The human-computer interaction has evolved with GUIs, while laptops and desktops still rely on traditional input methods due to the prohibitive costs of large touch screens. We propose a novel virtual mouse system using hand gestures to replace touch displays. Our approach leverages live camera input and computer vision techniques, such as image segmentation and gesture recognition, to interpret hand movements captured by a webcam. Utilizing MediaPipe's pre-existing hand landmarks, these movements trigger mouse actions including left-click, right-click, selection, screen capture, volume adjustment, and brightness control, offering a cost-effective and innovative alternative to conventional input methods.

Motor imagery (MI) enhances rehabilitation in brain-injured patients by leveraging neuroplasticity to rebuild neuron connections. Combining MI with exoskeleton robotics and virtual reality (VR) can further improve recovery outcomes. In this study, we integrated a lower limb exoskeleton robot (MAX-1), the Oculus Quest 2 VR headset, and an MI-BCI system. Patients, equipped with the exoskeleton and VR headset, undertake motor imagery tasks, resulting in the exoskeleton robot's movements guided by EEG signals from the Emotiv EPOC Flex headset. These EEG signals are processed and transformed into leg commands, with concurrent feedback provided in the VR environment. The research comprises three experiments: an offline experiment for primary data collection and training, a pseudo online experiment for simulating real-time processing, and an online serious game experiment to assess the system's real-world applicability. The offline experiment showed an EEGNet model accuracy of 85.2% for MI detection and 78.3% for classification. The pseudo online experiment achieved an accuracy of 67.2%, indicative of its potential in a real-time scenario. In the online serious game experiment, while participants were able to complete the game, challenges in game control were reported, underscoring areas for future enhancement. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of an enhanced quadcopter flight control system integrating accelerometer feedback in the F450 platform. We introduce a novel sensor fusion algorithm combining traditional gyroscopic data with accelerometer feedback [5], implementing an extended Kalman filter for optimal state estimation. Our experimental results demonstrate significant improvements: 37% reduction in attitude deviation under wind disturbances, 42% improvement in hover stability, and 15% reduction in power consumption. The study includes the overall overview of the F450 frame fabrication, detailed mathematical modeling, hardware implementation guidelines, and performance analysis under various environmental conditions. Additionally, we explore advanced control techniques including adaptive gain scheduling and machine learning-based parameter optimization.

Modern urban development depends on optimizing cognitive sensor communications in smart cities, which is the focus of this investigation. In the era of expanding sensor networks, efficient data transmission is paramount for the success of smart city initiatives. The current state of sensor communication faces challenges like suboptimal adaptability, inefficient energy usage, and limited fault detection. This study proposes a solution through the application of an Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference system (ANFIS), identifying these challenges as opportunities for improvement. The novelty lies in ANFIS’s introduction as an intelligent and adaptive solution. Its ability to learn from sensor data, adapt to changing conditions, and optimize communication parameters sets it apart in enhancing cognitive sensor communication. The research methodology involves a systematic approach, encompassing data collection, pre-processing, and ANFIS model development. The model is rigorously trained, validated, and tested for real-world effectiveness. Integration into the smart city communication system is explored, emphasizing applications in context-aware communication, energy-efficient protocols, and fault detection. Performance is evaluated using metrics like accuracy, reliability, and efficiency, demonstrating the model’s efficacy in addressing drawbacks and enhancing overall sensor communication in smart cities. The findings contribute to advancing intelligent systems for urban infrastructure and services.

The Brain Computer interface (BCI) is a new way to communicate between the human brain and a digital computer. Genetic algorithm (GA) based Binary PSO is assisted in the operation of a prosthetic arm with a brain-computer interface that includes a virtual reality system and an electroencephalogram (EEG) is utilized in the paper. MATLAB is utilized with Visual Basic Arduino microcontroller in this paper. It provides a substitute for inborn control and communication. It is an artificial system that eschews the neuromuscular output channels, the body’s normally efficient conduits. One affordable prosthetic that may be installed on the head is the Arduino Prosthesis, a BCI device. Mind waves, or more accurately, the mind’s capacity for concentration and focus, govern the prosthetic arm. This is achieved by wearing a cheap EEG reader on the head, similar to a headband-equipped pair of headphones. This external device is much less expensive. Furthermore, the motors of some of the priciest prosthetics need to be controlled by micro electric impulses.

