature and humidity conditions, with real-time monitoring available via a web interface. By automating the pumping mechanism to align with environmental parameters, this system optimizes lettuce growth and conserves water more efficiently than standard methods.

This research work delves into the contemporary challenges faced by agriculture and proposing solutions through automation. The development of an Internet of Things (IoT) system adept at accurately sensing and monitoring environmental conditions is facilitated by the integration of advanced sensors, Node MCU, Blynk, and other pertinent technologies. The methodology of the research also emphasizes on the utilization of a diverse array of sensors, including the NPK sensor, to precisely ascertain Nitrogen, Phosphorous, and Potassium levels crucial for optimizing crop efficiency. The incorporation of Node MCU ESP8266 facilitates signal acquisition and management, while the Blynk program enables remote access to real-time sensor data and facilitates the operation of a responsive water pump for irrigation optimization. This prototype demonstrates a significant enhancement in farming precision, productivity, and efficiency. By leveraging real-time sensor data and remote-control capabilities through Blynk, the system offers operational flexibility, enabling proactive decision-making in agricultural management. This forward-thinking and user-friendly approach to agricultural planning heralds a promising future for precision farming methodologies.

Integration of soft electronic system components is critical to create a closed-loop system that seamlessly integrates sensing, driving, processing, and autonomous control capabilities. However, the existence of these components, particularly sensors and actuators, in isolated or discrete forms complicates the endeavor to achieve seamless interface matching and in situ integration, no more than the autonomic system. Here, an intelligent soft quasi-organism (SQO) equipped with sensor-driven integrated tentacles is demonstrated, featuring real-time state recognition and autonomous object recognition inspired by the sea anemones. By employing a heterogeneous mechanisms homotopic integration (HMHI) strategy, the tentacles of the SQO possess the unique ability to simultaneously perceive state changes and flexibly drive motions, utilizing the same material and structure. The sea anemone-shaped SQO exhibits real-time autonomous state identification capabilities through the integration of machine learning and customized circuits, attaining 100% recognition accuracy across sixteen states. With a neuromuscular system that facilitates active autonomous perception, the anemone-shaped SQO can recognize and intelligently grasp static objects with an accuracy of 80.7%, surpassing that of a human hand (74.7%). The SQO provides a promising approach for realizing artificial neuromuscular systems, with great potential for applications in crucial areas such as intelligent soft robotics and in vivo therapy. A fully closed-loop neuromuscular system is essential for soft robots to mimic diverse biological functions. An intelligent Soft Quasi-Organism equipped with sensor-driven integrated tentacles robot is presented that employs a Heterogeneous Mechanisms Homotopic Integration strategy with real-time state recognition and autonomous object recognition inspired by the neuromuscular system of sea anemones. image

Modern technology plays a crucial role in healthcare not only for reducing sensitive bias but also for improving transmission, documentation., and display device performance. It's veritably essential to monitor vital signs and post-operative progress. Therefore, the latest advancement in healthcare communication is utilizing the IoT (Internet of Things) technology. The Internet of Things accelerates healthcare and plays a significant role in various healthcare procedures. The current method only detects oxygen saturation, blood pressure, pulse rate and body temperature which doesn’t count the rate of breathing. In the proposed system, there is an advantage of counting the rate of breathing which uses ESP32-S as a microcontroller that acts as the bridge to connect and transfer data with multiple sensors like the spO2 sensor, Respiratory sensor, and heartbeat sensor. The control unit collects the data and transmits it to the network via IoT, hence furnishing Live monitoring of the patient’s healthcare Additionally, the system consists of an LCD display that continuously displays the patient's health status. The data can be viewed anytime and anywhere by the caretaker.

The elevator balance coefficient is an important index to measure the safety operation of the traction elevator. The traditional measurement scheme of the elevator balance coefficient is time-consuming and laborious, and the improved measurement scheme is limited by the weakness of the traditional acquisition system, which leads to the popularization difficulty. In this paper, A multi-channel high-speed data acquisition system is designed by ZYNQ system core board, A/D acquisition module, SD card, and HD display screen. The system temporarily stores the collected data through FIFO, reads the data through DMA to PS terminal of ZYNQ, and stores and sends the data after processing by PS terminal. Finally, the QT platform is used to build a simple user interface to control the display of collected data. The experiment proves that the system realizes the high-speed acquisition, transmission, and display of multi-channel data, and has the characteristics of high acquisition accuracy and fast acquisition speed. © 2022 SPIE.