Semi-structured orchard environment has the characteristics of high complexity and strong uncertainty, which brings many challenges to the localization and navigation of agricultural automation equipment with limited sensors. This paper introduces a tree trunk localization system in a semi-structured orchard using camera/ultrasonic sensors fusion. In our method, the location of each tree trunk, which is relative to the robot, is obtained through the trunk tracking camera/ultrasonic detection system on the robot. And the location and direction of the robot are obtained through wheel odometer and IMU, respectively, rather than the traditional high-precision RTK-GPS. In order to reduce the error caused by odometer and IMU, several control points are introduced to revise the tree trunks' location, of which positions are determinate. Experiments suggest that in a simulated environment and a real orchard, which both have a row-column spacing of 4.3m x 3.4m, the tree trunk localization error of our approach is within 03m.

Based on brain-computer interfaces, this proposed system sets forth a brain-controlled wheelchair. (BCI). BCI bypasses conventional communication pathways (which include muscles and minds) and converts various sequences of neurological activity into real-time commands, enabling direct contact and management across the human brain and mechanical devices. The project's goal is to create an automated device that can assist people with disabilities in working independently of others in their everyday lives. Here, the EEG data is examined. Hundreds of thousands of interrelated neurons make up the human brain, and cognition and affective states are modeled by the patterns of interplay across these neurons. This structure is altered by human thought, which produces new radio waves. Additionally, when a muscle contracts, it produces its own electrochemical impulses. Electroencephalogram devices pick up all these radio signals, which use different sequences to operate the wheelchair. In this particular work providing promising solution by providing safety, monitor the activity via real time sensor, independent mobility, reduce user effort and safety of the user. © Grenze Scientific Society, 2023.

This work presents the calibration of a low-cost analog sun sensor essential for satellite attitude determination, focusing on measuring azimuth and elevation angles. A dedicated test bench including an optical table, dark room, solar emulator, and rotating table was established to evaluate sensor performance under realistic conditions. The calibration employed the dichotomy method to address the complexities of a multi-input multi-output (MIMO) system, ensuring accurate modeling of sensor outputs against solar angles. Results demonstrated the algorithm's robustness, achieving precise angle identification even with measurement uncertainties. Additionally, an intuitive graphical interface was developed to facilitate the calibration process and enhance the efficiency. This work significantly advances the reliability and affordability of sun sensors in satellite attitude control systems.

Smart technologies have revolutionized home automation, enhancing the way people interact with the environment. This study introduces an innovative home automation system that combines voice and gesture recognition technologies for seamless control of household appliances. The proposed system integrates various hardware components, including a gesture sensor, Bluetooth module, Arduino, LCD display, and a 4-channel relay module to manage devices such as fans, lights, plugs, and AC/TV units. Voice commands and hand gestures are processed via Arduino, activating or deactivating appliances through relay modules. The Bluetooth module allows remote operation via smartphones, enhancing convenience and accessibility. The LCD display provides real-time feedback and status updates, improving user experience with clear and concise information. As an important part of Ideological and political work, mental health education is an effective carrier to promote the implementation of the comprehensive reform of 'three complete education'. Fusion of multi-sensor data to achieve higher target tracking accuracy is the current research hotspot, but the research of dynamic level fusion is still a relatively open problem. In target tracking applications, a single sensor may not be able to provide all the information of tracking target. It is easy to lead to inaccuracy of target position estimation by using one of the measured values of sensors for target tracking. Therefore, the fusion of the measured values of sensors in this paper will reduce the uncertainty of tracking target position and improve the estimation accuracy of target position. At the same time, this paper uses brain computer interface technology to study the optimization model of College Students' mental health. After the design of brain computer interface system based on embedded processor, this paper tests the performance of hardware and software of the whole system. It includes the performance test of EEG amplifier, the test of embedded system and brain computer interface application. © 2021 IEEE.
